Hotel is a couple minutes from the train station, which I took from Zurich as my hubby flew back solo to the U.S. I decided to stay over the weekend to meet up with a friend in Bern and she and I will meet up with my college friend tomorrow... Bed was a king but could be separated into two twins which we need and got. bathroom was clean and has nice aesthetics! Room has a small beverage fridge, coffee pot, and hotel sleepers, yay! Great option while in Bern! Lots of restaurants and shops surrounding the area as well made this hotel the most convenient, and welcoming staff was bonus! 4.5 rounding to 5 for great customer service and special accommodations!!!

The friendly staff helped in so many ways--they gave us a great tourist map, stowed away our luggage after check out so that we could see the city unhindered. Gave us advice on tourist spots to go to. Best of all--the hotel is literally 1.5 blocks from the train station. You literally walk down a pedestrian only street and take an escalator down one floor to the indoor train station (Bern's mall-like gathering spot with restaurants and stores). What could be more convenient than that? Truly an awesome place to stay!

On warmer days you can sit outside on the patio, which is surrounded by green. It's not the quietest, because the roundabout is just some metres behind the hedge. Some places on the patio are under the open sky, some under a roof. The food is awesome! I already went there three times and ordered a cordon bleu every time. Take the big one (500gr.) even when you know in advance, you won't be able to eat the whole. The staff is happy to wrap it up in aluminum foil, so you can take it home. The difference to a smaller, even big, cordon bleu is 5-7 CHF, so it's up to you. I already had the Lothringer-Cordon bleu, the Saisonhit and the one with truffles and all of them tasted fantastic! The meat is best quality and CHF 34.- for half a kilogram is still a good price! The gratinée carrot-ginger soup as an appetizer was great. If you have some air left in your stomach after the cordon bleu, try the trilogy of desserts, which are varying from time to time. It basically said the room was up a bunch of stairs and also has no air conditioning, but it was pretty much the only affordable option so we risked it. I really loved the attic room! The weather was perfect for staying there (cloudy, drizzly, cool.... Not so good for seeing the sites, but you know). The window overlooked the street, which was great. The beds were comfy. The shared bath and shower were tiny but you could see a waterfall out the small window... so cool! Also, the breakfast was huge and delicious. The property had lots of nice communal spaces and had tea and coffee available all day. I really liked staying here!

I cannot say enough good things about Bernerhof. I read every review on every site for every hotel…read morein the area and we decided on Bernerhof because another review had mentioned that they were sweet to them when they had their elopement there. We stayed at Bernerhof for four nights with our entire family (10 adults, 4 children), and they were so accommodating. The breakfast spread is delicious and filling, the front desk staff is so friendly, and the location truly cannot be beat. We've traveled all over the world and the views from the Bernerhof hotel balcony are hands down the best. They're located in the center of town, just a short walk from the gondola up to Oeschinensee, and easy access to anywhere else in town, including the transit stops. Traveling overseas was a bit challenging for the little ones in our group, but the Bernerhof has a children's playroom and they were so so sweet to the children even when they were a little rambunctious. Staying at the Bernerhof felt like staying with family, just with really fancy and comfortable accommodations. They went above and beyond to make our stay in Kandersteg memorable and they made our micro wedding extra special with all of their thoughtful touches and customizations - our trip and wedding would not have been the same without them. I cannot recommend the Bernerhof highly enough - thank you again to Claudia and Gerhard and the entire staff for a stay of a lifetime!

If driving by car, be advised that you have to take a ferry....which is actually a train for transporting cars and not a boat. It is 10000% worth the effort. The hotel gorgeous with an attached restaurant and bar. We only tried the breakfast, but it was excellent. Our mountain-view room offered a breathtaking vantage point of the mountain and was perfectly-sized for two. There is a fitness center and washing machine/dryer available to guests. They exchanged our Euros for Swiss Francs at the desk, and the front desk attendants were quite helpful and friendly. This is the perfect location if you want an out-of-the-way, authentic Swiss destination.
