We decided that it would be fun to try a cooking class while on a trip to Provence. Little did we expect such a wonderful experience! Barbara Schuerenberg, who spoke impeccable English, led us through her gardens to pick herbs that we would be using in her kitchen. The class lasted for the morning, and then we were served what we prepared! Her kitchen is large enough for 4 people to be chopping, or mixing away, happily. Barbara is a gracious hostess, with a lovely home, and lovely grounds/gardens. She was amazingly well organized, having bought each ingredient necessary for the six dishes we were going to prepare. Every dish was prepared with the freshest ingredients, and Barbara was so well organized, that we were able to complete these beautiful dishes in a very short amount of time. She also gave us tips on preparation that will make our cooking in the future, much less burdensome than before. Each dish was delicious, and could very easily be made in our kitchens at home. We walked away with the recipes, which Barbara had printed for each of us, and a new appreciation for the ease with which great cooks can make simple, but fabulous dishes.
We loved this experience, which was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to France. read more
