If you're too tired to make a sandwich or greet a customer maybe it's time for you to take a break. Or a walk around the block. The man who rang me up acted like he couldn't be bothered-he wasn't really paying attention-and there was no "thank you" at the end. Uncle Italo "Babe" Caccia was a longtime sportsman and athletic director at ISU. Poppie worked at the bar and raced horses. He was also a founding member of the Bannock County Sherriff's Posse. Poppies and Grams lived right behind the bar on Cottage Ave. Well, through a field, but about a 2 minute walk in decent weather. I used to hide in the store room sometimes when it wasn't proper for me to be out in the bar. Debbie Polletti worked there for years. She used to keep her tips in the jukebox coin return. I was about 5, playing pool, and thought I'd hit the jackpot when I found Debbie's tips. She had 2 sons, one about my age. There's a traumatic potty-training story here somewhere. But McDermott's, nee Caccia's, endures. Poppie used colored shingles on the roof so the pilots could see the name CACCIA'S on their way into town. There used to be an annual camping trip for the regulars. Lots of horse people and serious drinkers. And, coming in on Hwy 30, it was the 3rd place they'd pass after the airport watering hole and The Pilot House. It was the first place you'd pass on the way home from The FMC or J.R. Simplot plants. So come on in, play some shuffleboard, shoot a game of pool, put some money in the jukebox, and have a cold one.

There were still 30 or so patrons and 3-4 hot dancers. The cover fee also gets you a drink token so that's nice. If you don't do alcohol they have some energy drinks and such that are good. You can pay credit card for the 5$ cover (you just have to jump through a couple hoops- go to the bar side and pay the cover and get a receipt to show the bouncer). and there is an ATM there. The bartender was helpful and the staff was friendly, the drink was good. The patrons seemed respectful enough. It's true that it was filled with smoke, don't go if that will bother you. The 10$ table dance is basically a lite lap dance- one song, no touching, and it's up on a stage with two couches opposite the pole dancing stage and the bar. The $25 gets you a dance of some sort in the VIP back room. Seems totally worth the extra cost, especially if you get away from the smoke. But I did not get a chance to try it. The mileage at the pole dancing stage is really good, but again it was a slow night. They had a menu and said the kitchen closes at 1:30am, which is pretty awesome. Noise level was good. The DJ had a sign that said they take requests. It can be sometimes awkward to get a dance since you have to hunt down a girl and often they are about to go on stage.
