I tried a hot dog with cheese, tomato, and guacamole - I know mayo is one of the standard toppings in Chile but my stomach can't handle that. The entire process of trying to eat this is just...weird. It was such a crazy amount of guacamole that it was difficult to get a bite that combined all the ingredients. The hot dogs were stuffed so far into the bread that it felt like I had to eat through the toppings in order to get to the meat. I ate half of it, but then just gave up because it was such a massive mess and basically impossible to eat. I refuse to eat a hot dog with a fork and knife. I like the location of Sibaritico in that it was nice to be able to order our food to go and walk over to where we had a nice view of the water. I just wish my food had been as enjoyable as the view.

This is nowhere near as good as a standard Chicago dawg with Vienna beef, or Crif dogs in NY...or even Papaya or Nathans dawgs in NY. This is just a random place we came across as we were walking around Valparaiso. Pretty packed with locals, mostly men on their lunch break. Not exactly the cleanest place to eat, but clean enough not to get sick. Hot dog tastes very processed. Tastes almost like balogne, but not as salty. Service was average.

My Spanish is really not very good, so it was a little cumbersome ordering, and I had to profusely apologize to the staff for my inability to really express myself clearly. But, I got their veggie dog "gigante", which is really a long hot dog bun, filled with "carne de soya" in sort of a loose meat style, then topped with all the goodies, and they have tons of them. I sat there with my hot dog, and inhaled it. Thinking about it, now, and only a few days from leaving Santiago, I think I may need to go back before I depart. Sweet and patient staff, a out of this world "veggie dog" with whatever you want on it, I couldn't have been happier. :-)

At Hogs you'll pay two or three times what you would normally for your completo but they also have interesting choices like venison, rabbit or veggie dogs and topping choices much beyond the ordinary (quite possibly too many, in fact). The completo is a concept that I think is, sadly, a little lost on me. Like many Americans, I'm always down for a hot dog. However, when it comes to the completo, the toppings seem much more important than the weiner itself. After a couple of bites I was utterly covered in avocado, tomato, mayonnaise, shoestring potatoes and such but really wanting more meaty goodness. This sandwich is literally bread, cheese, and steak all melted together. If made correctly it is heaven. At the Carrito they offer this along with many different Completo (Chilean style hot dogs) options. They also have a fantastic mini salsa bar. Lots of different aji (chile) mixtures that you can add to your hot dog or hot sandwich. This place is also crowded especially during the wee hours of the mornings. The carrito is a family owned spot and the staff are really nice and really quick. They also serve pop soda drinks to accompany your food, they do not serve alcoholic beverages. The Carrito is right at the beginning of Pio Nono so if you forget to eat before you go out bar hopping you can grab a filling snack before hand.
