We arrived right before they opened to ask whether we could make a reservation for later in the afternoon. We didn't even get to ask about the reservation--first thing we were told was that they are not open yet (no "hello", nothing). I responded, "yes, we know--we wanted to make a reservation for later if possible." Then we were told, "well, if you come later and all seats are taken, then you have bad luck." Ok, so am I to take away from this statement that they don't take reservations? If so, just say so... We returned half an hour later--of course, there were plenty of seats. We picked a table (as is customary in Germany) but my husband hadn't even sat down when the waiter walked over--again without saying hello--to yell at him that he "take his water bottle off the table". Again, we hadn't even taken a seat yet, and it's normal to carry a water bottle on a warm day. At this point, we didn't feel very welcome and just left to take our business somewhere else. I will also say that this was not a language problem. I am German, and this entire interaction with the waiter happened in German language.

I had the Goat cheese and egg Galette (which is basically a savory crepe) and enjoyed some complementary water on tap, which is a rarity in Berlin. The woman working there is French and super friendly and knowledgeable. Wonderful food and overall experience with a lovely patio to sit outside.
