My husband is British and he had told me about the TV show which sounded awesome. Then one day, we happened to check into our hotel in London and what was on by chance but a Crystal Maze marathon! I caught both new and old episodes while we freshened up. Amazing! So I was delighted when I read about the live experience and I couldn't wait to play! I love escape rooms and this sounded right up my alley. We tried to convince my siblings-in-law to participate with us, but after several failed attempts, we just decided to carry forward and sign up just the two of us. We booked a weekday night slot at 9:15 pm in December. We reserved the last two spaces on a team of 8. The website and email confirmation says to arrive 30 minutes early to register, so we did, but signing the liability waiver only took a couple of minutes. I don't think you really need to arrive that early. They don't have a water fountain inside and I was so thirsty; they only sell a tiny bottles of water for 2 pounds, so we walked to nearby M&S to pick one up. When we got back, the rest of our team still hadn't arrived, so clearly, they're not stickler on this arrival time thing. We met our teammates, which were 4 people out on a team work outing. I'm not sure what happened to their other 2 members, but this worked out better since we each got to play more challenges. Each team gets to play 16 challenges total (from 4 different categories: Physical, Mental, Mystery and Skill) in 4 different zones -- just like the TV show! We had an amazing, theatrical host that really brought the game to life! We whizzed around through to the different challenges, following our wildly, fun host! The most impressive part of the game is just how detailed everything is! The zones look just like the ones from the TV show! In the aztec zone, you actually slide down the temple into sand! Be sure to look up down and all around! It's just like Disneyland in their attention to detail. I loved it! You start the game in the locker room where you can put on the bright colored jackets from the TV show to take some photos, but you'll leave your jacket behind. It's pretty hot running around. TIP: Just wear a t-shirt inside and comfy shoes you can run in. Then stash your stuff in the free lockers. You can't bring your phone inside either. Then you'll watch a fun intro video that introduces you to the show if you're unfamiliar, and then you'll meet your host, The Maze Master, and elect your Team Master. I was our Team Master who helps decide what challenge the team will take on (you'll always have a choice) and who from the team will take on the challenge. I was pretty easy going about it, especially since I didn't know other 4 members (but they were cool and it's easy to get along and make friends during the game). The challenges were fun whether you were playing yourself or just coaching on your teammate! In most of the games, it's easy to play along with and help your teammate out, so it's quite fun for everyone. Don't worry about getting locked in like the TV show; your team will audibly help you count down the time and tell you to get out if needed. The rooms are small, so it's always easy to get out in town. Also, if you do get locked in (our team didn't), the host will give a simple puzzle or riddles to solve apparently, so you can can rejoin the game. If you can't solve it, you'll lose a crystal. Hosts are also known to give out free crystals to teams as well though, so I really wouldn't worry about it. Each game you win, you earn a crystal which gets you 5 seconds in the Crystal Dome -- just like from the game. Our team of 6 ended up with 10 crystals (we were told most teams earn 6), We entered the Crystal Dome to try and catch as many gold tickets as we can (there's only gold tickets in this one). We ended up with 98! I think we were one of the high scores for the day! It didn't really matter; it was a load of fun! I thoroughly loved this! I asked how much of the game (ie: what percentage of challenges did we see), and they said it was only 40%! I'd definitely love to play it again and I think you'd definitely have some new experiences! It was such a blast! I highly recommend it! read more

If you've yet to go to the maze I would highly recommend it. I've been 3 times now - the first when it first opened, the next on my birthday in Nov 2016, and the last time a couple of weeks ago. In between my second and third time they updated some of the games so I wasn't having to replay ones I'd already done, and they do have the timing and characters down to a tee. It does feel like being on a cheapened version of the show, and for someone who was too young when it was on TV, it's made that one dream definitely come true. Expect 2 games each (you can sometimes fit in more) as there are 4 zones and 8 in a team. I've found its a good idea to plan ahead for the types of games people want or an order to run through, so you waste less time talking and get plenty of time to play the games. It is expensive for what it is but as an 'experience' it's comparable to other activities. The Maze Masters are all fantastic and really help you enjoy the experience. read more

Despite never seeing the original show, I had a blast! We went as a group of 7 and played 2-3 games each. Each game would be one of four challenges - Mental, Physical, Mystery and Skill; you get a crystal for each one you completed, but you have to get out before time's up otherwise you will become a prisoner. Your team is allowed (and actively encouraged!) to help you. An eccentric friendly host only enhances this immersive experience. Great fun! read more

I had heard a lot about the Crystal Maze; while I'd never seen the show, a lot of my friends were raving about how awesome it was. The high ticket price was a bit of a deterrent for me though.  A friend sent me a last minute invite to be on her team that same night, so I simply had to say yes! And there we were, thrown into an unfamiliar world of bright lights and mystery.  We got a short briefing, where our Maze Mistress Tilly prepared us for what lay ahead. Four zones, Aztec, Industial, Futuristic,  with a number of small challenges in them, our team leader would choose the contestant and theme and we'd be thrown into the challenge, for which we could earn a crystal that would get us 5 minutes in the Crystal Dome. We could choose from skill, physical or mental challenge but didn't know what it was going to be until we were through the door. One player at a time, while the rest of the team got to watch through windows or hatches, which is a very different concept to what I'm used to from escape rooms. Obviously some of the challenges were easier and more fun than others, and the production value is very high with rooms and props being professional quality. However, within the hour each individual team member only get to do, on average, two challenges.  At the end of the hour, we were led to the high light of the Crystal Maze, the Dome! To be honest, this part was super weird and cheesy. You're locked into this glass dome and small foil tickets are blown into the air, which you're supposed to catch and place in a box with a small slot in it. Two of our team members stood still in front of said box and made it almost impossible for the rest of us to deposit the tickets we caught. The whole thing just seemed so weird, but I guess it makes more sense if you've seen the TV show. Overall, I had fun but don't think it's worth the money they ask for it. Unless you're a huge fan of the TV show, because nostalgia doesn't have a price tag. It's a good production value and fun little games but there's a lot of standing around and watching for most team members. read more

Oh my god. BEST afternoon of my life! I was always a fan of the show when I was younger and desperately wanted to take part and complete a challenge in the sandy Aztec zone but all good things come to an end sadly and I was never able to make that dream come true until now... As soon as it went live on kickstarter I backed this by pre-ordering a single person ticket and then of course as soon as booking was open I grabbed myself a slot so I could spend a few hours with strangers running around reliving one of the best shows on television. I was a bit worried that it wouldn't live up to my expectations but I needn't have as the experience was perfect from start to finish! The sets capture the original feel of the show perfectly and the games are all clever and varied. You get time in each of the four zones (industrial, medieval, future and aztec) and the quicker you collect crystals the more games you can try! A couple of the physical games were out of action due to some previous contestants being a little too rough with them but this did not impede on the game whatsoever. As team captain (who knew NO ONE ELSE in the group) I did find it a little tricky trying to match the team members to the best game but we had a good rhythm going and got through loads of tasks. AND I got to fulfill that Aztec dream by winning a crystal, topped off by our time in the crystal dome at the end. Who knew that catching flying pieces of paper was so damn hard?! But we were victorious and even if we hadn't been, just the experience was a winner in my book! I'm desperate to return with a group of friends to experience the magic once again! read more

This experience was very disappointing and is terribly overpriced. Each individual only does a total of 2-5 minutes of actual games/puzzles, and for the rest of the time you stand around listening to the jokes of the moderator or another member of the team (who you may not even know) try to complete a puzzle. The puzzles themselves were either extremely simple and took a margin of the time allotted for their completion, or they were much too difficult (so much so that the moderator told us that nobody had ever finished). Personally, I was paired up with 7 other teammates who were all co-workers, which made it feel as though I was intruding on their corporate team-building event. If you are going to do this game, do it with a large group of friends. Unfortunately, my friends weren't interested in investing 50 pounds to play this game - a price I, too, realize to be much much too steep. read more

Came from USA. Had a busy schedule and accidentally put down wrong time on our daily list. Thought I was 15 min early. But was 45 late. They couldn't do anything for us. Not even let us into the team we were supposed to have joined. No way to find out if there are cancellations or help us with rebooking. Told us to call about possible refund which seems really unlikely. Only saw the crystal ball and the team we should have joined grab money. It really seemed they could have let us join the group at that time but basically told us it wasn't possible. Obviously our bad for missing the reservation but won't be able to come here again. :( Apparently you would do about two maze games per person. Which is like £25 per session plus dome. 2min sessions. The whole thing lasts an hour. They really cycle people in and out. You'd think they could throw us a bone? Eg allow us a photo op in the dome (no one was in it for a long time). Or let us view a team do the maze room. I am sure the contestants wouldn't mind to extend a small courtesy for a hapless tourist. Wouldn't they also want more people to help with the money grab? Lowest point for first visit to U.K. And London. They responded on tripadvisor and basically said. It's your fault you were late and you admitted it too. No appreciation again we are overseas tourist. Told us they hope we come back. Sure I'll just fly in next week. On my Facebook review someone started to defend them plus insulting emojis. I asked if it was an employee. And didn't get a response. The thread was deleted curiously. If it was an employee then obviously unprofessional. They denied it of course and said they would look into it. Another person called my complaining typically American. And I first responded #brexit. But then deleted it thinking it was childish. He saw it before I did and said that comment reflected my demeanor. Works both ways. Again I agree I was late so yeah take my money. All I wanted was a small courtesy since I won't be able to return any time soon. What seems to me a small effort on their part would have been very meaningful... read more

This Crystal Maze experience is based on the ever popular game show that was shown on air between 15 February 1990 to 10 August 1995 in the UK. Now you can experience for yourself what it would be like to of been on that show by running around to four different zones (Aztec, Industrial, Futuristic and Medieval) and competing in one of the many games from Skill, Mental, Physical and Mystery. I went last night and I had an aMAZEing time with my friends going through the zones and completing numerous games in a 90 minute experience. Firstly you have to register and have a briefing. You will then be given to wear during your time in the maze a branded bomber jacket in the colour of your team. We was in the green team so obviously we got a green jacket to wear. You are then led through to a door and you then watch some clips of the amazing Richard O'Brien doing his stuff when he presented the show all those years ago. It brought back so many memories and made my heart a flutter as I so loved Richard with his sexy style and bald head, swooooonnnnn. Anyway whilst watching the clips of him our Maze Master bursted through another door and gave us all a fright which was funny. We was then led through the many different zones on our 90 minute experience completing many games that has been done and shown on the TV show. Some of the games me and my friends done was digging in sand to uncover buried treasure (well the crystal) via a treasure map (my friend Denise done that one), trying to maneuverer yourself through lasers to reach a crystal (my friend Paul done), putting a stained glass window type puzzle together to figure out which of the many miniature stained glass doors to open to reveal crystal (played by me) etc. Each crystal represents 5 seconds of time in the Crystal Maze dome at the end. Was all so fun especially when you have to move onto different zones in such different unique ways. My best zone was Aztec as the floor was covered full of sand. Also the Maze Master we had The Baron was so comical and full of life that he made the experience even more of a pleasure. At the end we managed to get 45 seconds worth of time in the Crystal Maze dome. This involves a fan from the floor blowing up gold pieces of paper which we all have to try and grab and place into the letterbox. So funny and so hard I felt like I was in a Autumn wind with leaves blowing around me. At the end all gold paper is counted up and the four teams scores are revealed. The team with the highest number is the winner BUT you don't win anything unfortunately which I feel is a bit of a disappointment I cant see why they cant even give say a badge or something. You then all get to have your photo taken at the end which will then be uploaded on Facebook for you to copy and save if you like. You can also buy merchandise on line ie the bomber jacket which I believe costs around £50. This event is so popular that it gets booked quickly in fact this year alone 2016 is booked out so if you want to do with your friends then you best start booking quick to get a slot in for next year as some more dates were released in March 2016 for January and February 2017 and some of those days have already sold out. I highly recommend to anyone to do if you love CM or even if you just love puzzle games because really that is what it is but on a bigger scale. read more

Absolutely AMAZING! This event has to be the best event I have ever been to that has been remade for the public due to very high demand with initial monies raised via a pledge find site and they got more money than they expected as this tv show was very popular in the 90's and I've always wanted to go on this show but wasn't able to, so zoom to the future and 2015 it was an announced this was being built!. I don't want to give too much away about the games but if you loved watching the show back then now you can take part yourself. Their are 4 different time zones to work through completing games in a time of 2-3 minutes each game and if win you win a crystal that gives you 5 seconds of time in the Dome were you collect Gold tickets that are whizzing around the air and you try and catch them and put them in the collection area, it's such a buzz at the end too as you see all the other 3 teams in the dome to and you then find out who's won. A truly amazing event to go to, you won't be disappointed. There are also FREE lockers to put your items in as you are given a jacket to wear depending on your team colour and it's not advisable to have anything in your pockets as you could be on the knees and climbing etc and you can also purchase crystal maze t-shirts, mugs and crystals on-line via their online shop. read more

I was absolutely obsessed by this show as a child, and fan or not Crystal Maze in Pembrokeshire promises to be a good day out!

As a kid I was a massive fan of this show, and the live experience did not disappoint! Super fun for me and a work group, and our Maze Master "Anytime Thursday" perfectly captures the camp spirit of the original Richard O'Brien show. 10/10 would scream at my teammates again. read more
