I quite liked that you can start with those to mentally get ready while you wait. The person who worked there was very nice and answered all our questions with a smile. He introduced us to the game in which we would be finding the Holy Grail by solving puzzles set up by 'Da Vinci' himself. The puzzles were really inventive and I won't spoil it, but one moment in the game feels like magic. I have done a bunch of the escape games in London, but the challenges in this one felt fresh and fun and there was some real originality. I found the room challenges to be fairly straightforward and clear and the Da Vinci theme was well-done. We only asked for one hint and finished with 11 minutes to spare, so I think the difficulty level was perfect for us. I particularly liked the physical games just because they were quite fun, but all of them were good and there was a fair amount of all types of puzzles. Love Popups London gave me the opportunity to try this game and I definitely got lucky, it was one of the best in London that I have tried! The production values were excellent and the problems were varied and fun to solve. I would definitely recommend this game!

We have one hour to unravel the mystery of what happened to him. The room itself has a very steampunk feel to it, which is really well done with lots of details and decorations. It's a bit dark in the beginning, as finding the light source is part of the game, but once you've gotten past this first hurdle, it's a quite well lit room with lots to discover. The storyline is very linear with lots of hints and instructions built into the room itself, which makes it very suitable for beginners, younger players, or couples. Children from 12 years are allowed to play this room without adult supervision, and it would definitely be solvable for a group of teenagers. So many different puzzles, riddles and clever machinery are part of this room, we didn't feel bored or stuck for a second and blasted through the plot in just 34 minutes. As all four of us have played A LOT of escape rooms though, we didn't think it was too easy at all. As experienced players I would just recommend having less players on your team. An experienced couple will likely get a good 45+ minutes out of this gorgeous room. The props and decorations all looked really well done, well placed, and within theme. A very solid room that was a lot of fun to play! I just wish there was a little more to do so we could have stayed in it longer as it was just so enjoyable!

Sometimes I'm weary of live actors, but they integrated their live actor/game host well. Ford, I believe her name was (or Gabriel, in line with the character everyone meets) was fabulous and fun. This was also the first time I've played a room where you win a bottle of wine and it was located in a bar establishment. That alone was well worth it! I've consider this room to be a first generation room (no tech), but they did a solid job. Escape rooms have become more and more elaborate, but if you can make a solid first generation room, I'd take that over finicky tech based rooms. It was dark, however, but you do get flashlights. Also, it's a creepy room and my group and I hate creepy, but it was a lot of fun for my group and I. Can't think of any jump scares. I'd definitely recommend them and would love to be back for more!

You can gather and chill in the Four Thieves pub downstairs and wait for Gabriel to find you. You'll easily recognise him by his old timey garb and creepy stare. This escape room has an actual storyline you have to follow, a bit like those classic adventure games. Randomly searching for clues isn't as helpful as it is in most other escape rooms as only the storyline will help unlock the clues. The room is really well done, very dark and moody, slightly creepy but not too scary. Decor and props are fantastically made, the room tends to get quite hot though, so be aware of that when you dress for the day. The clues and riddles make sense and are all solvable if you stay on track. Overall a really good experience, would definitely recommend this one!

Located in an abandoned train station that was also used as an air raid shelter the building itself has an old eerie feel to it. The old brick work and dark rooms definitely adds the the ambience. There are three different rooms here. Two have jump scares which may turn some people off (or some people will love it). We went out and attacked the passenger room it with a group of three. The puzzles were understandable and in working order. There was a good deal of effort put into the atmosphere of the place which was really great. I don't want to give away too much but I can say it was a well planned room with working parts. While the puzzles themselves were medium difficulty, doing it under the pressure being scared made them a bit harder. Overall, very good experience. We would definitely go back for more. Things that could improve: - A lot of the rooms are really dark and it can be hard to see. - There are portions where one person goes off to a different part of the game and you have to listen to them yell instructions back, but the background music is so loud, it's really difficult to hear them. - If you can't seem to solve a puzzle, we found they just gave us the answer instead of giving us smaller clues and letting us figure it out. All in all, we had fun. It's one of the better escape rooms.

They did not cover up these windows but are utilizing them to create an airy, open waiting area that's bright and comfortable. I'm sure it also brings them foot traffic as people walking by can see groups waiting and being briefed. We first tackled Mission X, which sees your team racing against time to stop a missile attack on London. The briefing is done by a quick run-through of the usual escape game rules as well as an introductory video, which is quite well done! I do like video introductions to the theme, sometimes they do end up being on the lengthy side, but the Mission X one is quite straight forward and just the right length. Upon entering the first room, we immediately noticed that this one is a little different than most games of the same type. The riddles and clues weren't as standard, there were a lot of original ideas and puzzles I've never seen in the same way. Evidently we weren't prepared for that as we got stuck a few times, too focused on what we were used to and not thinking out of the box enough. There closer you get to disabling the missile, the more exciting the game gets, with quite a few nerve wracking and thrilling effects. Some of the props were still a little provisionary, but as this was a preview game, I trust that will be fixed in time. Most props and decorations were very well done though I could see some areas were people may be tempted to use brute force to try to hack their way into or out of items. Don't. You don't need to. You do, however, need to keep your mind open and think outside of the standard escape room tropes as this one really has some twists to it, and connections between puzzles and clues aren't always obvious as there is no set storyline or thread to help you along. We did stop the missile in time and enjoyed the game, but it was a mad scramble to figure out what clues and codes were to be used with which locks and riddles, so I'm taking off some points for that.  Overall, it's a really fun room with fresh new ideas. After averting a missile being launched into London, we gave our feedback to the owners and were again really lucky in being offered to preview the second room, Alcatraz, after a short break. This one has more of a thread or storyline than Mission X, which I prefer in escape games. But first things first! We were split up into two cells, positioned opposite one another with a small corridor inbetween. The few items in the cells provided us with everything we needed to make our way to the guard room where even more puzzles waited for us. There were again fresh concepts I hadn't seen in any other escape room before and they were really well done with all props and items working perfectly. Some of the puzzles and clues are amazingly fun to work with! Some thrill elements and a sense of time pressure and secrecy add to the immense enjoyment of this room. My whole team agreed that this room is the better of the two, even though both of them are really good. I can definitely recommend either one of them and am absolutely looking forward to their next game room!

The second time I went back with my niece and nephew and sis-in-law and so it was 2 kids with 2 adults and the mission was to save London. I found this game more challenging than Alcatraz as there was a lot of thinking involved and lots of puzzles to figure out. I don't think it is possible to do this first time round without clues but Alcatraz you can figure out without any help and clues. My brain was totally engaged in Mission X and it was such a great experience. I would totally recommend this for friends and team building but it really does bring everyone together as you have to all input to get out! Highly recommended as it is a lot of fun!

At No Escape London no one will hear you scream from their Dentist…read more Within this Dentist surgery there hides a rotting secret. Will you escape from your appointment or will you be trapped by the dentist and never leave?  The door slams shut behind and you have an hour to solve whom the dentist killed. Be quick though before the murdering dentist comes back.  Can you and your team escape in time or will you and your team fall to be his next victims? The room is quite impressive as it looks like an old fashioned dentist surgery with it's antique furniture and dental equipment lying around everywhere there is even an x-ray screen. All the clues and puzzles all lead onto cracking locks to open within the room from number coded locks to coloured ones. It is not an extremely challenging escape room but not too easy either. One or two puzzles had us having to drill into our brain power. We thankfully escaped. If you hate dentists then beware of the dentist and what lurks within the room. This room really does look like a dentist surgery. It is such fun. I highly recommend.

This company is located in a tiny room atop a set of tiny staircases above a tattoo shop above an off-license on Oxford street. As there is absolutely no signage, your first task is just finding the place! A sign or two downstairs really wouldn't hurt. Once you find it, there is a tiny little waiting room, barely large enough to fit a team. We were actually made to wait on the stairs, which is a challenge in itself as they're so narrow, because the previous team hadn't left yet and there was not enough space in the waiting area. So this is definitely a tiny escape room! I was hoping the waiting room would be more like a dental surgery's reception, which would have fit so well with the theme! There was indeed a little glass box with a plethora of resin teeth though, nicely setting the mood for what was to come! The dentist's room itself, where the escape game is located, does look like a very antiquated dental surgery, with very old dental equipment, furniture and books. It's very well set up, but some of the equipment seems a bit "well loved" and fragile, so we felt a little worried about touching some of the items. The clues and puzzles are pretty run-of-the-mill find the number to open the lock type puzzles. Not extremely challenging, but not super simple either. It's more a scramble to find the right items and less a brain power exercise. The fear factor is definitely well done though, with amazing props and even locks on gruesome decorations that some of our contestants refused to get close to; you'll definitely need some less squeamish people in your team to get past those challenges! Unfortunately our room wasn't properly reset and one of the locks was left open. As such we found the exit key way too early and were told to go back and try to solve the rest of the riddles, which threw us off our game a bit and just seems really unprofessional. On a less vital puzzle, it wouldn't be such a big deal, but on the final lock, it really is a big deal and shouldn't happen.  All in all I'd say it was a decent escape room with a very different theme and well done horror effects. It's more a beginners to mid-range room as far as difficulty levels go. I'd have liked to see some more cohesive riddles and puzzles and a bit more of a story line. Still, It's a fun one to try!
