The Crystal is a Madison dive bar, yes - but it's so much more! Amazing place to see bands, lots of local color, fun bartenders, friendly regular customers and a great look/vibe! Check it out some evening - cheers!

Not to be confused with the Crystal Meth Bar, which is where I got arrested for supposedly dealing. I was not! Like I told the officer, YOU'RE METHING A BIG METHSTAKE. He disagreed with meth ough. Super cute Dive Bar in Madison which is mostly full of college students even though it's about a mile away from the college - maybe a little bit more. East of town on the way out on a little backstreet, boys, and definitely well worth you stopping in here because it's got great live music and a really good atmosphere and lots of cute young people and definitely the kind of place where you will have a good time in Madison if you like bars. The drinks are a little expensive which is why I give it 4, but that's the case at almost every bar now especially in college cities like Madison.

Cool, divvy neighborhood bar. It's cool in that it has a pin ball machine, roll-bowling game, a few pool tables and two dart boards. Yet, it's not so divvy that the bar patrons stare you down when you walk in. We ordered two rail vodka seltzer for $7. Not bad. Friendly bartenders!

Neon shine of the Crystal Corner Bar. Long live Tad.

Best live music in Mad Town. If you see Joe, thank him! David Day, the owner is a Madison treasure. He's never there after 4, but that's cool too. The bar is circular, so no matter where you are, you're not far from your friends. If you're a dick, don't go, there's a Bears bar downtown for you. Just kidding. All are welcome at the CCB. Lastly... You wanna blow your mind? Watch Jeopardy at 4 at the Crystal. a bunch of regulars who seem to hate each other watch every day. Not real fun...just very surreal. No music, just ... Just go see it.

New in town, had to check this place out, based on the neon/glass exterior. So glad i did, good beer, good people watching, good tunes.

I figured that I MUST have left it at CCB, so I swung by early the next morning before they were open.

Mickey's Tavern may be one of my new favorite spots in the Madison! Located on the eclectic…read moreWilliamson Street, Mickey's is divey, local, welcoming with a tinge of new age and it works, really well. The exterior is quintessential old school dive bar from the worn paint to the old school PBR sign. When you walk in, you are quickly transported into a retro, yet new age space that features old school lighting and artwork mixed with new age neon's and a creative menu. Staff were excellent at the bar. They hooked it up and helped us choose just the right drink, and chatted us up for a while. Patrons were equally friendly, which was nice. With that, it has the vibe of Wisconsin from decor, menu, staff to patrons. We hung out in the main bar area for a while, and then discovered there was a whole other section with a pool table and more cozy style seating areas. They do offer your standard bar food, which looked and smelled good. However, we were there on a liquid diet, so cocktails is all we got, and we were not mad at it. Overall, absolutely in love with Mickey's Tavern. Will absolutely be back on my next visit to Madison!

The bartender assured us that their vegan options were incredible. MadisonTap features many local Wisconsin beers on tap. They seem to often rotate the beers and keep a solid selection. MadisonTap was spacious with bar seats, tables, and booths available. The design and decor were well thought out. The crowd seems to be young professionals in their mid-20s to early 30s. I don't recall the beers I got here but I do remember prices being ~$7-10 range mark. The bartender and owner place special emphasis on being vegetarian and vegan friendly. Even one of the cocktails used vegan butter. There was a single bartender when I visited but it was a bit slow. We had a great conversation and watched Christmas movies on the projectors. Overall, solid experience. 5/5. Favorited in Madison, WI.

We entered from the front of the building. It looks like they feature a different brewery every month. The interior of the bar was pretty classy and new. Their patio was very cool and spacious. A great patio for evening drinks! The live music was pretty good too. Can't speak to the food however, since we didn't eat there.
