1 star Really disappointing experience at Crush at MGM, especially for what should have been a special birthday dinner. The biggest issue started with the menu, it listed halibut, which is exactly what I came for, only to be told it's "not in season." If that's the case, why is it still on the menu? It set the tone for the rest of the evening. Drinks were average at best. My wife's entrée came out overcooked, and my substitute dish (sea bass, since the halibut wasn't actually available) was honestly terrible. The portion was maybe 3 ounces--shockingly small for the price point. I follow a keto diet and specifically asked for melted butter, which the staff did provide. However, the fish arrived covered in a sauce that was never mentioned on the menu. I was told it had no sugar or carbs, but it clearly tasted sweet. After one bite, I didn't feel comfortable continuing and had to leave most of the dish untouched. For a $200+ meal, this was a complete miss--poor execution, lack of transparency on the menu, and overall not worth it. Good food, good service! I was dressed super casual (gym clothes basically) after taking a walk on the strip. I wanted to eat somewhere good but didn't want to change clothes. I was able to tuck away in a booth on the side, watch tv on my phone and have a nice meal by myself. It was perfect! The short rib gnocchi was fabulous. Not your typical gnocchi. It had a bit of a crust of the outside and soft inside which made it very unique. I really enjoyed it. I also had the Brussel sprouts. If you like your sprouts crispy, I don't recommend these. This is my favorite restaurant in Vegas. It's gorgeous with an intimate atmosphere, the food is delicious, the staff is always amazing, and you cannot beat the prices for the quality. The only negative was where we were seated - again we didn't have a res and got seated quick so we took what we could get and were grateful - it was a table that was connected but lower to the bar which was awkward. Good things - our server was pretty good, and the restaurant was dark and pretty quiet (and escape from all the gambling chatter. But we went there to eat and that was nothing to write home about. I had a burger, medium, but it was soggy because the bun sat in "juices" meaning that I couldn't pick it up and eat it like a hamburger should be eaten - out comes a knife and fork and it was pretty bland. We had a really unfortunate visit here recently. We came during the MGM Cyber Attack meltdown. And while some service lapses during that confusing time were to be expected, what happened here was just bad. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The place wasn't busy. We have dined at most places at MGM Grand but not Crush, so we were really looking forward to this. The cheesesteak dumplings weren't bad, but not as interesting as the menu description alludes to. And at $23, they're overpriced. I'd skip these. I don't remember what else we ordered and it doesn't matter because we never received anything else. We had our appetizer and the server came over several times to fill up water and iced tea. But no food. We started looking around and noticed that no one in the restaurant seemed to have any food. That was curious. After sitting for 45 minutes, we finally decided that enough was enough and got up to leave. We were hungry and frustrated that no one was explaining or even acknowledging what was happening. We went to the hostess stand and asked to pay for what we had already "enjoyed". After checking with the kitchen, the hostess or manager came back and told us that there was no charge and apologized. We still don't know what happened. And honestly, we wouldn't have left or been unhappy if someone had just TOLD us that there was an issue. We understood that the MGM properties were all dealing with extraordinary challenges but just let us know that there is a problem and that the food is indeed coming out. Tell us that the computers are down and the kitchen is slow although that doesn't really explain why they can't make a burger. I can't imagine why our server didn't say something. Anything. The waitress, was less than friendly to us. While telling her no dairy since I'm lactose intolerant, she wouldn't look at me and barely acknowledged me. First time at Crush. The design of the restaurant catches your attention immediately with open oaths throughout and comfortable seating areas. The menu offers a nice variety of American classics. I had the shrimp risotto ($38) which had six perfectly cooked shrimp and a tomato, basil risotto with a deep rich flavor. The short rib ricotta gnocchi also looked spectacular from a nearby plate (that person literally cleaned his plate). My only criticism would be some of the prices. I know it's the strip but $78 for a top sirloin steak?? Crush is located inside the MGM Grand. It's one of the few MGM Grand restaurants I hadn't eaten at yet. Keep in mind, I was very hungry. This was the last day of a poker (and business) trip and I had averaged one meal per day. On this day, it was about 6:30 p.m. and I had only had one slice of pizza and three beers throughout the day. I'm mentioning this because anything is going to taste good in this situation. I was really aiming for portion before my flight. I ate here because I saw pictures of the Chicken Parm and its portion size on Yelp Photos. It's not common I would order Italian food in a restaurant that also serves Greek food, but I needed the calories. The Chicken Parm was good, not great. But it did the trick based on my needs at the time. I wish there was bread though. An Italian meal in a restaurant without bread is pretty lame. Ambiance in this joint is excellent though. The lighting is dim and if you're traveling alone, you can eat at one of the two bars. I chose the back bar because most patrons likely don't know about it and it's less crowded. Service was good. She was very professional yet not very personable (in a polite way), which was fine. I was just hungry. For prices, the Chicken Parm was $34 and I had to pay an extra $8 for the Rigatoni, which is ludicrous. You only go here for the vibe and portion size, nothing else. I was invited to a networking dinner at Crush during a conference at the MGM. Normally for these types of dinners, you expect a moderately nice restaurant with standard fare. So I was pleasantly surprised when I was served my drinks and dinner at Crush. Unlike my typical reviews, I have less insight into the booking process, the service, or the price, so this review will be based solely on the quality of the food and drinks. I got the Ricotta Gnocchi with Beef Short Rib, and oh my, it was something else. The gnocchi was amazing, dense, and satisfying with an atypical *hint of sweetness. Then covered with a rich beef short rib ragu that complimented the gnocchi perfectly. In my picture the dish looks modest but trust me, you'll have a tough time finishing it. Along with my dinner I had one of their Old Fashioned's which was done right (there should be NO muddled fruit in an old fashioned and their bartender knows how the drink should be prepared). Not sure why this restaurant isn't sitting on a solid four stars, but I think that it's under rated. Casual dining, nice atmosphere. read more
