good facility and equipment but absolutely filthy! management places no priority on cleanliness and ignores complaints.

I had a disappointing experience with Crunch Fitness in Bloomington, IL. When I joined, I was told I would be shown how to properly use the equipment, but that never happened. Instead, most of the time was focused on pressure to purchase personal training sessions. I also experienced an issue with billing after my bank card was compromised and replaced around my billing cycle. The follow-up phone call I received regarding the missed payment felt rude and unprofessional in tone. When I later attempted to cancel my membership, I was informed that an additional month of payment was still required, which was frustrating given the situation. I want to preface this by saying I only write reviews if places are genuinely horrible enough to earn them. This Crunch Fitness is has 100% earned every 1 start review it has. I was a member at this Crunch for almost a year before I had to cancel my membership due to moving across the country to an apartment complex with a gym. First, they tried to convince me to keep it and switch to a different Crunch gym, but when I explained I didn't need a membership, they had me fill out the cancellation forms. However, they never actually cancelled my membership. When I saw the charges on my card the next month, I reached out to them and provided documentation of my cancellation so they would cancel it. They said they would take care of it. They didn't. The next month, I reached out to my bank to block my card and file a dispute for the extra two extra months of charges. I told Crunch and told them I was still being charged. They still didn't cancel. Fast forward FOUR MONTHS, and I'm getting texts, calls, emails, and voicemails from Crunch every single week harassing me to pay my invoice despite me cancelling my membership and not stepping foot in any Crunch gym since June. Today I spoke to a kind woman on the phone that finally admit they never actually cancelled the membership, and that if I tried to cancel it on the app the GM would take care of it. However, the GM has proven to be largely useless as he is completely unresponsive despite saying he would take care of things in July, August, and September. There are a ton of gyms in the BloNo area. The only thing special about this one is that they scam their customers and seem to have an abundance of incompetent employees. It's not surprising they have 1.5 stars here. Lots of fake reviews on Google it seems. I was excited to try this place, but my experience left much to be desired. They refused to grant me a free day pass without showing proof of a lease, which felt unnecessarily rigid. Worse, the staff (two young men) on the floor that evening were dismissive and unhelpful, walking away mid-conversation. It gave the impression that they couldn't care less about earning my business--or yours, especially if you're someone like me who splits time between here and elsewhere. The dismissiveness not only ruined my evening but likely will yours if you encounter the same treatment. Save yourself the frustration and consider other options. They seemed to take pleasure in this meaning the management lets them get away with this. Anytime Fitness took me to try out the gym. I'll likely just go there for the months I'm here now. If I could give this place 0 starts I would. I got a membership here because I wanted to work on myself and it went to s**t. I have called the gym because I didn't have enough money in my bank account to pay for the next month. I wanted to cancel my membership so I didn't pay for the next month and then have to pay an overdraft fee from my bank. When I called they told me instead of canceling how about we freeze your membership. I thought that would be fine so I said okay go ahead with that. He told me he froze my membership so I wouldn't have to pay for the next month. The next day I got a notification from my bank saying I was negative. I looked to see why I was negative and I saw a charge for $29.99 and $54.99 from Crunch. I was very upset about this because I called ahead of time for that very reason of being negative in my bank account. Also I had no idea what the charge for $54.99 was for. I went to the gym so I could talk to a manager about what was going on with these charges. They told me I was charged for my membership ($29.99) and an annual membership (54.99). I told them that I didn't want an annual membership (if I wanted that I would have gotten it at the beginning). They then said that after 3 months they charged you for the annual automatically. I told them that I was never told that when signing up for the membership (if had been told that I wouldn't have gone through with the membership), they then said that they couldn't do anything about these charges. I said well then just cancel my membership I don't wanna be charged again from these people. They told me I would have to come in again before the next payment to cancel it and pay a final fee of $29.99 (my membership price). So now I have to pay $29.99 and $54.99 also on top of that another $29.99 and $35 for my overdraft fee from my bank while I am negative. This gym is the shadiest place I have ever been. They prey on people like me and take it's honestly disgusting. Their employees don't inform you enough about the membership so then you are at fault because of something they didn't tell you about. The worst gym I have ever been to hands down. I don't recommend getting a membership here at all. Crunch you need to do a better job training your employees when it comes to signing people up for memberships and telling them everything that's important. read more
