We went up the mountain in summer and it was just SO Heidi. Apart from the mountain bikers who use the cable cars to get to the top of the mountain and then provide entertainment for the more staid walkers and sightseers by plunging back down the mountain with (apparently) no fear.
But if you ignore the mad bikers you can walk for miles on the top of the Jura mountains enjoying the most wonderful views of the Alps, Lake Leman, Cern, the airport, the other mountains. You'll meet cows with bells on and see where the skiing takes place in the winter.
At the top of the cable car there is a restaurant and with a balcony terrace so you can enjoy the view (and watch the bikers disappearing down what seems to be a sheer drop).
Can't wait for the winter when it opens again for the skiing.
(Which reminds me - it is best to check on the website for the opening days and times. We went the next week with friends from England only to find it was shut for the autumn even though it was still August and amazing weather). read more
