Croxton park hotel seems to exude a certain sense of sadness. Perhaps this is because of it's desolate and unsettling nature of the gaming area or the wide empty spaces. Most fittingly a throwback and vanguard of much older times when choosing a meal outside of the home was limited to pub fare. I know there was, and for some people is, a time a place for the pub, but it just seems so lonesome and melancholic with the other dining spots these days. it adheres closely to the original and traditional formula, and doesn't stray.
Sticking with a range of traditional proven favourites, rather than anything new, we're stuck with unexciting and uninspiring menu options. The only dish I had; the barramundi, seemed to be laden with a 1:1 ratio of tartar sauce, but really I think the chef was trying to change the molecular density of the universe with an abhorrent overdose of the stuff. The rest; crappy chips and a a tired old salad with too many raw onions. This is a peculiar oddity given my high disdain and avoidance of fish.
inside it doesn't get much better either with a sterile, lackluster, depressing and rather apathetic old world setting. The Tab pokies/gaming section only seems to augment the aforementioned melancholic environment one finds inside. While this type of venue works for some people, it strikes me as the last bastion and refuge of lonely old men with forgotten about lives and absent in people who care. Ergo, you can't help but feel a little deflated when here, it's devoid of anything motivating. Definitely not suited to younger people outside the main demographic, it seems not a place where happy memories are made. oddly enough, nor is it one where entertainment happens, unless you happen to revel in the distopian greyscale filters of out of luck society.
While all this may not strikes as obvious on first encounter, it is likely to slowly creep up on you. On a final note; all staffs do their best here in their respective jobs/roles so no forward disrespect or bad words to or against them. It's just not my kind of place, personally speaking. read more
