It's not pushy sales people like you find in Carmel and other coastal towns. I wasn't swept into a room and offered champagne. The sales staff allows you to walk around and view without harassment. At one point we were asked if we would like to take a picture of some art we like. Some Fine Arts Museums have changed their policies and now allow photography in parts of their permanent collections. However, they typically ban all photography in special exhibitions, which are often the main reason people are visiting. Galleries are trying to sell art so typically pictures would be ban. I appreciated the gesture. We practiced the best self-control we possibly could however after falling in love with this picture the first visit we had to purchase the second visit. The manager at the gallery contacted the artist and before we could get back to Portland our offer was accepted. It was simple and easy. We arranged a pickup date instead of having it delivered. It actually used to be a fish processing plant and was converted…read more Speaking of fish, there are a lot of beautiful and whimsical glass and ceramic fish laying about on shelves and in the glass cases. You'll also find other beautiful glass items of hot glass sculptures such as octopus and crab etc. Huge paintings are hanging throughout the shop as well and include a large selection of the amazing Yaquina Bay bridge. They have very lovely jewelry in their cases including some sea glass work. There's a second floor that has a great Mickey collection and other works of art upstairs. It's one of the first galleries on the street as you head down Bay St. from the Coast Guard station. And if this all seems a little fishy to you don't take my word for it. This cabin in the woods is stocked floor-to-ceiling with handmade creations perfect for my collection. The studio features a number of artists, each with drastically different styles. You'll find everything from clay mugs to wall decor for your home. I snagged a large green pot and a wind chime with orcas. The owner was absolutely fabulous and even assisted me in mailing an item home for a surprise birthday gift. Highly highly recommend visiting on your trip up the Oregon coast. In fact, it's mandatory.
