I wouldn't call it a deli really, but the food served here was on point and for a fair price. I picked up a serving of the Shepherd's Pie; ranch-flavored chicken wings; and $0.99 Dasani water. The chicken wings were pretty good, but the Shepherd's Pie is what did it for me. Not only did you get a heaping pile of it, it was definitely kind of the comfort food your mom used to make. It was so filling I could have done without the wings. The station itself is a bit run down but it's actually pretty clean, considering (unless you're from some affluent neighborhood). Customer service was good but nowhere close to the "omotenashi (おもてなし)" you'd experience in Japan. The bathroom was a pretty standard small gas station bathroom. It was clean but with that 'perma-stench' aroma. You access it from the outside by the diesel pumps.

The prices are similar to that of Whole Foods, Fresh Market and Earth Fare with the exception of the meats. I saw fresh seasoned catfish filets and large jerk chicken thighs for under $5. Today they had vegan stir fry and vegan shepherd's pies as the vegan entrees and about four other non-vegan entrees. The produce looked fresh and was also reasonably priced. I look forward to really shopping there when I need to stock up on fresh produce and meats.

What made the experience even more frustrating was bringing these concerns to the manager and feeling like she simply didn't care. There was no sense of urgency, concern, or effort to address the issue. Good customer service starts with good management, and unfortunately, that was completely lacking. Her management skills should be reevaluated because this level of indifference is unacceptable, especially when customers are spending a significant amount of money. I'm largely ignorant of the vast diversity of Indian cuisine, but I suspect that the Indian diaspora of Tallahassee is not - and as such, I suspect they come here for key ingredients unavailable elsewhere. I do know there is a much newer Indian market down the road, but I'm barely able to determine what I want beyond Tea and Chutney here - so comparing the two would be foolhardy. I view this market much as I do Lynn's Asian for the stereotypically oriental foodstuffs. I see the frozen bins, the coolers, the produce and the pantry items somewhat similarly arranged. I'm all about frequenting one of our four Indian restaurants in town, but I've never prepared Indian food (other than the times when I do use a nawabi meat masala powder on certain barbequed meats - but that's neither here nor there). For those of you that already know the virtues of Little India, my pathetic review is of little value - but for the rest of just now getting your feet wet in the vast ocean that is Indian cuisine - then y'all c'mon down to Li'l India's emporium of goodness!

While I can say this store has the basics of what you would need to cook an Indian dish (or similar). There are many authentic brands and spices that cannot be found in a local grocery store. There is an extremely small produce section and the produce didn't look fresh at all. In addition to the spices, there are teas, herbs, chutney's, rice, beans and an abundance of frozen items. Although "organized," the store has an extremely old feel to it that can sometimes be viewed as unclean. The gentleman behind the counter (likely the owner) was in his own little world having a videochat with someone possibly in his native language. He responded nicely when I asked him a question. I was the only customer in there and I gauged that this place is never high volume. I wouldn't knock this place off of the list, but it would not be my "go to."
