Wow! Ed and his team are amazing. I belong to a local club of custom car enthusiasts in South Orange County including longstanding members of over nearly 50 years. Do not go anywhere else for transmission work. My wife's Lexus RX350 had the transmission go out at around 110,000 miles. I know, I know, Lexus's aren't supposed to do that, but it did. After looking up reviews online I came across Crown Valley Transmission. They were very honest with me and helped guide me as to what the best option was for solving this issue. We can either replace very expensive parts and hope that it fixes the issue or replace the entire transmission with a brand new factory tranny. We ended up going with the later option. I was surprised that they were able to find a transmission so quickly when the local Lexus dealer had told me it was out of stock. When speaking to Ed, he let me know that he called around and found a dealer in Northern California that had one available. He really went the extra mile to make sure that we had a great experience. I needed someone to take a look at the transmission on my 70 Chevelle SS. Its got a Muncie M-22, which in the muscle car world, is a pretty famous/rare kind of trans. I didn't want just any shop taking it out & taking it apart. After looking around on Yelp for a while, I saw that Crown Valley Transmissions had some classic cars reviews on their Yelp page. I emailed Ed & he got right back to me. Fast forward a bit, I drop my car & Ed has his own 64 Chevelle on one of the lifts in his shop. That's a good sign for someone like me who's looking for a shop that knows classic cars. Turns out I needed a bunch of stuff, trans internals, a new clutch & flywheel, etc. I gave Ed the green light & about 10 days later, everything was done. Now here's where you know you've picked the right vendor. That's right, its when something goes wrong. I pick up the car, drive it home & notice the next morning, there's a new leak. I email Ed a few days later & he says, if its the trans, don't worry we'll take care of it. Well, turns out a seal wasn't completely tight. Ed took the trans out, had the seal fixed & got me the car back a few days later. No charge, no hassles, just taking care of business. The transmission failed the day before our family vacation on our primary family mini van - a 2006 Kia Sedona. I was anxious about what to do. Crown Valley was my 2nd opinion, after my car dealership insisted I needed an entire transmission overhaul, immediately. Ed explained to me that my 1999 Miata is simply showing its age. He told me the odd noises which had concerned me were most likely attributable to parts being more worn or "soft", as he described them. He did not recommend spending money for a new transmission in a car that, absent funny noises in reverse and an occasional delay getting into 1st gear when cold, runs pretty well. He did, of course, tell me to stay attuned to changes and increased or more consistent issues. I drove away feeling richer and, frankly, proud of the care I've taken of my little 2-seater. May she last another year before I need to take her back to Ed. I should also note that each time I called the shop, Ed answered his phone and was both polite & informative. I recently had my transmission rebuilt by Crown Valley Transmission, and I am so impressed by the above and beyond workmanship and integrity of Ed and his staff. Being about as car mechanics-savvy as a toaster, I am always extremely wary of bringing my car in for repairs unless I have a long-standing relationship with the mechanic. However my regular mechanic sent me here to Crown Valley Transmission when the (previously rebuilt by someone else) transmission conked out, and his recommendation was spot on. I am blown away by the forthright manner of this company. They are one hundred percent on the level and I will absolutely be giving them my business in the future - but not for awhile, because I'm pretty sure this transmission will last me until the car dies completely. Absolutely tremendous. I brought my work truck in that needed a torque converter. They quoted me a very fair price and completed the work very quickly. The truck runs excellent now. They remove some of the items extra weight from my truck so it could fit on their lift. They put everything back nice and neater than I brought it in . They went way above and beyond to get me back on the road and making money the next day. When I arrived it was clear that they are transmission experts. All the five star reviews are well earned. Ed diagnosis was indeed to replace the trans, but rather than just take the service he suggested I go to the dealer and try to see if I could get a replacement under my expired warranty since my mileage was still low.
