We needed a dog friendly place, did a little online research and chose this place. It sounded just the job and so it proved to be. The staff and the punters couldn't keep their hands off the wee mutt, free biscuits, water and cuddles kept her happy, and the service for us was pretty good too. It's very much a traditional old bar, but in no way tired-looking.
I ordered the cullen skink, and the beef lasagne. The soup was pretty good, it was a bit creamier tasting than I prefer, I like it smokier, but it had plenty of fish and potato in it. A very decent start. My beef lasagne and chips, well the chips were nicely cooked, and the lasagne was good and solid as I like. It had a cheddar style topping rather than parmesan, so it was quite rich and not exactly authentic, but I have to confirm that we all left feeling that the whole experience was a very good one. read more
