My wife and I ate,here on Sat 2/2/13,We chose the fish and chip meal, the fish(they claimed was cod) came in a slimy wet soggy,sloppy coat of paste like matter,and I do mean matter, they called it batter,and it was what caterers call the tail end,(the cheapest possible cut) I think the food heater warmer upper( for it was NO Chef or cook) had boiled it instead of deep frying it, the chips clearly came from the cardboard factory in Witham, and the peas were stone cold and had the texture of bullets! At a few pence under a tenner a throw, very very poor!I had a pint of Fosters lager which had a head that a Guinness would be proud of, it was creamy and stuck to the inside of the glass like frosting,and at £3:85 a pint it was a rip off(I usually pay around £2:40 a pint and it is a good one) !My wife's Coke was that cheap muck made from syrup and river water. In all a never to be repeated and and extortionate and certainly NOT recommended experience,coupled with bored, discourteous,unhelpful staff,We shall not be revisiting!
I would appreciate any recommendations as to where to eat in Manningtree, at a sensibly priced and decent food venue for a small family gathering in the future. read more
