I came to see Bonnie Parker's grave and that felt meaningful. However, because it was on Dia de Los Muertos, there were festivities. I've been to DLM festivities that are tasteful, but these just felt creepy and off putting. A lot of people pushing into the parking lot. The guy directing traffic was helpful though.

We had to search for her grave. Beautiful Bonnie. Under the intense heat of the sun and the humidity being 50%....it seemed like running a marathon. I eyed a few homeless sleeping under a few trees that I kept my distance from...just in case. the cemetery is not huge at all. A mausoleum sits in the center. Circled by grass from one end to the other. Barbara said she remembered it was by hedges. The entire cemetery was riddled with hedges. Oy. Makes it that much harder. From the back of the cemetery to almost to the front. I found her. Within feet of Scott's stepfathers parents grave....where we had started. The heat was the only part of this story that sucked. The rest was an adventure.

The Parker plot.

Cemetery entrance is on the Webb Chapel Extension Road. Turn left at the first fork in the road (very close to the gate you entered into) stop and park within 100-200 yards. Bonnie's site is near a line of bushes on the right. I walked past it twice before I found it. There was no one else around but the cemetery is on a major in Dallas so there is a lot of traffic noise. It's not a good area of town so go early and be aware of your surroundings (be sure to lock your car). It was a great stop in the dead and famous of Dallas.

Notice the Camel cigarette, it is the duo's preferred smoke brand. I guess someone really knows the history.

If you are here to see Bonnie's site, Tawnya G and Jen B's instruction are pretty accurate. The only thing I want to add is that her site is right next to Tyner's tombstone (probably more visible from the road) Another note: be VERY CAREFUL driving on the road inside the cemetary, some of the potholes is deeper than Grand Canyon. So pay attention. FYI - if you want to see Clyde's grave, it is at Western Heights Cemetery. 5 fun facts about the duo: 1) 20,000 people attended Bonnie's funeral, flowers were send from everywhere, the largest floral tribute was sent by a group of Dallas city newsboys; the death of Bonnie and Clyde sold 500,000 newspapers in Dallas alone 2) Bonnie was a married woman, just not to Clyde. She got married to Roy Thornton when she was 16, who was a thief and cheat, Bonnie Parker died with her wedding ring still on her finger. Divorce was not really an option for a known fugitive. Roy was serving a 5 year sentence when Bonnie died 3) Officially, Bonnie was shot 26 times and Clyde was shot 17 times, unofficially, that number was much higher. Bonnie was still holding onto a half eaten sandwich when she was shot 4) One of the undertaker assisted in the funeral, Dillard Darby, was kidnapped by Bonnie and Clyde a year earlier after his car had been stolen by them. At the time, Bonnie thought it was hilarious that they kidnapped an undertaker, she asked Dillard to take care of the gang's mortuary needs in the future, give him 5 dollars and released him. 5) Although both Bonnie and Clyde are chain smokers (Camels is their preferred brand), but she doesn't smoke cigars, the image of her smoking a cigar is just pose. She does drink whiskey and get drunk, Clyde, on the other hand, doesn't drink because he needs to be alert in case they need to make a fast getaway.

Bonnie is buried on the left side of this hedge.

Such a beautiful location. Have a family friend who is lay to rest here. We come every other week…read moreto visit his plot and water his grass. Did see a couple of wild skunks come out of the bushes.

Mom had arranged everything in advance, so we thought it would be easy. No. The meeting to make…read moreservice arrangements needed 2 men with different duties - it was like a "good cop - bad cop" interrogation with characters out of the Munsters. We were taken to an underground bunker, using an aged elevator - in which we were told "you don't want to know what this and the offices we are going to were previously used for." Ugh. That meeting included a requirement for $1,052 for a 6"x3" plaque on the existing grave marker, being shown how much money we had "saved" (line by line) compared to today's prices, upselling options, and suggestions to pay in advance for our own funerals asap - to save or families from the cost. We also were told about the importance of doing as instructed because graves were being claimed and bodies disposed of by criminals posing as relatives and reselling the sites. It couldn't have been more grim. The graveside site visit (to an unkempt mess, and area that is clearly not maintained in any way (with misaligned and damaged grave markers, broken walls, damaged signage and uncut grass) included being shown available plots in the even rougher areas in case we wanted to buy today, and having to listen to the escorting staff's personal tragedies... instead of being allowed to focus on our own loss. The second bunker meeting ended being asked to hand over the $1,050 because it takes 3 months to get the marker, being told that the flower people were too busy to speak with us, and a reminder that their jobs were in danger if we gave any bad feedback. When we said that we did not need some of the paid for items, the required reimbursement to the estate was promised and has been defaulted on for 2 months despite multiple calls and promises to resolve. Oh, and on the day, they forgot the pall bearer's boutonnières. It took 2 months to get the death certificate - and only then by calling multiple times when they told us thy had been lost in the mail... yes really. We went and got them ourselves in the end. We were left no choice but report this place to the Texas Funeral Service Commission (TFSC). Btw - the flowers ended up being x3 the price they are elsewhere - so we didn't use this place for those - neither should you. Bottom line - Steer clear, and if you're already committed, be ready to deal with a used car lot level customer service.

Another missing review?…read more I've been stopping in here for 30 years and know I've reviewed it before. Oh well. If you like historical cemeteries.... Go! Many prominent Dallisites including,Mayors, 6, financiers, developers etc are interned here. It is a beautiful place. Not taken care of quite as well as in the past but not abandoned either. My favorite grave is of a man named Slaughter. Check out the Texas historical marker photo and picture of his granite tomb. There is a multi-generational family of grey foxes living here in the shadow of downtown that's a pleasant surprise every time I stop in.

Went today & this lady driving a van started following me & my mom & asked us if we were going to a service & we told her no . She drove away then 5 minutes later she comes back & asks what were looking for & told her looking for the florist & all she said it's the first building, didnt say which way that would be so we turned around & she drove away . Again about another 5 minutes she comes back & says ma'am it's the first building again giving no directions like go away if your not going to be helpful & if I wanted your help I'd ask you . She was very rude . So we went inside the mausoleum & asked someone where it was & that lady was very nice & gave helpful directions . Idk if that fist lady was supposed to be security or just supposed to be helpful but she was very rude & not helpful .

Ginger did an excellent job explaining every aspect of cremation and pre-payment. She made us feel comfortable and let me make my own choices based on my desires. Following the death, that necessitated the pre-planing, Rosanna answered all my questions immediately, kept me aware of timing and even made deliveries to my home. I would highly recommend Rolling Oaks Funeral Home, Coppell, TX to anyone who is interested in pre-planning and funeral services.

Funeral arrangements are never something you want to have to endure, but Becca made everything so…read moreeasy. She was very accommodating, and offered solutions to any situation we faced. She took care of requesting the military flag presentation service, catering arrangements, flower arrangements, ordering death certificates, cremation arrangements, and a whole list of other items. We decided to use a large photo instead of displaying an urn during the service, and Becca was able to locate and let us borrow the perfect picture stand. It was really nice to know that someone else was thinking of all the small details during a time of grief when it was difficult for my family to focus on event planning. Their website's online obituary (aka Everlasting Memorial) allows you to upload photos of your loved one that recently passed away. Those photos are then used to create a slide show that can be played during the funeral service. The slide show comes with somber default music, but you can also provide your own music specific to your loved one. My family received multiple compliments on the quality of the slide show. You can also request additional DVDs of the slide show (potential fee), and a custom sticker will be added to the face of the DVD with your loved one's picture on it. The facility is very clean and welcoming, and my family was very impressed with the services they provided. They are also very community-focused. Becca explained that if there was food leftover from the reception that the family didn't want to take home, then she would bring the leftovers to a nearby fire station. If there were any flowers that the family didn't take home, then they would bring the flowers to a nearby hospice or hospital to brighten their day. I would definitely recommend using Rolling Oaks, and specifically recommend working with Becca.
