The location is great, easy trail access, and (somewhat) reasonably priced. We often leave on a Friday afternoon to get a night ride in. What is somewhat annoying is the temperature of the cabin is in the 50s (in the winter months) when you arrive. Meaning, we have to wait for the temp to rise before going for a ride as it's like changing in a walk-in cooler. Not the best way to start a ride on a cold winter's night. Though the other 5 cabins had a picnic table and fire ring, Cabin 1 had a picnic table buried in snow, and no fire ring (though perhaps it was also buried). We had planned on using both, so this was disappointing. It would also be nice if you didn't risk your neck having to navigate the narrow, icy path to the restrooms/showers. Lastly, each cabin should really have a comprehensive trail map on the wall. They would get so much use. Overall, it's a fun place, but could certainly use a tune-up.

The resort itself was great, with complementary pontoon rides & banana boat rides too. The cantina was awesome for their slushies or mexican food to eat on the beach! The shuttle was AWESOME to bring you all over! A few things: the beach was pretty gross at the time we were there... with weeds everywhere. We also didnt really have anywhere to park at our cabin, so that was a bit tough.. but maybe if you park & shuttle it'd be ok too?? Overall, I need to explore even more of the resort & I cant wait to come back!

This year I called to book the same cabin, however I was told our cabin was already booked due to a 7 year calendar adjustment! The family who rented our cabin the week before now could book our 4th weekend due to the switch! Our family got moved out a week (week after the 4th) but could rent the same cabin! Frustrating since the reason we stay at GV are for all of the 4th activities! Reservations ended up booking us a different cabin instead of a 3 bedroom 3 bath it was a two bedroom the same price as our original cabin (with 3 bedrooms). We ended up canceling the whole thing!

We stayed in Cabin 1 which is actually a trailer with an attached screen porch. Tiny but enough space for 2. Lots of cute, personalized touches like a chalkboard greeting us by name and some fresh cookies on the table. The only problem was that it was a very humid weekend and the wall air conditioner in the living room just didn't help the bedrooms. Kayaks are free to take out, which I loved! The calm water in the cove plus rhe nearby channels are perfect for kayking. Staff and owners are very friendly and helpful. You need to bring your own towels and soap for the shower. This isn't a big resort so no restaurant or anything like that on-site. Not much of a beach so I don't think I'd bring small children. More for adults who want to relax and maybe boat.

Yes, I would love it if the showers were bigger and I could do laundry while I was there, but you know what, you can't have everything, and sitting on the screened in porch with my coffee and a book in the morning and canoeing in the afternoon or playing on the little beach makes it all worthwhile. Sue and staff do a wonderful job here and there's a good reason they are often booked months in advance.

The lighting, the ambiance, the amenities were next level. My friends all commented that it looked like we're staying in a fairy garden and that was exactly how it felt. Beds were very comfortable. Ample plug ins for electrical devices which is pretty rare. The one and only thing I would say that is even close to negative is that the front door was difficult to lock which was a minor annoyance that we eventually figured out. What we didn't realize was that children, in fact, were not allowed to stay. After abruptly being made aware of this quite important little detail, the owner referred me to their "FAQ" section under the heading, "Is Cuyuna Cove right for me?" She actually expects guests to sift through over 20 FAQs just to find a buried notation that children are "not suitable." You can imagine how devastated we all were, especially our two young children. What's worse is that she, at first, wouldn't offer any refund and even suggested we book another local rental. We've already lost $1,000 and now you have the audacity to recommend forking up another several hundred dollars so we can enjoy a weekend we've planned for months?? We ended up having to turn around and drive the 3 hours back home. No hiking, no biking, no restaurants. For a locally owned business, we are appalled at the utter lack of compassion and understanding.

It became clear throughout the planning process that the resort is primarily focused on corporate events rather than weddings. The wedding and events team was consistently reactive instead of proactive. Follow-up emails were rarely sent without prompting, and we often had to reach out multiple times before receiving a response. On average, it took more than three days to receive a reply, and even then, it was typically only after we followed up ourselves. We also experienced several situations where information we were given earlier in the process was later changed or contradicted. In addition, the resort does not include room blocks or room guarantees in wedding contracts, which creates unnecessary uncertainty for our guests and made planning more difficult. The property itself is stunning, and I can absolutely understand why it's a favorite destination for corporate retreats and families who have been returning for years. Unfortunately, our experience made it clear that weddings are not their priority. If you're looking for a venue that values the details of your wedding, provides consistent communication, and offers a couple-centered planning experience, I would encourage you to consider other options.

Outside of the cabins you can dock your boat. The lake provides amble fish for our annual end of week fish fry. The garage mirage as the kids call it has ice cream, slushies, candy, games and other necessities. There is laundry facilities in case you need to wash something. You can also grab a sweatshirt, t-shirt, hat or other souvenir. Nisswa is just down the road with lots of shops, restaurants, and coffee shops. Pirate's Cove is also just down from road. Zobaz's is easy to get to by boat or car. Lots to see and do!
