Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were disappointed to find both pools closed--a fact that was never mentioned on the website or during booking. The website was also out of date, with no notice about the pool closures or the restaurant being closed. This lack of communication was a huge letdown for us and especially hard on our kids. After receiving a text that our room was ready, we checked in only to find the room still dirty. The staff did try to help by sending a manager intern, who found us another room, but that one was also dirty and needed cleaning. We ended up waiting an additional 30-45 minutes before we could finally get settled. Once we were finally in, we found the condo-style cabins to be cute and comfortable, with a nice deck and great views of the golf course and lake (though some big pine trees block part of the view). There's plenty of parking, and the property has several docks for fishing and a large marina, which was a big hit with our family. However, due to pool construction, the trail to the marina dock was blocked, forcing us to take a much longer and less convenient route. We had fun fishing and caught some big sunfish off the main marina dock. The restaurant had a nice deck and a DJ, but closes pretty early and the food is quite pricey. The community fire pits are a great touch, with plenty of wood provided for guests to enjoy a classic evening of s'mores. As a gesture of goodwill for the pool closure, the resort offered us a two-hour pontoon rental, which was appreciated but didn't fully make up for the disappointment and lack of communication. We tried to rent a fishing boat, but it had mechanical issues. The marina crew was super helpful and gave us a good deal on a full-day pontoon rental instead, which turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Big thanks to Rob and Casey at the marina--they were friendly, hardworking, and made our experience so much better. The kids had an absolute blast on the lake! We also enjoyed the ice cream shop and took out kayaks and other water toys, which were reasonably priced and lots of fun. At first, we weren't sure if we would return or recommend Ruttger's to others, but the marina crew truly turned things around for us and made the end of our trip memorable. I would recommend this resort to families and groups, but I really hope management improves communication, keeps the website updated, and ensures rooms are ready and clean for arriving guests. With a few improvements, this could be an amazing place for a family getaway.

The bed was incredibly comfortable, and everything in the room worked as expected. The only minor issue we noticed was that the bathroom sink drained a little slowly. While there was no daily housekeeping during our stay, the staff was fantastic about providing anything we needed. We also had an issue with a clogged toilet and staff responded within about 5 minutes, which was awesome customer service. That said, it might be nice to have plungers available in the bathrooms to save guests a little embarrassment. I absolutely have to mention that the nachos were some of the best we've ever had. The portion size was massive and they were fully loaded! Also the Cajun Alfredo was phenomenal (we even got it to-go a couple times to heat up later and it was still amazing)! Highly recommend!!! A few improvements I think would make the resort even better: * Better soundproofing. We were in room 124 and could hear the bar throughout the night. Thankfully it was never extremely loud, but it was noticeable at times. * Blackout curtains/window coverings instead of the current white blinds. The morning sun comes through very aggressively. * A fish cleaning house would be an amazing addition. My partner and I are huge fishers and caught over 100 fish during our stay, but couldn't keep any because there wasn't a place to clean them. * During our stay, we noticed the food prices we were charged did not match the menu we had originally been given. On the last night of our stay, we were provided an updated menu dated 6/3/26, which means we had been given an outdated menu while still being charged the newer pricing. Since our stay was from 6/4/26 through 6/7/26, it would have been nice to have received the updated menu from the start to avoid confusion, though I completely understand that new menus can take some time to roll out. (Plus there were newly-updated items on the menu that we would have loved to have ordered previously)! * There are currently no onsite laundry amenities available (at least for the suites). For guests like us who prefer to pack light or stay for multiple days, having laundry facilities onsite would be a really nice addition. Also, I saw a previous review mentioning loud headboards and can confirm that issue seems to have been fixed, at least in our room. ;) Overall, we had a GREAT stay and are already planning to return!

The Walleye fingers and Canadian Walleye were excellent. The steak was fine. But the Walleye meal and steak meal game with small portions of vegetables and potatoes. We spent our days mountain biking Cuyuna's singletrack, and it was so nice to come back, lock the bikes up in the secure storage, and settle in without having to load anything onto a car. The cabin itself was perfect. It's thoughtfully designed, with the big windows looking out into the trees, and it felt cozy and comfortable while still connected to the outdoors. Everything was spotless, too. You can tell the owners take real pride in keeping the place clean and well cared for. We also got to meet the hosts, and they're genuinely lovely people. They made us feel welcome right away, and that personal touch made the whole stay feel special. If you're heading to Cuyuna to ride, or just want a peaceful, beautiful place to unwind close to Main Street Crosby, we can't recommend Cuyuna Cove enough. We're already planning our return trip!

Cuyuna Cove is also the perfect home base for enjoying the outdoors, whether you're there for mountain biking, hiking, or simply relaxing and taking in the beautiful surroundings. We booked with them this past Labor Day weekend and had a great time. I think some members of my party were expecting less "mountain" and more "biking" than we got at the beginning, but Ashley and Andrew paid attention to us and our needs, and adjusted so those of us who wanted a more level and pavement-based experience could have that, and others could still try their hand at the trails. The value for the cost per night is not as good as it could be. Rooms are small, beds in ours felt like a hide-a-bed with the single mattress and metal frame. Bathroom was functional but really small. Our window air conditioner did not work the first night and there was no one available to assist us until the next day. They did get it fixed but the first night was hot and humid. I would probably seek different accommodations if we were in the area again.
