Croutons is my favourite takeaway lunch stop, especially on a winter's day. They hooked me in with the creamy Boston clam chowder, but I have since developed a fondness for their Indonesian chicken and beef soups. Try to get there before 12.30 or after 1.30 - the queue starts to extend considerably during this peak hour!
The generosity of portions (if you order the Indonesian or tarragon chicken soups, you can also opt to throw in a carb like pasta, rice or noodles for free) and taste makes it a fulfilling lunch.
They charge you $0.30 for card payments, but they used to be cash only anyway, so I'm used to the latter payment method - and they've never run out of shrapnel, so it's never posed a problem.
Also worth trying is the $11 lunch combo, which consists of a cheese melt, soup and a can of drink or bottle of water. The bread can be a little too hard for my liking, though, so I just pick up something from Baker's Delight just further inside the Met Centre instead.
Tldr; The soup is amazing! read more
