So fun!!! Missing all the MN public lakes, we were looking for a place to rent a pontoon and spend the day on the water. Crosswinds was very easy to book. Sign all the papers online, book the boat you want and pay. You will pay additional gas once you get back but it couldn't have gone smoother. The 2 teens that helped us were very helpful and nice. And the boat was very nice and drove well. We all had a nice day on the water. We definitely plan to rent again! read more

We had the best day renting a pontoon from you! The staff (while socially distanced) was very helpful and informative while getting us loaded up and on the water. The condition of the pontoon was very nice! Super clean and definitely a newer boat. (The reviews had me nervous). We literally spent the day socially distanced and technology free and we all needed that! It was easy to get back to the dock and the staff even offered to fill up the tank and just text us the receipt which was great because a wicked storm was rolling in pretty quickly. As a professional experience researcher and designer here is some advice for this business: 1. Make important information quick and easy to read. The signs you use should not require customers to sit down with a cup of coffee to get through. 2. Post No Parking signs in locations where customers are not allowed to park. There are some conflicting signage on this. 3. Train your employees how to properly communicate and resolve issues without using shame as a tactic. You are guaranteed to lose business if you don't take responsibility for these issues. It might even result in bad reviews like this. read more

A friend and I rented kayaks from here today. I had read reviews saying they were disorganized and unhelpful but we didn't find that as true. We were out for two hours and even single kayak cost 10 dollars an hour, which I felt was reasonable. We had free reign of the lake, which was nice! I would recommend if possible going on a week day in the summer. The lake was calm and there was plenty of kayaks (we got there around 9:15). Also since we finished at around 11:15 it was hot but not unbearable! We will definitely go again (if we don't buy our own kayaks first)! :) read more

The boat rental options in Jordan Lake are VERY limited. I found that this was the most reasonably priced out of the 2 or 3 options. The pontoon boats are not high end but they are safe and reliable and always make for a good time. We have rented a 10 passenger twice and the 7 passenger sweet water 2 twice. I actually liked the 7 passenger boat more, but honestly 10 passenger one is more cost effective. MY BIGGEST GRIPE: Is that they are very challenging to get on the phone, its honestly by luck and prayer that I ever get them on the phone. Additionally, they do not respond to email. I would LOVE a book online option. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE You can see online which boats are available, but I don't think the website is terrible reliable. read more

Service at Crosswinds Boating Center was wonderful over the weekend! It was easy to get them on the phone to answer questions, and there were plenty of kayaks to rent without reserving in advance (keep in mind this wasn't the heat of the summer, when it might be better to call and reserve). The lady who checked us in was sweet as can be. Everything was clean and its easy to go in and out from their dock area. I should note that some other kayak rental places on Jordan Lake do not allow two adults to rent a tandem kayak (even if those two adults add up to way less than 500 lbs) - Crosswinds DOES allow this - as long as your combined weight is under 500 lbs. That was a major plus for us. Additionally, Crosswinds has extremely reasonable pricing. They are definitely cheaper than several other kayak rental places in the area. All around, a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back! read more

Say yes to Kayaking!! They've got single and doubles. Singles go up to 250 lbs and the double 500 I think. I took my two little guys out on the lake and we had a blast. We saw eagles, a giant fish, and rode the "waves" like amateur kayaking champions!! Okay really we only lasted an hour out on the lake, but it was totally worth the $15 paid pit to rent the boat!! I totally recommend you checking this place out for bot rentals and summer fun!! read more

I've used crosswinds' kayaks twice, and it's very evident that they just don't care about maintaining the quality of their equipment or providing a good Experience for their customers. The second experience was particularly horrendous; we paid in the boating house and then were told that they would send someone down to get us going. We had first time kayakers with us who had no idea how to paddle or anything. No one showed up to help, no ones even down there managing the equipment so we end up with child sized life vests and one person in our party who didn't even have a life vest. We get out on the water and about 20 minutes into our hour, one kayak starts literally sinking. We end up having to flag down a nice family on a boat to pull my friend out of the lake since she's clinging onto an overturned, sinking kayak. The man on the boat notices that the kayak didn't even have a plug in it. Nice. We pulled the kayak back to shore and dumped it all back, vowing to never return again. Jordan lake needs some alternatives to this dump. read more

Had a very good experience renting stand up paddle boards for the first time. Reserving and paying on line made for minimal contact while we were there. Boards and paddles were fine (though I would have no idea about differences in quality). These boards were impossible to tip over and manageable for my 11 year old. read more

From phone call to finish the staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. We had rented the Aqua Patio which was a very nice, newer pontoon and it was very comfortable. We ended up having engine trouble/full line issues once we were out in the water. We couldn't really go far. We called while out on the boat and they asked us to make the best of it since they had no other pontoons available and would comp our rental. Things happen and sometimes it just doesn't work out the way you plan...as far as I'm concerned customer service is about taking action when issues arise. I was excited about kayaking on jordan lake, but i had to ding these guys for a number of reasons that made the experience less than pleasant. i paid a flat rate up front, then had to do a second charge for my refund. i would have prefered they just hold onto the card, and only charge me once for the time used. It's marked decently from the road, but after going down the dirt path a sign for crosswinds specifically would have helped. The biggest penalty however, came from not having back rests on the kayak. Frankly that's BS. In every other location i've kayaked, all kayaks have had back rests attached, and there were none. i've come to expect them at this point, and the giving me the kayak could have cared less about the discomfort. so, i had to come in earlier than i planned because i was exhausted from holding myself up right in addition to regular paddling. -2 stars for that. Given that there are other options at jordan lake or other locations under no circumstances would i recommend anyone kayak with crosswind rentals. This story changes if they get back rests on the kayak, but until then, they don't deserve your business, kayak some place else. read more

Super reasonably priced way to spend a family afternoon doing something different! We rented a 7 passenger pontoon boat and had a great time! Of course the boats are not in perfect condition but they are rentals. There was nothing grossly wrong with the boat we had. Everything was functional and the boat ran well. Gas was $1 per gallon higher than at the local gas station but I imagine it costs money for them to have it delivered and brought in. Being out on the lake for 4 hours we only used $20 in gas. Their staff was very friendly and helpful. As small business owners ourselves we know the hard work and cost it takes to run a business. We will be back for sure! read more

The new marina owners have been hard at work getting the place up to speed. The broken dock is fixed, the old boards have been replaced on the other docks, they seem to be building a new office, the bathrooms don't make you want to run for the hills (they are still campgroundish bathrooms) and the staff, for the most part is pretty friendly. I wish they priced a little different on weekends during the summer. We are late boaters and usually go out in the evening when everyone else is coming in. It would be nice if they charged less after five. Other than that this is turning into a much better place. I'm so glad they took over! read more

The life jacket were all on the floor in a muddle. We spent a hard time to find the suitable ones. They are very old and have a strong smell. The paddles are too old. After one-hour kayaking, they scratch my hands. What's more. The staff there are really unfriendly. I brought the rest of my lunch. We plan to spend an afternoon at jordan lake. However, the guest room have a large empty refrigerator without commercial things. But when I ask them if I can put my lunch in their empty refrigerator, they refused me. And even I put my lunch box at their air-condition guest room (they needn't to help me look at them) are not allowed by the staff. My food doesn't smell. And there is no written rule about food in the guest room. Their reason was just no guest ask them to do that before! So I had to put my food outside of guest room, just on the ground outside their door. It was spoiled then. They will never do you even a little favor beyond. How excellent businessman are they. read more

Boats are pretty dirty and in poor condition. The prop was even chipped! They are unashamedly unapologetic about misadvertising.

I rented a pontoon from Crosswinds Boating Center on Memorial Day and the experience was excellent! The boats could use a little work (reason for 4 stars), but I had a wonderful customer experience with the management and the price was very reasonable. I will definitely use this business again the next time I want to rent a boat. read more

Nice folks. They worked hard to maintain the place especially with recent flooding in NC last year. But, not very helpful, not sailboat friendly. Docks are old, wood bendy and rotting, and styrofoam flotation is deteriorating. They do the bare minimum of upkeep. The large poles that docks attach to are rusty. They have a wait list so why change. Their location is great for motor boats, not for sailboats in terms of predominant wind direction. Everything is a long walk, from docks to restrooms or to new but limited marina shop. The restrooms are dirty and poorly maintained. Trailer storage is okay but no reliable power or water for washing or working on your boat. read more

I went on a pontoon rental with my family, it was horrible. The seat had mold on them, half of them were ripped, the speakers were cracked open, the gas gage was broken, the speedometer was broken, there was no fire estinguisher, and the pole/handle in the very back were you can hold onto is bent in half. Shockingly they use this boat as a picture for there rentals on there site. When I left a worker chased me down and said I under payed for gas. Then they went back and said nvm, they realized the gage was broken. If you want a real boat rental place that is nice and a place that takes care of there boats look up Jordan Lake Water Sports. I have never been so impressed with a rental before. read more

I've been boating all my adult life and the new management at Crosswinds has proven the value of government imposed MONOPOLY. This is the worst run marina I've ever encountered This is my last year keeping my boat here. In the past 3 years since the new management took over the place has gone totally down hill. They have increased rental/slip charges significantly,hiked the price of gasoline and eliminated 24 hour security. They have fulfilled none of their grandiose promises Things get stolen from your boat, people tie up to your slip that you have paid for and they do nothing about it they are unfriendly and uncaring. BRING BACK THE OLD MANAGEMENT!!! Their valet service for putting in boats is ridiculous. Don't use it! They will damage your boat. It's too bad there is no marina alternative but I guess that's what a monopoly is all about! read more
