I have never had a pleasant shopping experience at this location, which is unfortunate because it is one of a few consignment stores in CU. Also, I frequent thrift stores in the area and have repeatedly seen an item at Goodwill or Salt n Light show up at Crossroads for a much higher price, without being cleaned or repaired at all. Interesting merchandise, but this was an unpleasant shopping experience. The signage at the store entrance was a poor first impression -- it was curt and a bit insulting and made me wonder if the owners even wanted customers. While browsing, I got lots of cold stares but no offers of assistance. Even a $50 purchase didn't elicit any friendliness from the employees or owners. Be careful. Don't ask questions from Crossroad Corner Consignment. I inquired about an item they had on their Facebook page.I was interested in making a purchase for the item, but told them that I could not pick it up until Wednesday as I am from out-of-state and traveling into town on Wednesday. I was told I would have to call tomorrow, but they wouldn't hold anything for more than two days. I was then blocked from their page. This used to be one of my favorite places and have made many purchases over the years. Never again. read more

I saw a Norwegian chair and ottoman on sale at Habitat resale store for $450 and it sold quickly, it was in excellent condition and teal in color!! Then about 5 to 7 days later same chair is listed at Crossroads, vendor 190 for over $1200.00. When I saw the chair and then the price I was floored, I understand trying to earn a living but the greed is head shaking! I saw both these posts on Facebook but now I am blocked from Crossroads Facebook site! Just thought people might want to watch out for certain vendors sections and I feel sorry for the other vendors that don't try to rip people off!! And yes I did point out that that same chair was listed for $450 at Habitat, hense me being blocked!! read more

I sent a friend to this store to see an item that I knew would have been perfect in her home, and she was rudely hassled about her stroller by one of the sales staff. In the past, they had been kind to my own family when my potty training child asked to use the bathroom, so I was dismayed to hear how rude they could be to another mother. I bought lovely old chairs and other small items without incident some time ago. Then I noticed that they advertise and sell offensive Black Americana, which caused me to stop shopping there. read more

This place is great! The owners are always friendly, professional and go out of their way to help us. A couple of times items were not marked and they dropped whatever they were doing to call the vendor to get us an immediate price. On the consigment side, we moved to California and had several items we wanted to sell rather than risk damage during transport. Crossroads was kind enough to buy all but one item and that was only due to their inventory of china was pretty heavy at that time. The selection is fantastic, the prices are very reasonable. The folks here take a lot of pride in the store and it shows. We only make it back about once a year but always have Crossroads on our must do list. read more

Pretty cool place that features a wide variety of unique items. They offer anything from furniture to small knick knack items. A lot of stuff can be quite pricey, but it's still fun to walk around and look at the collection of random things that they have. The only gripe I have is that sometimes the owners and/or works (not sure which) can be kind of uppity and slightly rude if they decide that you're not the kind of customer who's going to buy anything. Do I understand it? Somewhat. But, that doesn't mean it's okay. Still a neat place all in all. read more

I've shopped here several times and enjoyed supporting a local business. But I won't be going back. They sell racist memorabilia, and I previously assumed that this was an unfortunate outcome of having shop areas that are stocked by various sellers rather than the owners. The main racist memorabilia they sell is gear with the previous UIUC mascot logo, which depicted an indigenous person and has been retired due to it being racist. But also they sold an old shooting game, which depicted various things to shoot -- ducks, targets, etc. but also several depictions of indigenous people wearing headdresses that were "worth" 100 points to shoot (I saw a photo of this posted on their Facebook page and was absolutely appalled at the racism, but it has been taken down). I recently went back into the store hoping they'd changed their policy after taking this photo down, but they hadn't. As I left, I mentioned my discomfort about shopping in a business that perpetuates this kind of racist imagery. The owner took offense and ended up aggressively CHASING me out of the store and trying to threaten me (e.g., emphasizing that he has me on camera). I was and still am shocked by this behavior. I won't be back, and maybe you shouldn't shop there either. read more

The shop owner is one of the rudest business people you will ever meet. I have heard him snickering behind me as I leave the shop. I have heard him make fun of other people. I've continued to shop there (until today) because of the other dealers that have booths there. Today the final straw was when he was checking me out and wouldn't accept my check with my Illinois tax number. He claimed that my checks had to match my registered business name. Never in my 15 years of using my tax ID has anyone said this to me. I paid with cash and left. Then I called the Illinois Department of Revenue and after 25 minutes of holding, finally spoke with the department. Guess what? There is no law or requirement that you have to have checks that match your business name. That is entirely up to the business owner. This business owner makes his own rules and lies and says rude things. There are other shops in the area to go to. I suggest trying one of them. None of the other shop owners in this town have ever been rude like they are at Crossroads. Skip it! read more

The owner of this shop is a rude, obnoxious liar who should not be trusted. I had one business dealing with him. I asked the owner about an item in his shop, and he swore to me it was old. He was so adamant about the item being old and genuine that I bought the item, which turned out to be a reproduction. I brought the item back for a refund, and the owner told me it was my fault for buying the item and that I should have known better and then refused to give me a refund. When I complained, he threatened to call the police on me and kicked me out of his shop. Stay away from this place. Buyer beware. read more

Knowing how successful this shop is, I wonder how over-the-top successful it could be if the owner had any interest is developing his skills and his manner! William, the owner, was extremely rude, insulting, and downright immature. I purchased an item over the phone and was never told that I had to be present to sign the credit card slip n order for the item to be picked up by a family member. Had I known this, I wouldn't have made the purchase in the first place. After 5 minutes of him making threatening accusations, I was the one who had to offer a solution. I asked for a few more days to make it over there (I live 50 miles away), he offered to hold the item in their employee BATHROOM. The item I purchased was a desk chair for my 6yo daughters bedroom and he offered to hold it in their bathroom, instead of their 5,000sq warehouse. Totally disgusting, unnecessary, and petty to take it to that level. I gave them 1 star as the person who initially accepted my order was pleasant, but apparently completely unaware of William's strict policies. read more

I have been shopping at Crossroads for the past five years and there is no store I prefer shopping in more than this one. Each week is an adventure. What treasure will I find for my studio, home or office. I have found amazing costume jewelry, antique and contemporary furniture and even great clothing! The staff is always cheerful and willing to help. But the best thing about the shop is that whenever I go there, I always fined something amazing whether an inexpensive ornament or a pricier objet d'art. Am so happy this shop exists and is located in C-U!!! Kudos to the owner and all the vendors!!! read more

A salesperson was very rude to me when I walked in with my baby in a small stroller. He said to me "be careful with your stroller." When I replied "I think I know what I am doing- thanks" he pointed to sign and and added "We have a sign. You need to be VERY careful with your stroller. People with strollers have broken things." He says all of this in a really loud voice probably 15 feet away and so everyone in the store was staring. So, I turned around and said "we dont really feel welcome and I think we should leave." He said "fine- go ahead." It was really awful. We have been to many stores with a stroller and have never been treated this way. We won't be back. read more

Wonderful items in both of these stores ,however the salesmen today in both locations were extremely unfriendly (Thursday March 15, 2018) The younger sales man was actually rude..... I had brought a friend with me from out of town and was not proud of how we were treated......truly felt as though a sale did not matter one way or another. We were the only customers! I have enjoyed good customer service before but today was a miserable experience! If you are consigning , I would recommend checking out other consignment stores in Champaign that are unfailingly customer friendly! read more
