When I expressed my concern they told me it was because of....... (wait for it)........Covid. This "Covid" excuse occurred today, (July 6th 2022) for calls/texts not returned and lessons that were canceled within the last couple of months. The owner also humiliated me and told me to leave when I told him his "Covid" excuse" was dubious. I'm much older than the average age. "athlete" there. He said he'd give me my money back. I can only pray. With his way of thinking this is doubtful. They most likely will keep much more money than they should. Stay away unless your willing to go along with every arrogant extra charge and lack of follow through they dish out. If you attempt to hold them responsible for what they promise and what you pay for, they will be difficult. Especially if you are an older out of shape women like me. XFit is supposed to be nice and good and sweet and accepting. This place just wants your money, or in my case just wants my money and doesn't want to follow through with what I pay for. Or will actually kick me out when I try to hold them accountable. They want your money and don't want to give you what you pay for and then they want to blame you for trying to get what you pay for. And still still, it's all because of .... COVID.

Pros: CLEAN, great Coaching, easy to find, wide variety of equipment, not over priced, I saw a dog!!!!!!! Cons: I got sweat in my eyes because I forgot my hat.... I dunno that's about it. I LOVED IT. The owners, Fallon and Lex are the nicest and most awesome business owners {AND coaches} that I think any athlete could ever ask for. The gym is kept very clean (I have visited many boxes, and know that cleanliness can definitely be an issue), but not here. Also, the coaches go above and beyond to make sure that you feel at home - there's never really that awkward moment when people don't know who others are, so its intimidating. CFVU makes sure to make everyone feel welcome, no matter their level of fitness or familiarity with CrossFit. They also make sure that they check up on you if they haven't seen you in a while - they personally take time out of their day(s) to follow up with you and make sure everything is okay. You can't beat that. They also offer a sweet Yelp deal for checking in, and they offer military and first responder discounted monthly rates as well! The only CON I have about this box is the open gym times - since they are very closely knit with the owners and coaches, they cannot run open gym as often as I'm sure they would like (as well as you as a potential athlete here, would like). However, that is something I came to live with here, and I'm sure if they decide to add more staff and coaches later on, that the open gym times may increase. Not really make or break, at least not for me! I LOVE this gym, and I was super bummed to leave, but I had to move out of state. An amazing box, and super beginner friendly :)

I haven't had a chance to become a CrossFit disciple yet, so I figured I'd leave a review. Please, ladies, do not feel intimidated to try this gym. From the moment I walked through the door, the gym owners were asking me about my expectations, goals, and comfort level. Not only did I leave this gym stronger--like, I actually could feel my hamstrings and glutes firing after one adjustment from my coach--I felt genuinely heard. I spoke to several of the women in passing, and each one gave me a friendly smile. Also, I was amazed to see that all four kiddos--all safely strapped into strollers and watching from the lobby--stayed content through the workout. I am not a mom, but I was impressed! Also, I hope that the sweet boy I met today is not the one being bullied by a grown woman on Yelp. He was very respectful while his mom was speaking to me, obedient when she asked him to wait a moment before unbuckling him from his stroller, and answered all my questions about his favorite dinosaurs articulately. I am excited and hopeful about calling this my home gym!

When following up I was "referred to legal" despite the owner telling me it was no problem prior. How can I give a 30 days notice if classes changed in that time? Would not recommend to those tight on their budgets.

I was nervous when I first began here as I'd never focused on strength or skill work before, but they welcome people of all fitness levels. The instructors are amazing at scaling so you still see progress, but are staying safe. I'm four months in and already the strongest I've ever been in my life! 10/10 would recommend!

On August 25, 2025, I signed a 1-month membership contract with Pensacola Athletic Center (HS #14997) and paid $107.49 by credit card. The signed contract includes the cancellation rights under Florida Statute § 501.017 (the Health Studio Act). On August 27, 2025, within the 3 business day cancellation period, I delivered a written cancellation notice (which I sent via email and certified mail). Despite this, the gym failed to acknowledge or act on my cancellation. They did not confirm cancellation, did not refund or void charges, and subsequently adjusted my account to show a "past due" balance of $157--an amount higher than the original contract price. This is now somehow a past due balance of $166.50 and the only communication I get is that they are going to send this to collections. The gym has never provided a legitimate explanation, has not responded to my certified correspondence, and continues to assert I owe fees. This conduct violates Florida's Health Studio Act, including the statutory requirement to refund amounts when cancellation is timely. I have since requested that FDACS investigate this matter, require the gym to confirm cancellation in writing, correct its records, and refund any improper charges. Avoid at all costs, there is also no way to delete your information from the app (and the app is absolutely worthless).

It takes time to make friends in new places and I knew the first few months would be hard. But, I quickly found friendly faces at Pensacola Athletic Center. The staff remembered my name after my first visit, always make a point to say hello/goodbye and make conversation in passing. Little did they know, this carried me through some of my more lonely months. In addition to staff, I quickly made friends with a lot of fellow athletes and gym goers & after a month of attending regularly, being consistent was never easier. I looked forward to hard workouts and pushing myself as that is the culture here. I've never quite felt like I had a gym home like this one. We're moving again in a couple of months and this has become the hardest place to say goodbye to. I even broke my elbow a few months ago and I continued to show up on all of my regular days just to do what I could. I knew I could rely on my peers to help me load weight onto machines, and I was right, people were quick to offer a hand. Oh - and the gym is really nice. There are 4 racks accompanied with deadlift platforms that are rarely all full, when they are, the wait is never too long. They've renovated it since I've joined and hosted plenty of events. They've slowly rolled new equipment in to replace old equipment. & the gym is never completely packed. There are times it's busier, but never unbearable.
