It's such an amazing workout, and it's fun so you don't even realize you're working so hard! The owner/instructor is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, friendly, and amazing at the art of pole dancing. I like that she breaks down every movement and really forces you to focus on the details..this is important for both technique and safety! The studio is a bit on the small side, with only 5 poles. For classes, you have to reserve a spot and it's first come first serve. If you wanted to plan a group party, you could take turns on the poles. Each pole is both static and spinning and can be easily changed for other workouts. The room is surrounded by mirrors, so you can easily critique yourself and learn. The owner has an amazing selection of music and tons of props to use if you choose! The studio is decorated as a pole studio should be--fun and feminine!! In addition to just learning the art of pole dancing, you can take fun classes like the sensual workshop which teaches you how to be sexy and beautiful while doing floorwork!

I love that it is in an old building downtown, with original architectural features. The cost per class is $10, which isn't so bad. I went with a group and the instructor scaled the class based on the fact that only a couple of our group members had ever done Yoga before. It was a difficult class, but for the most part, it had movements that everyone could do or try to do. It was probably one of the most traditional yoga classes I've ever been to--the instructor really incorporated all of the yoga-specific language, the focus on breathing, and at the end of the class when we all had our eyes closed, she came around and put scented "face pillows" on us and whispered something Yoga-ish! :)

This gym honestly isn't that bad. Yes I have seen gyms that are much prettier, even on other bases…read more But past the rough, no-frills exterior, this gym has everything you need. Plenty of cardio equipment, weights, an aerobics room, and a stationary cycling room with row machines. There's also a kiosk and huge projector for video classes, of which there is a good selection (yoga, dance, etc). Minus one star for the little inconveniences...pull up bars are too high for short people like me, layout isn't the best for cross training (you have to get creative), etc. Minus another star because there are no rubber weights for Olympic lifts, which I know lots of people would use because a lot of the people who go here never leave the weight room. And I know that particular equipment has been requested (supposedly people would hurt themselves? What?). Overall, the staff is nice and you should take advantage of what they have to offer. There is also a track with a pull-up bar next door, tennis courts, a raquetball and basketball court in the fitness center, and a frisbee golf course across the street that the fitness center staff have the gear for.

The studio is private (so you don't have to worry about any peeping Johns!) and the atmosphere is cheery and feminine. I have taken pole and lyra classes here, and both were great core workouts! You can learn anything from beginners to advanced here. There is also a store with some cute accessories for both practicing and performing. You can join here as a member, or pay on a class-by-class basis ($20). I have gone on a per-visit basis and find it a great, low-impact but still intense workout to supplement my daily workout routine. I would recommend this for both regular fitness, or an occasional way to spice up your workout routine...and also as a potential spot for a girls get together!
