It's easy to find because it's right off the main road but it's back enough that you don't have to worry about your kids running out to the street. There is a variety of options for every age group. They have an exceptional play structure that caters to both middle age children and younger kids. The water park area is awesome because they have a variety of different types of spray but none of them spout so fully that you can't run in and grab your child from a almost anywhere in the fountain without getting wet yourself. They have a nice covered picnic area and Fields for ballgames. The only problem that I had in the whole park was when my one-year-old climbed on the play structure and my two-year-old ran over to the high slides it was difficult for me to chase both. Definitely a great park to check out with your family if you're in West Linn.

There is a playground for little kids and a separate one for the bigger kids. Decent shade over the play structures but not fully shaded in summer so bring sunscreen. There is a large field that was mostly flat when I traversed it. Bathrooms were available and were about as good as you could expect from public restrooms. The major drawback of this place is that most of the property is sloped. Definitely doesn't make for an easy way to explore, but it's not bad if you're in good shape and don't mind going up and down sloped areas. Not the best park in this area, but also not the worst. I prefer Roy Rogers for me and my family, which is less than five minutes north, but that's just me.

There are two separate, but adjacent, play structures. One for toddlers and another larger area with more challenging and engaging structures for older children. And it was nice to have a restroom right by the toddler area. So many local parks that are in the heart of neighborhoods don't have facilities. A paved path that weaves throughout the space that would be great for bikes or skateboards. It does have some mild hills, so it can be a challenge or a breeze depending on your direction. And probably my favorite part, a large grassy field that is ideal for soccer, touch football or frisbee. Kudos to the park designers on this one. The only downside I observed is minimal parking.

When people think of West Linn, I suspect they imagine it is all McMansions and strip malls. But my…read morecity is actually a diverse set of neighborhoods with distinct personalities filled with parks and crisscrossed by rivers. Some sections are historic, others examples of modern luxury (gated communities and all), but there are many neighborhoods filled with modest homes. Sunset Park is nestled in that part of town. And while newer parks like Tanner Creek have installed the latest equipment and amenities and have manicured lawns, Sunset Park is just your average community park in a natural setting. This 5-acre park is filled with old growth trees so there is plenty of shade and grassy areas to bring your dog for a game of catch. The play structure is small, partially shaded, and geared toward children six and under. They've also kept some of the old fashioned slides and swings which for some reason always make me a little nervous. There is a small water feature with jets that spray water up in an arch, but isn't terribly exciting for children. There is one tennis court, but it is alongside two basketball hoops, so I'm sure there is plenty of "oops, sorry" when both are in use. All the basics are covered, but no bells or whistles.

Cons: a lot of owners will bring their dogs there (including me), but some will not pick up their dog droppings. Ew. That's just wrong, people! Clean up after your dogs!

We did forget our cooler but other people were well prepared and we're quick to provide us with anything we asked for out of basic necessity like one single bottle of water. we were going out on a standard little inflatable boat, nothing fancy and we were out on the water for maybe an hour, but we did give up and go in because the jet skis are an issue. Everyone has a jet ski, there's so many jet skis! As we were packing up, the sheriff showed up and was starting to crack down on them, looking at lifejackets and parking permits, and some of them were starting to leave thank goodness, but we had already had our fill of their noise. Several of the jet skis were coming extremely close to our boat, which of course we don't have the reactivity that they do since we were motorless, and it felt incredibly uncomfortable overall. The view was gorgeous for three dollars. It was a fun experience and I definitely would come back and enjoy looking at other parts of the park. If you come prepared in the morning and set up a clear space for you and your loved ones this could be a fun all day experience, but don't be afraid to stand your ground against the jet skiers as They need to follow the rules and respect everyone's boundaries and safety. There was plenty of parking and there's a vault toilet on site by the bar so that was convenient too.
