McLoughlin Promenade is a paved walkway that was constructed in 1937. The walk starts at the Oregon City Municipal Elevator and ends at the metal walkway (approximately 0.6 miles away from the elevator). If you continue and follow the metal walkway (somewhat rusty pedestrian bridge), then it will take you to the Willamette River Viewpoint (where you will get to see the Willamette Falls - one of the largest waterfalls in North America by volume). In addition, the Museum of the Oregon Territory ($5 admission; close on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday) is located just across from the Willamette River Viewpoint. A pretty neat local tourist destination (you get this sense of the classic industrial America back in the early 1900's), but other than that I don't think the walk will take more than 60 minutes (unless you also want to check out the museum & taking the stairs instead of the elevators). It's popular and I've found that it tends to feel crowded because of the way it's laid out-- people get bunched up at a couple of pinch-points. Also, there's almost always older kids here who aren't very respectful of younger kids and they bump into and scare my child who is just getting comfortable. As such, we usually head to the nearby play structures at the elementary school. Less popular, more space. There's almost always old folks playing pickle ball here-- they have a popular league.

Everyone has a jet ski, there's so many jet skis! As we were packing up, the sheriff showed up and was starting to crack down on them, looking at lifejackets and parking permits, and some of them were starting to leave thank goodness, but we had already had our fill of their noise. Several of the jet skis were coming extremely close to our boat, which of course we don't have the reactivity that they do since we were motorless, and it felt incredibly uncomfortable overall. The view was gorgeous for three dollars. It was a fun experience and I definitely would come back and enjoy looking at other parts of the park. If you come prepared in the morning and set up a clear space for you and your loved ones this could be a fun all day experience, but don't be afraid to stand your ground against the jet skiers as They need to follow the rules and respect everyone's boundaries and safety. There was plenty of parking and there's a vault toilet on site by the bar so that was convenient too.

It's easy to find because it's right off the main road but it's back enough that you don't have to worry about your kids running out to the street. There is a variety of options for every age group. They have an exceptional play structure that caters to both middle age children and younger kids. The water park area is awesome because they have a variety of different types of spray but none of them spout so fully that you can't run in and grab your child from a almost anywhere in the fountain without getting wet yourself. They have a nice covered picnic area and Fields for ballgames. The only problem that I had in the whole park was when my one-year-old climbed on the play structure and my two-year-old ran over to the high slides it was difficult for me to chase both. Definitely a great park to check out with your family if you're in West Linn.
