First Class!…read more A little gem of a place tucked away in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds! The Wolds Inn is some of the best dining you will find for miles around. Situated in the village of Huggate, approximately 30 minutes from York, it is true to say it is in the back of beyond, but anyone venturing this far will not be disappointed! The food here is excellent, absolutely first class! On our first visit I opted for the Wolds Topper (mixed grill) and my partner went for the Roast Pork. The mixed grill was the finest I have ever seen or tasted (and I've eaten plenty of mixed grills) with succulent steak, lamb, pork, gammon, sausage black pudding and fantastic home cut chips. But this was nothing compared to the Roast Pork which was, honestly large enough to feed a family! The joint was a similar size to what we would buy from Tesco for a family Sunday roast (in fact we took the leftovers home and it did sanwiches for us the next day)! It was beautiful to taste and covered with delicious pork crackling! The puddings are also to die for! Eton Mess was fabulous! The prices are little higher than other places in the area but it is more than worth it. There are also a good selection of ales and wines available too. Accommodation is available should you wish to make a night of it.

we went some time ago, the weather was really nice and it's a very scenic drive out…read more we choose this as it was recommended as exellent food always! we ordered steak pie lunch and the portions where very healthy! and the pastry just melted in the mouth! not over thick and the meat and gravy in the pie was excellent! and i make really good gravy and sad to say, it put mine in the shade! after eating we sat outside, at the back of the pub, though there was no beer garden, there was a patio an a bit of a field, for my son to play in, they had some toys there that was for there grand children, and my son was more then welcome to play on them, as he had been eyeing up the trike! so we sat back and enjoyed a very relaxing drink out in the sun! while son happily played on the trike, broom broommmm!!! though we have not been back since, the good reviews from friends and family keep coming in about the place, its a little out of the way (please bear in mind, a little out of the way where i am, means about a ten minute drive from pock) but people often travel out to go for a meal, so that speaks for itself!

If you are looking for a traditional country Pub, ran as they used to be alongside the farm, well…read morethis must be one of the last few remaining ones. If you can imagine walking into a friend's house and there in the corner is the bar just knocked together with a few bits of wood and a couple of tables and stools to sit at, well this is what's here. What you see is what you get not a great selection of beers but the Theakstons went down a treat (well actually several did). We sat in the garden overlooking the countryside unspoiled by any sounds other than that of the birds and sheep in the fields opposite. If you are after Juke Boxes, slot machines and the other trappings of modern pubs give this a miss, if you are after visiting the Scarborough area try and find this one you shouldn't be disappointed after all they way the pub trade is going at the moment it may not be here for many more years. I will probably get bought and turned into someone's home, shame if it ever does. The pub doesn't do food (only a few sandwiches) just a traditional pub.

The Mill Inn is situated in the middle of the British countryside…read more You could easily drive past it and not notice it were there. Walking into the mill inn is like walking back in time to the 1970's! When you order a drink the bar man Disappears down stairs to his underground cellar to fetch it. Only open on certain days and I've you go you will be talking about it for day's after. Love it
