Supposedly this happens every year, yet the earliest email they sent about this closure was ONLY 3 DAYS PRIOR TO THE CLOSURE. They offered no immeditae compensation or solution for consumers, unless they went out of your way to call them. They directly lied on the phone saying email notification was given much earlier than 3 days prior, yet refused to provide a date or further information on these supposed notifications... they offered 20% bonus days as compensation for taking away 66% of the services.... They falsely claim that they have no obligation to provide 100% services due to their terms of service, that is not true... this bait and switch is fraud and not permitted in Canada. There's something for everyone and it's also super affordable. Small, but decent fitness center that has everything you need. Great and frequent fitness classes. Awesome swimming pool with hot tub, steam room, kids pool, etc. And an ice skating rink and hockey area. There's also a playground nearby. And squash courts. There's so much to do and everything is so clean and in good shape. And the staff are really nice as well.

I was caught off guard because I was polite and just looking for help. I understand people have bad days, but the interaction was upsetting enough that I ended up in tears after we hung up. That said, the actual bobsledding experience itself was amazing. It was such a fun, unique activity and something I'd definitely recommend trying. This concerned me greatly as I had wrongly assumed, with this being on offer to the public, that there would be considerably more safety protocols in place. Concerned and unwilling to risk it for a 1 minute thrill ride, I decided to cancel within less than 24 hours after booking - well within their at least 24 hours before event date cancellation policy for a full refund. (I had scheduled for June 2026). However, I could find no way to cancel using the ticket information/profile. Despite reaching out to them multiple times via email since February regarding the cancellation, to date I have received no response and they have not cancelled as requested. Forced to do a chargeback against them. Disappointing.

Today was the worst food I have ever been served. Had it not been for father's day I would had walked out. We ordered the breakfast sandwich and home fries were offered. The sandwich was an over cooked steamed egg which appeared to be cooked in a mold. The bacon or what ever it was, was a cold cut of some grade. Served on an English muffin which had something white on one side. The hash browns (recognizing we are only 35 minutes from the best potatoes in North American) were actually 2"x4" of Tim Hortons or Mac Donalds fame. The coffee was cold. When asked for a freshen up she brought one cup of black coffee to share for two cups. There was no salt or pepper on the table and we had to ask for utensils. The managers walked around with there Covid Masks either half on or not at all. I understand that this food and entertainment end of things are being run by three gentlemen. I commend them for having the bravery to being there because I would certainly been in hiding in embarrassment.

We rented our snowshoes from the main lodge, which also had cross country ski rentals (apparently 90km of cross country trails, whatever that is in miles), snowboards, tobogganing, and so many more wintery things that are completely separate from my understanding of normal outdoor activities. I mean, where else can you find biathlon lessons? Obviously the surrounding area is gorgeous in winter, a wonderland of quiet white stillness, forests and forests of evergreens, and creek beds lined with powdery snow and ice. There are frequent signs and maps to keep you oriented along the snowshoeing trails, which was great for us noobs. You can do anything from short out-and-back trips to several miles of strenuous trails. One star docked because I thought the snowshoes were pretty pricey for a rental - a flat rate of $16 regardless of the time you spend with them. They definitely did not seem to be in high demand either as there were dozens of pairs behind the register. Maybe instead do an hourly rate instead? This is in addition to a per-person entry fee to the park. Also, some of the cross county skiers were surprisingly rude when we stepped on their track - I get we were in the wrong, but have a little grace and chill out just a bit.

I'm SO thrilled with the latest evolution of my childhood rec center of choice. When I was a kid, we'd go swimming, swinging on the rope and diving from the high dive. When I hit my teens, we'd play soccer on the field outside, hit the gym and attend "social gatherings" at WG. As an adult, I was using practically all the facilities William Griffin had to offer, from hot tubs to punching bags. When I heard they were going to be shutting down for renovations, I was naturally excited about the premise of something "new." When I found out the magnitude of said renovations, I became VERY excited. When I saw some videos about the progress of the NEW Delbrook Rec center online, and as I would drive by it regularly, I became eager and actually kind of impatient to see this masterpiece with my own eyes. (WHEN WILL IT BE READY FOR ME TO USE!?!?) This morning at 8:00 am, I went for a swim for the first time at the Delbrook Rec Center in North Vancouver. It was simply the most beautiful rec center pool I have ever seen, and I don't just mean on the North Shore. Obviously everything is pristine, brand new... the sauna still has that "New Wood Smell". But it's more than that. The one-touch on/off showers, the "Universal" change room, the super high ceilings and the from inside to out, and outside in... the feeling of connectivity and continuity from sauna to swim lanes, aesthetically, it's all just aces... Actually the feeling of connectivity exists not JUST in the pool, but throughout the building. Every room is somehow connected to the next in a way. Maybe it's all the windows that allow transparency from the pool to the lobby to the exterior to the fitness center, etc. etc. So much has been done with such a relatively humbly-sized space. The high ceilings throughout this rec center are really inspiring. And all the little details inside and outside, like the frog riding a bike (which recycles rain-water I think) and the blown glass art in the lobby keep you engaged. Even the walk up the path from the parking lot to the entrance is refreshing, thanks to the smell of blooming lavender! The new Delbrook Rec center has not disappointed me once since opening... and nor does it intend to... I don't think the novelty of this brilliant new community hub is going to wear off any time soon. It's gorgeous, the people who work there are so happy to be there, the people who visit are equally (if not more) happy... the whole vibe is very positive, uplifting, inspiring and just plain exciting. I am actually going to the gym there after work today for the second time since 8 am lol. I feel like a kid again! Thank you to the architects and workers who created this space, thank you to the North Shore Recreation Commission who envisioned something better for the community, and thanks to the community for accepting the new Delbrook Rec Center with open arms. I'll see you all there regularly!

I'm not going to cover the other downsides of Urban Rec since those are covered in other reviews, but fining people for obeying directions from Bonnie Henry at what is, to date, the local peak of the pandemic is beyond the pale. We ended up loosing a few balls in the season and did not receive them back from Urban rec. There is a 200$ fine for teams with less players (If players are Sick/Injured). A bit too much, for a league that is self officiated and do not provide balls!! Its a money making racket. Our team is looking at other leagues options henceforth. Urban rec. should lighten up and realize ppl join their league to just have some fun. Loose the 200$ fines, flagging players so they cant join future leagues, provide balls etc. Let team just take a loss if they dont have enough players game day.
