New Years Eve in an unfamiliar town. Happened to see Shenanigans near our B&B so gave it a try. A…read moregood size, very clean restaurant. A very good menu and many specials as well. We chose the prime rib and twin lobster tails and decided to share each. It came with a side and the salad bar. The salad bar was fresh and delicious with many choices. The prime rib was massive and delicious. The lobster was cooked properly and good but lacked the slightly sweet flavor I really love. Our server Gavin was very friendly and did a great job. Next time on the area we will definitely stop!

I recently attended a birthday gathering here and was my first time trying it since opening. There was about 14 of us and the most telling thing I can say is not a single person finished their meal. The server was great and did a good job on drinks as many people as we had The $35 prime was bland and way overpriced. The mixed vegetables were room temp at best and a serving was around half a cup of iI'm generous. The steak was dry in a way I have never seen as was the salmon that didn't have any skin??!! The grilled chicken was dry and would make great kindling. We also tried the pretzels which were actually dinner rolls lol! The baked potato came without butter and sour cream had to be requested. No one tried the dessert but it looked good! That's about the best I can say. I applaud the idea of a small, fresh menu but the execution was poor. I expected the pizza to be served out of the old bar but it's actually in a cubby inside the main restaurant We may try the pizza sometime but we don't really expect to try the restaurant again.

So, to put the Country Kitchen up against the restaurants I usually review in Rochester, Buffalo and along my travels, I'd probably likewise rate it pretty low. So with that being said, I am going to approach this in one of the following 3 contexts: 1.) I'm local to the area and my options around me around limited. 2.) I either spent the day or am about to enter Letchworth State Park or Silver Lake and need a hearty meal or 3.) I chose to venture out of a Day trip from the city. I cannot say I know what the competition is like. I know of a few good restaurants in Mount Morris, Avon, Geneseo, etc. I'll just say that we were in town for the Chalk Art festival and in hindsight, we should've gone with the Poutine food truck. Let's get to the experience... 5 of us went inside to dine, leaving the festival scene outside. The place is a large family style restaurant that is showing its age. It can definitely use a modern makeover. The dingy drop ceilings held up by gold framing would've been a wow factor... in 1985. The specials were on two white boards hanging on the far wall in small handwriting. Especially awkward was that they were hanging directly over occupied tables! So I walked up to the table, excused myself and said "Sorry, I'm reading the specials on the board above you." They looked understandably annoyed. The main menu is typical diner food, but something about how it looked like it was printed on Print Shop Pro, also from 1985, made it really hard on the eyes to figure it all out. We ordered an appetizer sampler platter and taco logs, both of which were a hit for the family. The entrees were good sized and tasted good, but the portions on the sides were small. It was OK for us because we gorged ourselves on appetizers. My wife did not eat any appetizers and felt shortchanged on her fries (which we paid extra for because they were not included in her meal. Overall, the food was GOOD, albeit plain. The service was good, no complaints there. The restrooms were scary. Like, I'd should've used the festival pot-a-potty outside scary. Restrooms need a total gut job. So if this was Greece, I'd give it 1 or 2 stars. Taking everything into context, especially location and competition and the fact that it was not entirely a horrible experience, I'll be generous and give it a 3. Probably not someplace we'd come back to until we've tried the competition first.
