For the most part the Redmond Police I feel do a good job. We do not have enough patrols in the…read moreareas of south heights. We get people doing over 40 mph in our 25 mph zone during the morning and evening commutes. Repeatedly asked for police coverage. Yet told we are not alone and they do not have time for it. The High school aged drivers from Ridgeview are as bad as the commuters as well. It seems as though they need something serious to happen before they will care enough to put a stop to it. So I rate them very poor for not protecting and not serving our community.

We could see that they were putting the guy through a sobriety test. Never once did they come to us to say it was going to be awhile before we could get to the parking lot and our room. We waited for over 20 minutes. My wife finally got out and walked to the room. I waited in the car until they cuffed the guy and put him in the police car. After they put him in the car they continued to chat and I finally had to tap my horn. Even then there was nothing from them to say they apologized for the delay and thanks for your patience. My dad was a Police Chief for over 25 years. I know the demands of the job and what to expect from good policing. This was not a job well done.

Yesterday it was a different car, swerving right next to me twice because the driver was in some huge rush to grab a DoorDash order. And it's not just once in a while--this stuff happens constantly. People here run into you while you have the walk signal. They turn right into crosswalks without even looking. Half of them are on their phones, zoned out, or acting like basic traffic rules don't apply to them. And somehow every single one of these people has a driver's license. It's insane. It's dangerous. And it's exhausting trying to walk anywhere without almost getting hit ten times a day. You'd think the police would crack down on it, but they don't. This state has some of the worst enforcement and some of the least aware drivers I've ever seen. It feels like nobody is actually paying attention, and pedestrians are the ones stuck dealing with the consequences.

After the GPS target started moving, a small car chase ensued all the way out to the highway, and the Sargent pulled over three (!) cars. The phone was retrieved, justice was served, and our family has quite the story to take home with us. Thanks Sargent Joe, you rock!!
