This definitely a location for a family visit. As you drop down to the park level you can see the park spread out below you.
We took the train to it's furthest point, looking down on the lake with it's flock of flamingos and busy ducks. Here also is the African area and the south American padddock with examples of animals indiginous to each of these areas.
A short walk took us to the incubation area where dedicated people nurture the young animals. Then we took a gentle walk around the end of the lake up to the house - used as the background for the series to The Manor Born.
Sitting on the edge of lawn you can see along the lake to the end and more animal enclosures. At the end of the lake there is a wonderful play area for the younger children, including a nearly full-sized fort. We sat there for a while soaking up the atmosphere, and then glancing up, saw a red kite circling effortlessly above a tall oak on the top of a high rise.perfect!
We know we left without seeing everything in depth as we ran out of time, but have already planned our next visit.
Your day can flip from Europe to Africa to south America, and weather permitting you will have the most marvellous day.
