We came into LA overnight for a concert and booked this hotel while we were driving in. The…read morelocation was very easy to find since it's right on the corner. There's a McDonald's right next door and a gas station/convenience store directly across the street, so once you park, you really don't have to drive around if you need a quick drink or something to eat.
Parking is available for hotel guests, with one vehicle allowed per guest/stay. However, the parking area is VERY tight, especially if you have a larger vehicle. Once I parked, I decided I wasn't moving my car again because I could already tell maneuvering in and out would be difficult, especially later at night when more guests were parked.
The hotel itself is set up with parking on the lower level, and the lobby/check-in area is on the second floor. The third and fourth floors are where the guest rooms are located. There are stairs and elevators, although I personally used the stairs and didn't end up locating the elevators.
The lobby was really nice. It looked like it had recently been remodeled, and everything felt fresh, clean, and airy. They also have restrooms in the lobby that require a guest key/card to access. I actually thought that was a nice feature because it prevents just anyone coming in off the street from using the hotel restrooms, which probably helps keep them cleaner.
We stayed on the third floor. Our room was clean, modern, comfortable, and clearly well maintained. It looked like the rooms had been updated and remodeled, and everything felt fresh. One thing I especially loved was how COLD the room was! It was around 60 degrees, which was perfect for us after being out all night.
However, there was one very unusual situation during our stay that honestly left me puzzled.
We went out for the concert and came back later that night. My older daughter had stayed in the room and was already asleep. She had locked the deadbolt and also engaged the additional security latch on the door.
When I tried to use my room key to get back inside, the key kept blinking red. I initially thought my key card had been deactivated, so I went downstairs to the front desk to have it reactivated. I ended up going back down three times. Eventually, I had the front-desk employee come upstairs with me.
I explained that my daughter was asleep inside and that the deadbolt was locked. The employee told me there was no way for her to get into the room.
That really surprised me.
I asked if there was no way to override the deadbolt or use some type of master access in an emergency. I was thinking about situations such as a guest having a medical emergency, someone being unconscious or seriously ill inside the room, or an emergency such as a fire or another situation where hotel staff may need immediate access to a room.
Obviously, I understand why guests have additional locks and security features on their doors. That's important for privacy and safety. But I was surprised to learn that, according to the employee, there wasn't a way for staff to override the lock.
We ended up standing outside the room for about an hour and a half, calling the room phone, calling my daughter's cell phone, pinging her phone, and knocking on the door. This went on until around 2 AM, when she finally woke up and unlocked the door.
That was definitely the strangest part of our stay and something I would want clarified because it raised questions for me about how emergency access is handled.
Other than that situation, we had a really nice stay. The room was comfortable, clean, modern, and well maintained, and the location was convenient for what we were doing.
The hotel is also only about a mile to a mile and a half from SoFi Stadium, which made it a convenient option for the concert. Of course, LA traffic is LA traffic so the drive to the stadium still took around 10-15 minutes, and getting back afterward took about the same.
Overall, aside from the issue with the locked room and the questions it raised about emergency access, I would definitely consider staying here again if I'm back in the area for another concert or event.
