Scheduled an initial intake at the Lakeville location and things went smoothly. Met with Dr. Molldrem and he was keen on everyone getting 'paid what they were owed' in the context of my insurance lowballing him. Mind you, the staff drive luxury SUVs and they have TWO locations. Several MONTHS later I have my teeth cleaning and not only could they not accommodate my allergies, they never had the intent to. Furthermore, they refused to coordinate care between me and my Medical Doctor to figure out appropriate treatment based on my Dr.'s medical orders. I asked politely to receive updates within the week regarding sussing out my treatment plan and they told me to get lost. I asked for recommendations on who else to go to if they couldn't get the job done and they told me to check with my insurance (HAH!). So here I am without any of the treatments they had agreed to help me work through. I called to file a complaint and the Eden Prairie location told me that this all had 'nothing to do with their professionalism' and that 'if I was unhappy with my care I could always find someone else'. I would say that treating me like a burden because I'm not filthy rich is a professionalism issue but whatever. Don't go here unless you love feeling awful.

I sought out a second opinion and most of what I was told at Knollwood Dentistry was incorrect. So, feeling somewhat traumatized, imagine my amazed surprise/shock when the owner of the clinic, Dr Mitchell Wilkinson, contacted me to discuss and reconcile the situation! Considering said situation to be untenable and my position to be cauterized I resisted. With gentle persistence, his appeals to assist broke through my resolve and I relented and made an appointment with him. The night prior I could not sleep and so, wrapped in defensiveness wore a suit and tie to the appointment and with every administrative step insisted that HE had made an appointment with ME and that I was there pro bono. Should a single scrap of paper resembling or labeled "billing" reach me, I would respond with my own billing (I had all of my ridiculously high rates prepared). Cutting through the narrative, Dr. Wilkinson offered to not only replace but improve my broken crown without cost-on the spot, right then and there! Not from any persuasion or oratory artistry on my part... Its difficult to explain the motivation of a truly gifted professional who is compelled by sincere empathy, sympathy, and compassion in our current paradigm of entitlement but I accepted the offer - not for the day, I waited a week (I dislike acting on emotion without a measure of time and reason to smooth the surface, as it were) but a week later found myself again in his office, this time receiving care. His diplomacy is surpassed by his skill, I believe and my experience (yesterday) has me thinking that getting a crown is not so difficult or strenuous a thing. I realize that I have gone from a rating of 1 to a rating of 5 stars and that some may consider this a dis validation of my perspective. If so, fine. Remove both and eliminate my 2 posts with a composite of 3 from the entirety and I will be fine with that. Woodbury Smiles has more than answered my complaints. My insurance wasn't going to pay much, in comes Olivia to save the day and help me with a payment plan to make sure I can afford the work that I needed done. 5 stars! The office closes at 5:00 so I call them yet again only to find out "the scans aren't in the system and I need to come in and start over with new scans". They will call the lab but according to Isabelle the soonest I can get the guard is Jan 10. Two month after this whole thing started. Why didn't they find this out after I called at the end of week three. When were they going to let me know? The dentist called tonight at 6:00 to let me know they couldn't find my scans. I wonder if I had not continued to call would they even know the scans had not been sent to or received by the lab, Who dropped the ball here? Update One.This is priceless. ONE of my concerns is they do not respond or call back. I posted this yesterday and now they post a reply here (on-line instead of calling me) for me to call them (I called yesterday and again today). My experiences with Dentist of Eden Prairie should be a word if caution to others. First I was charged for a cleaning that I did not have. If I had not checked the insurance form that came to me I would not have known. I had to let the insurance company know and ask for correction from Dentists of Eden Prairie. I do not know if the insurance company was reimbursed. Their explanation was a change in software. Months later on a Friday I needed a root canal and the result was terrible. I had had other root canals when I lived in Missouri - fairly easy procedure. Not with DEP. I bruised and a hard knot formed from my eye socket to my jaw. I called three times to their emergency service before I got a call back. It was a weekend was the explanation. The emergency service said the dentist would contact me within 2 hours or I should call the service again. Three call and I finally got a response. I was put on antibiotics for 10 days. It took nearly a month for the knot to completely dissipate. Then, in November I needed a new night guard. I was told it would take two to three weeks. I paid in full the day they did the scan. That was November 10. It is now December 26 and I still don't have the night guard.When I called after three weeks I was told they would call when it was in. I finally called back today and asked for the dentist to call me. Guess what - no call back. Be warned!

At times I have felt that I was not being cared for as I felt I should have been. In retrospect, I realize that I am not always in a good, happy frame of mind. That alters my perception of what is, or did, happen. Also, caregivers have off days when their minds are elsewhere because of family deaths or illnesses, so they aren't in their best happy, kind, and caring frame of mind. I know this well, as I was an R.N. for almost 60 years, served in the Navy Nurse Corps for 35 years, and served in a combat zone during the Vietnam War.

And not only that, she's also very skilled and worked very gently and carefully. Even though I have sensitive teeth, my experience was actually pleasant this time being at the dentist. I could also tell from the information she shared with me that she keeps up with current research and embraces holistic nutrition and also has knowledge about our body's other systems that affect our overall health, including our teeth. I also met with Dr. Schwartz for my exam. I could sense that his number one priority was what is best for the patient, and he treated me as well as a person would treat a family member. The cost of the cleaning and exam was affordable too, especially considering the quality of care.

The reply was " I clean teeth, front desk takes care of that". I told her I already informed front desk, and letting her know, if additional services beside cleaning were needed ( I expected this to be a common knowledge). This was not a typical response i usually receive. Then my mouth was examined and I sensed a great agitation/urgency wave from the hygienist. I was told my gums state declined from last time and we need to do something and develop a plan. I am not sure if my history was reviewed prior to my arrival. I replied, I have been living with my mouth for a long time and cleaning every 3 months. Onto cleaning: I asked for a numbing jel prior to cleaning. I was put flat in a chair, no overhead light. When top gum was covered, I asked to stop/ complete lower gum later and raise my head, as gel leaks into a throat typically in horizontal position. There was no actual wait time between application of gel and measurements by a sharp ( loud measurements with front desk clerk involved in a process recording mm). Then there were pictures taken, at one point I heard: " I don't want to see this". The hygienist stated I need to be seen by a doctor, but the Dr was not in a clinic at the time of my appointment (verified by the same front desk clerk). The cleaning/rinsing with laser like plink started, but not enough water was given, so my mouth was dry. I asked why I was not rinsed periodically, to which reply was the water is already a part of cleaning plick. I was asked to close my mouth periodically with metal cleaning tip very close to my lips. I actually felt my lips brushing against some surface when I close my mouth almost every time. I asked hygienist to keep the metal piece farther. She stopped and stated: Let's see a doctor....but the doctor was not in. I never saw a doctor, even thru Hygienist sounded like it's urgent and my gums were actively bleeding. Instead, front desk clerk appeared and wanted to reschedule my appointment. I reported noticeable agitation from hygienist, felt very unwelcomed as a client, basically disrespected. I wondered, if hygienist wanted to actually clean my mouth, do her job. Hygienist disappeared, no doctor in site, my mouth dry and still having gel in. I stated I will be transitioning my cares away to another service Provider.
