School of Classical Ballet in Verona - Snow Queen 2019

School of Classical Ballet in Verona

(3 reviews)

Do NOT put your kids into this school…read more We know many parents who removed their daughters and sons from this school primarily because of their harsh words, and it's not just "discipline." They leave the students with low self-esteem, defeated, berated and depressed. This school completely destroyed my daughters love for ballet. For years, her "teacher" Ms. Alyssa constantly body-shamed her, starting at the young age of 10, yelling at a mere child constantly leaving her in tears. Instead of supporting her, she psychologically abused a young impressionable child. By her last year, she was being told to "get the f*** out" of the studio, that's how prefers to treat her students. This is not a "he said, she said" matter. This required parental intervention in which the whole class witnessed. Despite same, Ms. Alyssa and the co-owner of the studio published a false and misleading narrative of our daughter that is now the subject of a lawsuit for libel and defamation as it was all caught on video. After being confronted on several occasions and suggesting that our daughter acted improperly, their statements contradicted reality. They couldn't produce any evidence - not any one student sided with Ms. Alyssa - and despite having an "on-site" video surveillance could not produce any such evidence. However, to the contrary, several students recorded the behind the door episode on their cell phone. That should provide a good example of how they manage their studio. As it pertains to our daughter, they tried to paint a narrative that the final confrontation never occurred stating that it "never happened" despite the recorded evidence, eyewitnesses and statements of the other students. Adding to this remains that fact that our daughter had the lead role - one that she diligently worked towards for years. One she literally worked so hard for, and when the programs for the show were printed, her name wasn't even listed. When she calmly asked the director why her name wasn't listed, she thought it was appropriate to scream in my face at the top of her lungs. For what its worth, our daughter is one of only a select group that had made it to the world renowned Master Ballet in Phoenix - however that too upset Ms. Alyssa. The director also refused to pay her for the hours she worked as a dance instructor (which is wage theft and a claim has been filed with the vicinage in Verona). When I (her father) inquired about the wages, Ms. Alyssa said in no uncertain terms to: "Sue me" and refused to pay the wages to our daughter. So hence, the complaint was filed. Unfortunately, the environment is extremely toxic, cruel, and beyond unprofessional. No child deserves to be humiliated like that. If you care about your kid's mental health and self-esteem, do not send them there.

Absolutely the worst school possible. I wouldn't even give them a star but the system requires at…read moreleast 1. The owners are liars. Ms. Alyssa, the school's owner and choreographer is dishonest, hosts "favorites" and focuses upon billing in exchange for parts and attention. Ms. Alyssa and her assistance Olga regularly body shamed our daughter and berated her in front of her other classmates. Ms. Alyssa regularly and intentionally lied about certain parts and was devious to the point of lying to our daughter's face and further did not include her in the program the day of print - but she still expected full payment regardless for the classes and costumes. Ms. Alyssa also with-held all of the money she owed to our daughter for teaching. Despite this, our daughter was admitted to one of the top dance academies despite VBS. NOTE: VBS's reputation is literally the worst in the state of NJ and throughout the country. If you are going to invest into your child, bring them to a better school. PS - the school has also been sued by the parents of a former student for psychological abuse.

I mostly go to the Wellmont for concerts, but it's a good venue for stand-up also. My husband and I were seated in upper balcony. The audio is usually always good there, so no matter where you sit you catch everything. Photography and videotaping were prohibited for this specific show. There were signs posted on every door to the theater, so it was clear. Ban on these aren't always the case, but - if you are familiar with Bobby Lee, then you probably can imagine why. If you were at this Bobby Lee show - then you for sure know why! Haha As always and as I wrote in my past review of the Wellmont Theater: Everybody working the house - from security to ushers to concessions - are always friendly and great to people. That makes a difference for everyone. That's one aspect of Wellmont that makes seeing an act there special. It's a Live Nation venue, but it still feels like a local spot (in my opinion).

I have never seen such a lack of organization, communication, and basic crowd control at an event geared toward children, teens, and young adults. My daughter and her friends had the highest-tier VIP package, with doors scheduled to open at 4:30 p.m. We arrived at 8 a.m. specifically to secure our place at the barricade. Fans had actually taken the initiative to organize the line themselves, recording names, VIP packages, and numbers to help maintain order. Everything was manageable until security got involved. Around the scheduled entry time, a security guard came outside and simply announced that anyone with VIP should come over to him. There was no designated line, no organized process, and no plan for moving people safely. Naturally, people rushed toward him, and guests who had arrived only an hour or two earlier ended up ahead of people who had been waiting since early that morning. Security then started yelling at everyone to form a single-file line, leaving the crowd to sort out the confusion they had just created. Things got even worse inside. VIP guests were initially told to go back outside if they weren't purchasing merchandise, despite VIP entry already being underway. Hundreds of people were then crowded into the vestibule, with people gathered directly in front of three sets of double doors leading into the auditorium. There was no apparent effort to organize the crowd or create a safe, clear path for entry. When it was finally time to enter the auditorium, security opened only the doors on the far left. People standing near the middle and right doors were told to go back, while others were already being allowed through the left entrance. This caused people to push toward one set of doors in an attempt to get inside. There was no orderly entry process, and the original line was completely lost. People who had waited for hours were scattered throughout the crowd, and children were crying while parents were understandably upset. Thankfully, one concertgoer had taken the initiative to assign numbers to people waiting in line that morning. A parent eventually brought this to the production team's attention, and someone from the team made an announcement asking people with those numbers to line up so they could restore some order and get the early arrivals to the barricade. It took another parent and the production team to fix a problem that venue security should have prevented in the first place. What made the experience even worse was the attitude of the security staff. When I voiced concerns about the lack of organization, one guard became defensive and insisted that security was simply following instructions from the artist's team. He also told me not to put the blame on security or post about it on social media. Another guard then threatened to have my entire party removed if I said one more thing. This was an entirely inappropriate response to a parent raising legitimate concerns about crowd safety and event management. I have attended other Freya Skye concerts, and we know people who attended the previous night's show in Connecticut. Those events had organized entry procedures, separate lines for different admission types, and numbered queue systems. The chaos at the Wellmont was not an inevitable part of a popular concert. It was a failure to manage the crowd properly. And before anyone responds with the argument that everyone eventually got inside, that completely misses the point. We arrived at 8 a.m. because barricade placement matters to these young fans. If getting inside and standing wherever there was room had been the goal, we would not have needed to arrive that early. The entire point of arriving early was to secure a place at the front, and security's handling of the crowd disregarded that completely. My biggest concern is safety. This was a crowd of children, teenagers, and young adults, many of whom were excited and eager to get to the stage. Having hundreds of people crowded against doors, then directing them toward a single entrance without an orderly process, created an entirely foreseeable risk of pushing, falls, and injuries. It should not take an actual injury for a venue to recognize how dangerous that situation could become. The Wellmont Theater needs to seriously reevaluate its security team, staff training, communication, and crowd-management procedures for youth-oriented concerts. Security should be there to maintain order, protect attendees, and de-escalate situations, not create confusion, yell at people, become defensive when questioned, or threaten to remove families for speaking up. This experience was unacceptable, and I hope the venue takes these concerns seriously before another event puts its young attendees at risk.

As a long time recreational tap dancer, I was originally drawn to BPA to experience another teacher's tap style, but soon after working with Mark, he discovered what I really needed to grow - other dance styles and full body movement. Thanks to Mark, I am learning how to work with my body, which has significantly enhanced the performance quality of my tap routines. It is my pleasure to recommend Broadway Performing Arts!

When my daughter wanted to start tap lessons, she was a little older than most kids and she didn't want to be in a beginner class with all 6 year olds.  BPA had a beginner adult/teen class that was perfect.  She learned so much with Mark in one year she skipped a level the next year. My daughter loved it here so much she would get up early on Saturdays to help out as an assistant in a dance class for the little kids before her own ballet class. Elisa and Mark are professionals from Broadway, TV and film so they are very talented and are excellent teachers but also have a warm and fun environment.   My daughter is in college now training to be an actor and I know Elisa and Mark's teaching and encouragement helped her make it to college

The program's theme was nonverbal, mysterious, sad and sexually suggestive. A portion of the program was executed in a Cirque du Soleil style. The show was even more great for $20.00.
