This is a real drinkers, real locals pub oozing with atmosphere and charm. They keep an extremely…read moregood cellar here and have been added into the 2010 CAMRA good pub guide for it. They have many guest beers to try as well as the faithfuls like Harveys. They host an annual beer festival in honor of St George which is coming up in late April. There's plenty of old fashioned pub games like shove the penny, cribbage and dominos. Do be ware though! Morris dancers frequent this establishment on a regular basis!

We intended on doing a Worthing pub crawl but didn't think we could better the relaxed atmosphere in here or the Summer Lightening so we stayed all night. This place deserves it's spot in The good Beer guide with four well kept ales spanning the colour spectrum from golden to mild, and the inclusion of everything that is traditional about the British pub. The bar staff were efficient and friendly, it was quite busy mid afternoon but I was still served quickly. This is a small place with no food and no frills but with loyal punters, many of whome spoke to us and said how much they loved the place! I wish I lived nearby as there is an exciting callender of events including choirs and morris dancing. And it's well within walking distance of the station and dogs are allowed.

We started with the crispy squid with a very unique dipping aioli. I had the lobster roll special, my mom had the slip sole in a mussel sauce (also on special) and my aunt the dressed crab. Portions were good sized, everything was excellent! Will add to my rotations of restaurants!

The restaurant is located right on the beach and the exterior is really rather lovely and inviting. When we went inside we were greeted by very friendly staff and were invited to sit at a nice table by the open kitchen. The menu is very small and could do with a few extra choices on it, especially seeing as they had run out of two of the main dishes by the time that we arrived at 2pm. Left with not a lot of choice, we decided to go for 2 sharing platters between four of us. Sadly, the food took really quite a lot of time to get to us. When it did arrive, however, the food was extremely decent and there was a lot of it. It is probably a good job that the food is decent as sadly there are a few points that let it down. There is only one toilet in the whole restaurant which is really rather shocking and particularly bad for me as an IBS sufferer. This alone is almost enough for me to not want to come back. In addition to this, the fact that they ran out of food extremely quickly (2 items gone when we arrived, the main dessert gone by the time that we finished our meal, and ALL food gone by the time that we left!). All in all, I am unsure if I would go back or not. I have to say that I did very much enjoy the food, but there might be a few too many downsides for me to look past to try the food again.
