We have been seeing Dr. Emily Danon for over a year with our daughter who has severe ADHD and ODD…read more Emily has been pivotal in reaching us how to effectively parent and support our child, as well as help improve her self-confidence, life skills and coping with her disorders in a very positive, professional way. She has always gone out of her way to support us and our daughter, including facilitating sessions during vacations, summer camps, etc. Since beginning therapy here, our communication and relationship with our daughter has never been better. Emily genuinely cares for her patients and it shows. It's worth mentioning, Emily is one of my daughters favorite people. So it's safe to say it goes both ways. We painstakingly searched for months and months for a pediatric therapist and I couldn't be happier. I would recommend Emily to absolutely anyone.

I've had the pleasure of working with Lindsey to prepare for the births of both my babies (2017 and…read more2020). I cannot recommend her enough. My husband and I took a HypnoBirthing class and refresher. I also got a Reiki treatment and placenta encapsulation. Whatever service you decide to use, you will not be disappointed. Lindsey's professionalism and compassion are what you need. I was blown away by our virtual hypnotherapy. The amazing tools she gives to her client stay with you when you need them most. I would recommend her to anyone preparing for birth or going through anything where they need a little support. Stop scrolling through reviews of doulas and just contact Lindsey. She works with amazing people who will form an entire team to support you.

I noticed many of the reviews were for pregnant women (hynobirthing), but I figured I would give it a shot anyway since Lindsey came highly recommended. I figured if she couldn't help me, she would let me know. I didn't want to waist time so I made my appointment the same week so that I wouldn't chicken out. The whole idea of hypnosis can be a bit unnerving especially to someone with my nerves. I arrived at my appointment and immediately noticed the laid back calm atmosphere. Lindsey is professional and has a good aura about her. I noticed immediately that I felt comfortable around her. I had a 60 minute session and walked out feeling relaxed. If you are considering this type of session for any issue, you have to keep an open mind. I am glad that I took a chance.

Growing into adulthood is a struggle for anyone, and I was having a rough time. You meet people that care, and then you meet people that both care and can engage you. The latter is Joan Normandy-Dohlberg. Not only did Joan make me feel comfortable & safe to express my feelings (& share my deepest darkest,) but she engaged me in a way I knew I was heard & felt I could accomplish more & do better for myself- no judgment, no falsity. She helped me every step of the way, ESPECIALLY when I was in my own way. As someone who's seen a lot of therapists in the greater Burke/DMV area, I want to be clear that I am leaving this review as a GLOWING review of Ms. Dr. Joan Normandy-Dolberg-- and you'll be hard-pressed to find a better therapist than her.

She is very knowledgeable and uses different methods to help you cope and understand your feelings and so you can process a painful past and not let it impinge on the rest of your life. She is a great listener but unlike another therapist I had in the past, she doesn't just listen and tell you its "normal", she actually discusses how it's affecting you and ways to lessen it's impact on your mental health. She uses EMDR, a therapy that helped me SO much by lessening the pain of past trauma and now the remembrances of these events is much more infrequent and does not cause high levels of anxiety. You can ask my husband, my life has vastly improved since I started seeing Joan. Karen, her office manager, is very sweet and friendly and it is just such a great environment. If you are in need of a genuine, caring and highly qualified counselor, I highly recommend Joan.

She decided not to take me on as a patient after briefly reviewing my family history, which I don't blame her for but made all the effort to set up an appointment feel like a giant waste of time. My frustration was compounded by the lack of communication regarding billing. Despite my efforts to inquire about the cost before and after the session, my emails went unanswered. I was then surprised with a large bill for a short visit that did not result in any progress. Had they responded to any of my inquiries, I would not have written this negative review.

I scheduled an initial appointment with her to manage my medication for ADHD(a diagnosis she seems to have a personal problem with) and she literally spent the whole time berating me and insulting me and I could barely get a word in because of all the times she raised her voice over me to contradict and belittle what I said. I left that session so frustrated and disappointed that I burst into actual tears. Trust me I've been seeing a therapist and psychiatrists for over a decade now, and I know there are bad apples in every bunch but I've still never been treated this blatantly horrible for no reason whatsoever. Please please please don't waste your time here, no one deserves to be treated the way she treated me.
