I stopped by my local dispensary today and met a guy named Love. He made the whole experience welcoming, respectful, and comfortable. He took the time to help people understand that many of us are there for legitimate medical reasons--aching joints, bad knees, old injuries, and chronic pain. For the first time, it didn't feel like I was doing something wrong. It felt like I was simply taking care of my health. Everyone has to make their own choices, but for me, this has been a better option than alcohol, and in some cases it's been a better alternative than relying on certain pharmaceuticals. One minute before your scheduled close time. They were met with aggressive behavior by the "security guard" who shouted "we're closed, we're closed" and refused service while displaying disgustingly rude behavior. Not only was this disrespectful, but it was potentially harmful...especially to individuals managing conditions like anxiety or PTSD, including veterans. As someone who works to educate employees, patients, and clinical staff in a healthcare setting, I understand the critical role mental health and trauma-informed care play in customer interactions, particularly at a facility that dispenses medicinal cannabis. This kind of aggression is not just poor customer service, it's a risk to patient safety.
