The entire staff was amazing, so friendly, and very welcoming!! I went for medical attention to an emergency. I had already been turned away from 2 other medical facilities due to having a medical exception to wearing a mask which I have a doctor's note from. The staff was very understanding and helpful. They even told me what to do to prevent this issue in the future. Bayou urgent care saw me same day, made sure insurance covered the treatment, and fixed me right up! I was out of there in less than 2 hours start to finish. The staff in the back is great. Everyone was professional past the front desk. I went in sick and had my son with me sick. Turns out they don't carry anything that covers strep throat. He wasn't able to be seen I had to drive to his doctors office after for antibiotics to treat him. I had the flu test positive and was able too be treated- after calling a friend to help pay a past balance-. One of the reasons I gave it 3 stars is the guy at the front desk. He is so rude. The other reason is if you have a past balance- in my case I did- but I didnt know about it, they will deny treating you until it's paid. I didn't have the money to pay the full balance up front so I asked for a payment plan but was denied that too. I'm at the front desk sweating and shaking with a nosebleed begging him to try and help me, he just throws his hands up and says "your chart is locked, nothing I can do." read more

I typically don't write yelp reviews (actually this is my first ever). But I feel it necessary after the experience I had yesterday afternoon. Dr. Fernandez and other nurse staff are wonderful. Thanks to them I am well enough to be able to write this review today! The man at the front desk, however, as someone also stated in a review over a year ago, is not. He is unpleasant, unhelpful, unkind, and lacking in empathy and basic customer services skills. People come into urgent care feeling tired, sick and stressed out. His job, at the bare minimum, is to make things as easy on (sick!) patients as possible. He, however, treated me (and others that I observed) as if they were annoyances, inconveniences. I will share just one of the unpleasant interactions with this individual during my short visit: I asked him for assistance with connecting to wifi so that I could pull up my current insurance card (I had brought a different one with me by mistake). He showed annoyance, and said that he couldn't help me with that/ didn't know how to do that. Eventually he agreed to ask someone if there was a wifi password for the Bayou Urgent Care wifi network that I was pulling up on my phone. But after waiting around for another 10 minutes or so, and not receiving any help from him, I finally just told him that I would be going back home for my card. I was tempted to not return at all (I am new to the area, and could have chosen a different clinic to establish myself as a patient). However at that point I had already completed the intake paperwork and since I was SICK I wanted to wrap up as soon as possible. I recommend changes in the front desk personnel if this individual will not respond well to additional training. I also recommend creating more space/ separation between the waiting area and reception area, as this man did not have any regard for keeping private information private from other patients in the clinic (as someone also stated in a review about 6 months ago). Front desk personnel will make or break an experience, and it was this individual alone that prevented my otherwise 5-star experience. I may give Bayou Urgent Care another chance, however if I do, I expect to see changes. read more

We saw the NP for a minor head laceration, got there 20 minutes to close and after stitches and instructions on care we were out in 30-35 minutes. Great staff. So much better than sitting in the ER for 2 hours. read more

Yesterday evening my 6 year old son hurt his hand. I needed an X-ray to make sure it was not broken. We arrive at urgent care between 7:30 and 7:40... so at least 20 full minutes before they stop taking patients. When I walked in there was only one person in the waiting area and it was very very quiet. I'd be shocked if they had more than 1 patient in the back. I immediately told the receptionist that my son was healthy, I just needed an X-ray of his hand because he was hurt playing ball. The doctor in the back signaled to the receptionist to not take me. She whispered "no it's too late." The receptionist then informed me that it was too late in the day to perform an X-ray so I had to go elsewhere. I had to drive to and from children's hospital alone last night because one person wouldn't take a quick picture of my son's pinky. It ended up being fractured and we received excellent care at Children's. I am so disappointed in the doctor and staff that turned my 6 year old away last night. I will NOT be back because I refuse to give my money to people that do not want to do their job. read more

I went to Bayou Urgent Care to have my hand checked out after an incident of hand versus door frame and dog on leash (my hand lost the battle). I saw the doctor, had and x-ray of my hand, and I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. The staff was very professional and helpful. The doctor is board certified in emergency medicine (not every urgent care doc is). I would recommend anyone in need of medical services to go to Bayou Urgent Care, unless you want to spend 2+ hours in an emergency room. I have already sent my son over there for a spider bite and he had the same experience I had. Really a great place!!! read more

Bayou urgent care in Chalmette was a very pleasant experience. Staff was so nice and that means a lot! The wait was minimal and Dr. Fernandez was great and very efficient. Will definitely go back when the need arises and highly recommend Bayou Urgent Care to others. read more
