The service isn't quite at the food's level. The times I've been here, they don't have enough people doing the little jobs, like cleaning tables, doing dishes, and restocking silverware and cups. If this was a leisurely coffee shop, as they probably intended it to be, their self-serve concept would work well. But this is no longer a leisurely coffee shop, and customers need water to sip on and silverware to use when their food arrives. Has a small storefront on Townsend in downtown Midland with just a handful of tables for inside seating. Tables are small with room for two to four people. Menu on the wall which should have been our clue that we needed to order at the counter but would have been nice if there was a sign near entry that said to do so. We sat down for around 15 minutes before we were noticed finally and informed to order at counter. Once we got order in, drinks came out quickly but hot drinks were lukewarm and no spoons given to stir them. Thankfully, crepes came to table fairly fast. They had a selection of savory versus sweet crepes and seeing as it was lunchtime we went with savory -- the Edmond Dante's which had ham, turkey, Swiss, raspberry jam and honey mustard. We only did a quick pitstop into Midland, but this was a fantastic treat for all of us. I'm not one for sweet crepes and I'm wary of amateur crepe makers. However, this place nailed it. All of our dishes were shared around the table and we all agreed they were delish. They weren't huge portions but they were filling and tasty. I'm confused about this place and the high reviews it has received. We came here on a Saturday morning. We sat at a table and were completely confused by the place. So we ordered at the counter, no biggie. We ordered water, coffee, and our crepes. Well, everything was like self serve and they don't even tell you that. They just assume you know what to do. We had to ask where we got our water, where do we get our coffee, where do we pick up our silverware, etc....almost made us feel stupid. So there is a cooler that you have to get your own water container from (with plastic glasses), then you have to get your own coffee (in like cheap 7-11 carafes). I wanted an orange juice- that too was in the cooler, and it was store bought individual sized juices.. needless to say, i passed on that. It took a good half hour to make our crepes (they weren't anything complex) and they whole time, i only see 2 girls working. 1 is making our crepes and the other one is taking orders and making specialty coffees for other customers. The 2 girls never came out behind their counter to even clear or clean the empty tables. People were sitting down at dirty tables and clearing the table so they would have somewhere to sit! Oh yeah...there's a tub next to the coffee pots with dirty dishes. So i wasn't sure if we were supposed to clear our own table too or not.I don't know, just this whole concept is odd to me. I'm going out to eat so i don't have to serve myself....that's the whole point! The crepes weren't even anything spectacular...maybe we ordered the wrong things??????? On the plus, it was super busy and just kept getting busier as we were there.
