I'm not sure I had any gelato in Italy better than what I found at Gelateria Paradiso in Arezzo. The gelato here is incomparably fresh, smooth, and delicious. I had no shame coming here as often as I did, because there is nothing similar where I'm from, and there's very little even in Italy that can stand up to it. One of my favorite moments in Italy was when my friends at the hostel brought me here and bought me a family-sized portion of gelato. It was disgustingly huge. But there's always room for gelato.

They make their gelato every single day; they have their little kitchen in the back and you can see some of their equipment. Now with the summer in Arezzo and the overwhelming heat wave, I've been lucky enough to see a few times how they make it. Typical gelato flavors such as chocolate and fior di latte are great, but go for the exotic fruit flavors such as Mango, Papaya, and Passion Fruit all made with fresh fruit. For a brief period in late October/Early November, they also have a terrific Pumpkin Pie gelato with actual pieces of pumpkin pie in the gelato. It does not get any better than this.
