If you are looking for a place to live, keep looking! I certainly did not expect this place to be as big of a dump as it is. Their photos are 100% misleading.
We moved in to a 600 sq ft apartment that was filled with cob webs, a broken dryer handle, an incorrectly installed door lock, and had a horrible earthy/musty/old odor. Our first day was spent cleaning, since the place was an absolute mess with dead bugs everywhere, and requesting maintenance address various issues. I had headaches the first few days from the incredibly strong odor.
Our deadbolt and key access had been installed incorrectly upon arrival. The deadbolt was on the outside of the door and the key access was inside the apartment. We requested maintenance to address this, however had to wait at least 24 hours to be able to securely lock our door. The handle to the dryer was completely broken off and we could not even open the dryer. We had to wait to do laundry until that was replaced and fixed.
We could not figure out where the stench was coming from, so brought in air fresheners and other scents. A few weeks in we discovered a water leak in the water closet that had obviously been leaking for months prior to our arrival. The baseboards and flooring were completely saturated with water and was clearly the cause of the smell. When we stepped on the flooring by the closet, water bubbled up from underneath and resulted in us having to place towels on the ground.
We immediately called maintenance and requested that they remedy the water leak issue, and we requested they test for mold. They refused a mold test and the manager argued with us stating "there is no such thing as a mold test" and a test of that nature would "cost in the thousands." Frankly, it shouldn't matter the cost if there had been an ongoing leak causing that much damage and we want to be safe from mold. There also are mold tests and companies that do just that.
Shortly after our complaint of the water leak and our request for a mold test was denied, both of our access cards to get us through the gate were deactivated despite still living there. This was oddly timed, and no other resident appeared to have issues gaining entry to the complex.
The gym equipment was, and may still be, broken and incredibly dangerous. The treadmill would jump speeds while running, causing me to trip while on it and thus leading me to not feel safe utilizing it. The bicycle would give way of the resistance resulting in my husband pedaling and then jamming his knees into the machine when it buckled.
The pool chairs were all torn and damaged, and the mesh seats sagged to the point you were fully sitting on a metal bar. When we mentioned this, the building manager responded with, "the chairs are 5 years old, you can't expect them to be new." Considering we paid $1600 a month, I would expect that when the chairs become old and damaged they would replace them. I don't expect them to be new but I do expect them to be usable.
Our upstairs neighbor happens to work the front desk of the apartment, so that made things difficult when it came to noise issues. She happened to be the loudest and most inconsiderate neighbor we have ever lived under. We do not expect silence, we know what it's like to live under someone, but the noise coming from her apartment was unlike anything else.
Additionally, she trash-talked management when we first moved in, which seems wildly inappropriate for a resident/employee to discuss with a new tenant. On a separate occasion we went to the office 10 minutes before they closed to confirm our mailbox number and she acted surprised we entered because she "thought she had already locked the door." When I apologized and asked if they were closed, she acknowledged they were not closed but were closing in 10 minutes. Not sure why she would lock the doors prior to closing, but that was incredibly off putting to try to lock doors while still open.
Our health and well-being significantly decreased while living here due to an inability to sleep at night with ongoing noise upstairs, the impact of mold issues, the inability to safely utilize gym equipment that was broken, and more.
Upon moving out, we were charged for an alleged additional water leak that we were completely unaware of in the bathroom. Had our concerns been taken seriously with the first water leak, I believe this one would have been discovered immediately. They indicated we "failed to report" this leak, yet we had no knowledge of it, and they stated we were being billed to replace the flooring and part of the wall that needed replacement. After going back and forth a bit, they removed the charge because they were able to "put the flooring back." Pretty typical of them to put alleged damaged materials back into the place yet were going to charge us for it being beyond repair.
We have lived at various apartments and I can honestly say this place is, by far, the worst complex we have ever lived at. read more
