They offer free valet service during the preferred visiting hours, ice cream and popcorn for patients and guests as well as two activity/visiting rooms which are very inviting. What really impressed me is that the staff always pitches in wherever is needed, no one acted as if, "that's not my job". The PT and OT staff was all that; Nisha, Karolyn, Tom aka "Supervisor", Yajaoli, Edward, Rhonda, Tess, and so many more. One could not as for better treatment, honestly!! The downfalls were the EXTREMELY uncomfortable beds and the TERRIBLE food! The food was the worst in any institution I've ever had, even in schools. It baffled me. But, it worked in my favor, I ate less, and too, some of my peeps brought me some food every so often. Shout out to the management TEAM at Alden Estates, Skokie. When…read moreit came to long term care, for my now 96 year old Mother (who is also my best friend), there was not even a question as to what the choice would be. From our side and from hers. Citadel of Wilmette!!! We were referred to Citadel by Evanston Hospital and her primary physician for rehab following a very serious fall last year at 95 for which she was hospitalized.The rehab and the staff at Citadel is beyond anything one could imagine. Personal, lovely, exceptional in their knowledge and care. She was successfully rehabbed and we brought her home, but she was so sad to go. Shortly there after, she suffered another fall for which she broke her hip and again was hospitalized and chose Citadel for her rehab facility. Again, same experience and she was greeted back with open arms and hugs and a determination and willingness to get her successfully rehabbed again. Within a few weeks, she was ready again to walk and rehab was successful. But what was clear now for us as a family, and for my Mother, was that going home and living independently now would no longer be an option. We faced the fact that long term care was now a fact and that living on her own would be fatally unsafe. Knowing the answer ourselves as a family that Citadel was the #1 choice for long term care, we asked our Mother where SHE wanted to be for her long term care. She said HERE of course with all of my "friends". You see, she does not call the staff her caregivers, they are all her "friends". In my life, I have never seen a nursing home or hospital or actually ANY staff as happy, joyful, caring, patient, diligent, smart, safer and loving as the staff at Citadel of Wilmette. I am almost crying while writing this, because my heart is so abundant with love and thanks for this incredible facility and staff for making my Mother in these twilight years SO happy and cared for, safe and feeling like she is at home. Mary, my Mother calls Citadel her home and we as a family do too. The location of Citadel is outstanding as when we visit we can enjoy the fireplace and bird room with her and take her for wonderful outings in the town of Wilmette and neighboring villages. And when I work in Los Angeles, which is often, I can FINALLY rest my head on the pillow at night knowing my Mother is safe and so very, happy. The facility is extremely clean and modern and upkeep is outstanding. The KIND, LOVING, JOYFUL, HAPPY, PATIENT AND EXTRAORDINARY staff is like nothing I have ever seen before and their long term care and their rehab is the BEST you will ever get. Thank you Citadel for the joy you bring our Mother. She loves you ALL and as I say, calls you her FRIENDS. Because you ARE. 10 STARS!! After "Kathleen" at Align contacted me to consider a softer review, I explained that my review was…read moresolid and that the caveat was for those considering agreeing to treatment: (1) Align checks your insurance, (2) is told what they'll cover (in minutes), (3) offers you a program limited by the minutes your insurance covers. I did decide to freshen my review: Kathleen, I won't remove or soften my review. After talking with a couple of professionals at the time, I'll revise it down. I was extremely pissed at and disappointed with AWC. Several years have NOT changed my opinion. I believed treatment would be structured around what I needed to help with lumbar and cervical pain. As I recall, chiropractic manipulation sometimes took about a minute to adjust my neck, with NOTHING done to my back. The rolling table session was perhaps five minutes long (it felt great, but insurance covered only five minutes), and electrical stimulation was another five minutes. I had enrolled because I was in pain and expected a comprehensive treatment program. After about five to seven weeks, my back felt worse, and my neck became more sensitive after the adjustments. My impression then and my opinion today is that Align offers a "treatment" program for patients who rely solely on insurance. Simply, Align checks your insurance to see what it'll cover, then provides ONLY that, seemingly regardless of the ACTUAL BENEFIT. I received a minute of chiropractic care, five minutes on a wonderful rolling bed, and about five minutes of stim treatment. I often walked out in under 20 minutes. I realized my treatment seemed like a scam. It appeared I was being moved through a series of "billable only" services rather than receiving viable, meaningful care. Those considering AWC who need to rely solely on their insurance should check THOROUGHLY, understand what you'll receive, and determine its actual clinical value. "Is the amount of treatment I'll get, based on what my insurance will pay for, actually going to be clinically beneficial?" I've considered obtaining my billing and insurance records and pursuing the matter formally with my former insurer and, if appropriate, the relevant Illinois regulatory authorities. In particular, I would want it examined whether the billed services, their duration, and the treatment actually provided were at all... clinically appropriate and accurately represented. Buyer beware.
