Plus the building, a castle looking building, is a great location to enjoy the exhibits and the old architecture of the house. It's beautiful and neat inside and outside. I enjoy the variety of exhibits they bring in and how they tend to showcase local artists. I believe there is artist space upstairs that I assume can be rented but I'm not sure of that. Most recently I brought my boys ages 7&8 for leaf printing. They had a lot of fun making the prints and coloring stamps. They had a great time. After we wandered over to the small park to the side of the house and they played on the jungle gym equipment. Further up the hill on the same grounds is the Castlewood pool and a splash pad for those hot days. Definitely worth checking out.

(That I know of) I have been fortunate enough to attend 2 KET fundraisers here, (Fabby Abbey Balls) and I must say that it was the perfect backdrop location to fulfill the atmosphere and add to the overall feel that heralds a time by gone. The staff were always accommodating and willing to play along with the themes and converse with the guests. There is also adequate parking tucked behind the side of the building. I would highly recommend a visit if you are able to procure one!

I can't say enough about this school. It's truly education for life, promoting not only education…read moreas a FUN experience but also teaching extremely important life skills and values such as sharing, teamwork, problem solving, self esteem, independence, healthy eating, conservation, and managing conflicts (and so much more!) It is these values that help us go far in life in terms of occupation as well as the quality of our life. VMS feels more like a big family on a comfortable farm. My two children LOVE to go to school and at 5, my daughter is already working on multiplication because she enjoys it. Math is so much more fun when taught in a hands on colorful method. Maria Montessori was an amazing person and ALL schools can benefit from what she knew a century ago. I could not decide on the right school for my daughters but when I first visited, my gut feeling was this was the place for us and it was the best decision I could have made. I visited so many other schools, including other montessori programs, but none had the family feel of this one and the love these teachers and staff have for the children is exuded - you can feel it! I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of VMS and happy to answer any questions of my experiences.

As a member of the Knights of Columbus council at Mary Queen, I'm blessed that our council does…read moremuch for our church, school, and the city of Lexington, Kentucky, not to mention they pray for us, overlook our faults, and forget our mistakes As church members, we never truly know what a hello, friendly word to a fellow parishioner or a visitor will be--an encouragement, a blessing. Plus, it is the priest's job to help people become great Christians, and we have that at Mary Queen. We are so blessed that they touch people's hearts during each mass. The week's highlight is disconnecting from the world and spending time in front of the Blessed Sacrament. That's right, leave everything at the door. Pope John Paul II once said, "Our communal worship at mass must go together with our personal worship of Jesus in Eucharistic adoration in order that our love may be complete." And he was so right.

I've never felt more unwelcome in a Catholic church in 50 years. Their mask police interrupted me…read morein prayer, and then at the Priest's request, during the homily during which I was told I would be asked to leave if I would not wear a mask. I was seated alone, far more than six feet from anyone other than the people behind me. During the announcements, the priest promoted the parishes fall festival. He says that many people have joined the church because of the welcome reception they've received at the festival. It must be a lot more welcoming than that of Mass.

EKU Alumni Coliseum…read more I've spent many a happy hour inside the Eastern Kentucky University Alumni Coliseum! I return to visit as often as I am able. I always call it the arena. Starting in 1968 I saw music concerts that are historic now. In the early 70's I saw the Temptations, The Spinners, Earth Wind and Fire, and more. I can't remember all the shows now. I've tried to find a list of the shows at the EKU Coliseum but haven't located a list yet. I hope they have historical information. I attended other shows I'm sure and probably a basketball game. I'm not much of a basketball fan. I spent a lot of time swimming in the pool. Since my friends and family still live in the area I visit when I go to Richmond. I'm giving it Five Stars because I've never been disappointed. I hope other people can have the happy memories after their time spent at the Alumni Coliseum. If you live nearby like I did you know about the activities offered in this beautiful old venue. A little history: Built in 1963, the Paul S. McBrayer Arena located inside Alumni Coliseum, is capable of seating around 6,500 people in both chair-back seats and on wooden benches (8,000 for concerts) arranged in a horseshoe shape, facing a wall at the right side of the arena where staging is usually set up for events. The arena's ceiling is made completely of wooden beams and is believed to be the largest of its kind in existence. It was named for the former EKU Men's Basketball Coach Paul McBrayer who compiled a record of 219-144.

My review of Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) is focused on their athletic amenities. I visited…read moreEKU to attend the State Track Meet for Special Olympics of Kentucky and was mostly pleased with what they offer. It's a nice looking campus and features a number of older buildings mixed with some newer ones. There's also plenty of green space. EKU Athletics features the Roy Kidd Football Stadium as well as outdoor track facilities; softball and baseball fields; an indoor basketball arena; and a natatorium. Although EKU offers all these options, most of their facilities are outdated/worndown and arena-style seating is limited (example: there was only about 10 rows of bleacher-style seating at the track field). Still, EKU is a good option for sporting events!
