While eating custard this early in the season means cranking the heat in the car at the same time (at least for me), Cream Valley was bustling with activity tonight, days after opening for 2013. A fixture in Woodstown for as long as I can remember, Cream Valley is just plain good all around. I can't vouch for their food, but you can't really go wrong with any custard flavor. Also they are CASH ONLY. The area is a tight spot for vehicles, the drive thru blocks cars from driving around the building to go the other parking spot. Cream Valley is part of a dying breed - all over South Jersey used to be little independent custard stands, but there are not that many around anymore. Luckily, Cream Valley is keeping the tradition alive and doing it well. Custard in South Jersey is like soft serve, but just a little richer. Cream Valley must maintain their machines well because, no matter how hot it is, the custard is always firm. The thing I like best about Cream Valley, though, is that they serve an orange and vanilla soft serve twist - a creamsicle - that is out of this world in a cake cone. This is not flavor burst orange, but legit orange sherbet soft serve - AMAZING. Cream Valley also offers a wide variety of hard ice cream - me wife loves the salted caramel - water ice and your typical grill items - burgers, fries, and sandwiches. As a child, my Philadelphia-born mother would whisk us off to the Jersey Shore for weeks at a time during the summer. On the four hour journey, we would get bored and cranky - yet one thought prevented us from acting out too horribly. CREAM VALLEY. Specifically, the vanilla/chocolate twist variety of cone. Oh sure the menu contains frozen yogurt, hard ice cream flavors aplenty and even water ice - but we were after the real treat. The custard. So deliciously thick and oozy and dripping down the cone within mere seconds so that you had to lick around and around and it was always gone before you knew what had happened to it. We would ride the rest of the way in a sugar-induced haze, replaying the glorious scene over and over. If you're ever in the mood to treat your inner child, don't think twice, just stop by Cream Valley on the road to NJ Shore nostalgia. I stopped by this weekend and the custard is as good as ever, even if the farm has been sold and a country club now sits in the old cow pastures. read more

OMG - so good! Went here totally unplanned. We were driving down the road, and I saw the sign and pointed and yelled "custard!", and we headed right over. The prices were amazingly low ($4 sandwiches!). I loved the fries, which were kind of double fried or something and had a unique texture and flavor. My bf had a roast beef sandwich that he could not stop raving about. The custard was HEAVENLY. It was so, so good. I asked what a Dusty Road was, because I saw it on the sundae list and am always game to try a regional favorite, if I see something I have never heard of before. Turns out a Dusty Road involves malt powder and chocolate sauce. I asked to sub hot fudge instead of chocolate sauce, and the result was magic. The vanilla custard, malt, fudge, and whipped cream were like heaven in a cup. And the small is NOT small, for those trying to decide on size. I am not sure if there are a lot of places like this in the area, but I'd travel quite a ways to see some horses and cows, go to Auburn Road Winery, and head to Cream Valley for dessert. read more

My boyfriend and i were craving a sundae tonight for dessert after a delicious dinner. He ordered a brownie sundae with hot fudge. As the lady was walking towards the window, she opened up a package of "little bites" and placed three on top of the sundae and then added whipped cream on top. For starters, the brownies weren't warmed, they were stale, and they were placed on top of the ice cream. On top of the brownies being from a package of little bites, there was no hot fudge in the sundae. I was highly disappointed with this experience, and hope other items are worth the money, because the brownie sundae definitely was not. read more

The ice cream is good, this place was a staple during my childhood. Prices are good and they have a HUGE selection. The only reason this isn't five stars is that the girls that work there are often very rude! I don't know why that is, when I was in high school I used to think it was just that they didn't like my clique (haha!) but I've been back several times as an adult and the servers are still just as rude!
