I wish I could give them 0 stars. I joined crave when I was in high school not knowing what a healthy church looked/felt like. I wasn't raised in a Christian home and I had no idea what to look for in a church. I was extremely impressionable when I started going to crave. I didn't see anything wrong with a 23 year old hanging out with a bunch of kids. The "pastor" of crave would bribe kids in his complex with money and gift cards to join him in his living room for "church." I wish I had known how messed up of a situation it was then. After many years of faithfully serving at crave, I've finally left. I now have to seek therapy for the treatment I received there. The constant guilt tripping, gaslighting, gossip and micromanaging has ruined my perception of church. It's hard for me to step back into a faith community/any church because of how hurt crave has left me. If you're looking for a faith community, I would strongly suggest looking in another direction. The "pastor" of crave has had no seminary training. Crave also has no legit deacons/elders or church board of directors. There is no one overseeing what the leaders do here, therefore they do whatever they want. Speak with other pastors in the city and ask their opinion of crave. Most likely they would have already heard about marlon or crave, and most likely what they know/heard are not good things. There's a reason why no other local church collaborates with crave. When I left crave, I had an exit interview with marlon. He said that the way I was leaving his church was dishonorable and unbiblical, for what reason, idk. He tried guilt tripping me by asking who's going to take care of my city group that I'm leaving behind, amongst other things. The last interaction I had with leaders at crave was when I was trying to retrieve my belongings. After months of silence and being excommunicated the Toronto "pastor" and my old CG leader gave back my belongings (including my mom's and other family members belongings that they had graciously lent to crave) broken and dirty in a used/old trash bag. I'm appalled by how disgusting people can act just because you leave. This place is a classic example of why people hate the church. The people here don't exhibit any traits of Jesus. And the misuse of the Bible is gross and perverse. I really don't understand how people can turn a blind eye to all of these things. There's absolutely no accountability for the hurt they've caused. I'm disappointed with the amount of people who witness the abuse but are still silent. It's like being a bystander watching someone get bullied. There's a ton of other stories just like mine out there, this is not a single incident! Do your research about them and you'll find more stories just like mine. If you care about your spiritual health, do not come here. read more

I don't usually write reviews for churches but I thought why not since it is such a nice cathedral…read morein the heart of downtown Vancouver. Very convenient for the holiday traveler still wishing to attend mass. We actually went at the beginning of our cruise and at the end. They welcome out of town visitors which I'm sure make up a large portion of the attendees. Another reviewer mentioned that the communion lines are with the people on the sides proceeding to the front to a kneeler and and those entering down the center returning up the same way. Seemed a little congested so we went to the side. Hadn't received communion on a kneeler in over 30 years! There are a couple of homeless with their hats out before and after mass. This is not unusual as you are in the heart of a heavily populated city. The congregation is diverse and it's interesting to see so many Chinese at a Catholic mass...but it's Vancouver after all! Aided by great acoustics in this cathedral, the choir was fantastic.

I've visited this church twice now. Both times were great! It's a fairly large church, so if you're…read morenew I recommend going up to one of the greeters and saying so. They can point you in the right direction. (This should be easy, as they smile and say some sort of good morning as you walk in. So take your time and stop for a chat! You don't have to rush past.) The people here are lovely, so don't be afraid to strike up a conversation with the people around you in the auditorium or find someone wearing a "staff" lanyard if you're looking for more "official" conversation about the church. Note: There's coffee available by donation and water, both at the cafe downstairs and a small station upstairs. You can take it into the auditorium, too. The preaching is solid, as others have mentioned. You can tell that the pastor knows his stuff and is passionate about the Word of God. I love that they give time for response at the end of sermons, which includes the opportunity to take communion. They do have gluten free communion at the front table, which is so nice and not something you see at every church. For those like me, it's much appreciated! The worship is beautiful. I loved seeing the passion on the team's faces. They light up as they sing and play, and it's beautiful. I got chills at one point during worship at the end of service today -- presence of God ushered in. Love it! It's a great church from what I've seen. And my friend who lives here says such good things about it. If you live here, give it a try, and seriously consider getting involved in a community group. They are the best way to get plugged in and make friends. I spent the afternoon with several of my friend's small group members after church and they were all so friendly and welcoming. This church is full of people who truly care about knowing and following Jesus and it shows.

A regular, fairly traditional 10:30 AM Sunday service that often runs to an hour and a half with music from the large Casavant organ that ranges from sublime to majestic. Many times there are also professional guest musicians from various cultures and traditions. The afternoon Jazz service is also by voluntary donation and features professionals from around the city with little talking and lots of good music. The 7 pm evening contemplative service is predominantly candle-lit, calm and relaxing with guest musicians and small professional vocal ensemble to lead in the calm singing. Various activities for seniors, youth, parents & tots, The Word is Out for gay people to gather, share a meal and discuss topics of concern, a young people's evening of a meal and social fun (not an overtly religious gathering, open to all faiths) plus a welcoming to strangers conversation and coffee group. Free parking on Sundays in the underground parkade reached through the alley between the hotel and church off of Burrard. The venue is wheel chair accessible and sexual orientation is irrelevant. The recent rebuild have kept the interior and exterior looking the same but have brought better acoustics and lighting as well as cushioned seating. Also home to the longest aisle in Western Canada so often used for weddings and large memorial services. Seats just under 1,000 people. Also home to many TV and movie shoots plus public concerts. A particular favourite has been the Royal College of Organists Hallowe'en spooky music concert, also by donation, with some of the regions best organists playing themes ranging from Bach to video games, with cookies and punch after to raise money for their scholarship fund. A great place to attend a concert whether in the soaring sanctuary or intimate chapel.

What a wonderful, beautiful church - and amazing venue for a musical performance! The high, vaulted ceilings, the old, stone walls, the jeweled colors of the stained glass windows, the cavernous, open space - wow, just lovely. Even our wooden pew seat was comfortable (surprisingly). And the acoustics were just fabulous, too. We sat in the "south transept" area which flanks the stage on the east. My only minor gripe is that the seating diagram online didn't realistically portray where our chosen seats would be in relation to the stage (I knew which row we'd be in but the seats' angle to the stage front was quite off). That said, it was still great, and we enjoyed the show enormously and this church venue was truly special.

I was kindly welcomed at a Sunday Choral Eucharist service. The clergy and volunteers welcomed everyone, members and visitors. Well-to-do and down-and-out. Healthy and ill. All ethnicities and orientations. Two rude visitors next to me yammered during the service, but a volunteer quietly and kindly reminded them to respectfully keep quiet.

The volunteer at the desk was hard of hearing, and I felt like I was bothering the worshipers closely nearby with our conversation. I did purchased the Stained Glass Window Self-Guided Tour - which I highly recommend, and was provided with the pamphlet regarding the history of the Church. It was a cloudy, rainy day when I visited so the Church felt dark with the chandelier lighting, and minimal light from the stain glass. The ceiling is an amazing representation of the hull of a boat. The chapel is made of dark wood, and has a simplistic feel to it. It was one of my favorite Churches I visited during my travels through the Downtown area of Vancouver.

When my grandfather passed away, Pastor Frank Klassen came to our family house and offered condolences and also helped us with the funeral arrangements which were very sudden. Just his loving, and caring nature for my grandparents during the time, and offering the church to have the funeral was very nice. Talking about how my grandparents use to always come on Sundays, and occasionally stay for the potluck thrown here was a very nice, and peaceful place. It is a multi-cultural church, as you can see once you enter by all the multi launguage literature. Pastor Frank was very nice to invite anyone to come for the Sunday service, and helped in the ceremony with the arrangements. He still occasionally visits my grandmother at the care home, and provided much support to my family during this hard time. The turn around time from when my grandfather passed away, to the funeral was 5 days, and it went as well as it could have been. This church is fairly big in size, and houses offices and a kitchen in the back, there is a basement where childrens workshops, judging from the art on the walls is displayed, take place. I do not think you can recommend church's to anyone, but this is my review of everything that happened not too long ago, and one of the thanks has to go out to this church, and the people who make this place run.

It was definitely a mega church - something very uncommon in this part of town. There were probably enough seats for over 1300 people, as there were two levels for seating. The seats were made out of wood and they were cloth covered. The seats didn't feel uncomfortable, but they were just perfect in terms of firmness. The lighting and sound system was very good. I did find the singing Christmas tree to be almost creepy - singing heads as tree ornaments? - but their Christmas message during the show resonates with people of all faiths. This is definitely a rock concert style church, and not your one piano and classical guitar type of setting.

It's been a couple years since I had written my review. All that GOD has done for me THROUGH Crave Church merits a better review, fr For context: I have been consistently attending since 2014 and I'm writing this review out of my own will, to better help people consider coming to check out my church! I'm going to list some of the areas where I have had personal growth in by attending Crave Church. I pray to Jesus that this might help y'all 1. My Belief - Never understood or wanted anything to do with God or church before. I came from a "catholic" family that didn't practice. It was borrowed faith for my family. I didn't understand that believing in God, attending church or being a Christian was more than just a religion, doing "good things" and or being a "good person". It's about having a relationship with Jesus Christ and acknowledging that it's only by belief in Jesus and accepting Him as Lord & Saviour that we receive salvation. 2. My Mental State / Living for More - Struggled a lot with depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts entering into and throughout high school. I didn't really have any purpose or dream to aspire to reach down the line. I didn't have hope for anything and quite frankly... I wouldn't have been alive to write all this or make an impact the way that I've been, through serving in this church. If not for the bonds, love and community in this church, I wouldn't have the support I need or people to do life with (City Groups) that help me fight to stay in relationship with Jesus. If God hadn't planted me in this church, I wouldn't have made it and I definitely wouldn't be living for more than just for myself as I am now. 3. My Family - Okay so.. I was a brat but that's not the point LOL I was terrible because I wasn't honouring or respecting my dad at home. My home life was rocky and the atmosphere wasn't always the best. Fights, yelling were common, because there was never proper communication established and I was like at that "know-it-all" stage, iykyk. However, God has done a work in me by convicting and teaching me through the sermons, leadership and basic understanding of what the Bible says as well. I can attest to this day I have peace at home. Ofc, I'm still praying for all my family to come to Christ but, this is how this area has progressed so far. 4. Social Skills, Excellence - Throughout my years serving in this church, whether it's by cleaning, productions, so on and so forth. I wouldn't have been a proper human being with BASIC social skills and confidence without their leadership teachings and biblical values, principles The culture of this church has elevated my standard of living and also to strive for excellence in all that I do outside of church. God has blessed me in all my workplaces, BECAUSE of how the leadership in Crave has run and how we are to do everything with excellence as if we're serving the Lord God himself. 5. Understanding & Patience - We are not a perfect church, because a perfect church doesn't exist. We aren't perfect people and we all make mistakes. We don't demand perfection and we don't reflect perfection, only Jesus is perfect. This church IS and will always be a space of grace for imperfect people to crave God. That includes being a space of grace for all the leaders and our pastor, Pastor Marlon as well! 6. Communication - Had some differences as most people will come across at some point in church but, if you would just tell your inner self to shut up and go have a mature and proper conversation with those you don't see eye to eye with, it would resolve many issues. Maybe there was something that didn't align with your preferences. Don't be so quick to switch up and throw big words around when things challenge and confront how you are. A question I've asked myself that has kept me when being challenged is... If the culture, sermons, leadership, or the Word of God itself-- if these things in a church don't challenge your character, lifestyle, perspective and this world/generation's culture then who could lead you? 'Cause it certainly isn't Jesus Christ 7. Relationship with Jesus - Our mission statement is to lead people into an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. That has rung true for my life. I was taught the importance of prayer. To establish a devotional time with God and to protect it. How my relationship with Jesus isn't led or based on how I feel, what I see OR my opinion and preferences. Okie, blessings & love y'all read more

I'm always pumped to get to Crave Church's Sunday Experience because every talk is impactful and helps me to live a better life. It has helped me in my relationships, in adding value and doing better at my job, has helped me grow and learn and to stand on my own, plus a lot more! I highly recommend checking out their new series 13 because they have opened up the conversation to depression, suicide, and mental illness. I've learned so much and it has led me to a journey of soul-healing. Last week was only the introduction and I can't wait to hear the rest of the series. If you are checking it out be sure to bring a friend! The more the merrier. Another tip! If you like going out, meeting new people, just like the vibe they have groups that go out after the Experience to do just that! Talk to any of the volunteers that have shirts saying "volunteer" and walking around with iPads. Hope to see you soon read more

3 years ago my cousin invited me to this church and to be honest I didn't expect much from it. I was never a religious or so called Christian and so churches would be the last place I would go to. That changed when I first entered the building and everyone here is really friendly and nice, like you wouldn't expect people to come to greet you but they did. The songs they played are not hymns or boring songs but rather youthful, exciting and well-put together contemporary worship music. Pastor Marlon's message will always caught your attention and his message is really relevant to nowadays culture and youth! Overall, this church is really different from other churches that I have been to. It is a completely different atmosphere and vibe and I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a church or doesn't have one! read more

I won't ever forget the first time I walked in those doors, everyone was so warm and welcoming - you'll feel right on home in that instant! I've been learning & growing so much here at Crave Church and it's all thanks to the people who work so hard behind the scenes, to make this place a home for anyone & everyone, and draw people in more closer to God. Behind every good Sunday experience are loads of preparation & real hard work - people really aim for excellence to bring out the best possible atmosphere there is to experience God. LOVE THIS CHURCH! Every Sunday, Pastor Marlon's sermons never fail to encourage, challenge, and most of all, give me the hope and everything that I need not just for the week but for a lifetime. Through God's Word, Pastor Marlon also gives Biblical advice that are very practical and relevant! The volunteers here are also one the most loving people you could ever meet! This place leaves me at a loss for words each time I come here! It's literally impossible to feel awkward when you first walk though the doors because of the incredibly welcoming people here, and the family like atmosphere makes a huge city like Vancouver feel just like home! Week in and week out, Pastor Marlon shares some of the most practical, inspiring and life giving messages I've ever heard, and it gets better and better by the week. No matter what circumstances I'm facing, walking into Crave takes my every burden away! I can genuinely call this place HOME. The vibrant culture and energy immediately influences you, there is never a moment of boredom, and who knew that church could be fun? An amazing church with great music, great vibes, and great people. This church is LIT! I was so lost before I came to Crave. I had lost my sister and father both to cancer and times were tough but through the loving family I found at Crave I was able to find God and really feel His grace! The more I came to the Sunday Experiences and MDWK I began to really feel God's presence in my life! Now when I think about my passed loved ones, I smile because I realize I will see them again when it's time and for that I can only thank God for being so gracious! I can't believe I GET to be a part of Crave Church! I am honoured to be with amazing people who are in the journey with me! I get to learn many things that i wasn't taught before and it made me grow spiritually. I love Crave Church from the bottom of my heart since it was the right setting to have met God on a personal level. I've been attending Crave for only 4-5 months and it has honestly changed my life! :) Pastor Marlon's sermons always explains God's WHY which is LOVE. And the atmosphere at Crave is nothing but love for one another and for God. It's a place where I've felt accepted and everyone made me feel welcome. This place is awesome! Every week I always looks forward on coming here because I feel like I'm at home and I belong. The people here are friendly, caring and they work so hard because they aim for greatness. Amazing atmosphere, great people, and the live music has got to be the best I've heard. God is in this place, and His people are on fire to build His kingdom. I recommend it to everyone! I have gone to other churches in Vancouver before, but I've never been to another church like Crave. There's so much energy and an overwhelming sense of love in the atmosphere.
