We pulled over at the nearest rest stop which, thankfully, happened to be Leroux Brothers. The mechanic gave it a quick look and told my friend she needed a new transmission. He was even kind enough to talk to my friend's father to explain the problem. When asked what happens if we drive on it anyway, he told us it was probably ok to get back to Boston. Not wanting to give up our travel plans, the women in the front office helped us find a rental company nearby and let us charge our phones. Although we weren't customers here, their customer service was beyond compare.

I open my hood because they broke the latch and didn't repair it. Along with a lot of plastic material under the hood. So I was left, needing to access the engine and not being able to. I drove it to a nearby shop and they had to use pliers to open the hood. They even stated that that should have been fixed. Clearly no one since J&L has accessed the hood as they wouldn't be able to even open it! And J&L Service Center was the last one access my engine. They denied accountability. Had they owned up to it and simply fixed it I would not be so angry. I understand things happen, that are often out of our control, however, they didn't inform me that it happened and simply sent me on my way with it. Dangerous and irresponsible. J&L .. I trusted you.

Recently i have spent 4k plus on my vehicle to only have issue after issue. First it was only one wheel barren gone to find out it was both. Told us it was driver side but was both. Then it's bring the truck in Tpms sensors for my aftermarket summer wheels they used a short socket on a tall lug nut Damaging them In the spring. They did order new lug nuts however not what I originally had and didn't care for them. then bring my car in for summer tires and an inspection then cancelled the inspection few days prior ( we cancelled as I had a crack in my windshield knew it would not pass) and ask them to replace a tpms sensor while doing the work. They do the inspection even though we cancelled it and did not put the sensor in so they had to pull it back in. Then in the fall bring truck back in to put stock wheels on for the winter they put the aftermarket lug not on the stock wheels. when stock lug nuts where sitting in the floor of the truck. Which I did not mention where there but a mechanic should know you can not put after market lug nits in stock wheels. As was admitted by the service manager you can not do that. We en up having to change them ourself in the dark in our driveway as we needed the truck for morning. Then the truck goes in and 2300 dollars for a brake job to be done this spring all new parts and e- break parts and they scratch the shit out of my rear driver side door to the point it needs to be repainted and they use touch up paint to cover it up and basically say good enough and the rear fender panel has some damage That they buffed out That looks ok. this place seems to be headed down hill not sure what happened. I have had multiple Conversations with the service manager and we even had a conversation with Brain the owner. With admitting there was a issue with one person but said they have delt with and we are still experiencing issues.

They make the whole process incredibly easy--especially when dealing with insurance. They handled everything directly with Progressive, including taking photos, sending documentation, and working through the claim so I didn't have to chase anything down. They also helped line up rental cars, which made a huge difference in keeping things stress-free. The quality of their work is excellent, and their turnaround time really impressed me. On one job, I dropped my vehicle off on a Tuesday and had it back by Friday--and that included a full bumper, fender, and hood replacement along with paint. Everything came back looking great. On top of that, they're just genuinely good people. Friendly, easy to talk to, and they even remember my name when I come in--which says a lot. Highly recommend Newport Auto Works if you want quality work and a hassle-free experience.

However, when he did, he was very condescending and wouldn't let me speak much. Even went as far as to pick apart the message I left. I work in the service department at a dealership, and have worked with many small repair shops. Perhaps he just comes off strongly, but females know a lot too. He didn't seem too concerned with appreciating our best outlook, but more with proving he's "entitled". He told us he didn't wanna do it because then he'd have to stand by his repair. Well any good mechanic would stand by their work if they're capable. All that showed us was he's not looking for repeat business or considerate of anything but what we might pay him. He was also concerned with the crankshaft being worn out, however there's a kit for that to assist in the prevention of an additional repair. Somebody else will be getting our business who doesn't pretend to be knowledgable and have been more than upfront and willing about the repair.
