Looking for adventure on the high seas? Or at least the lower Chesapeake? This tour won't let you down. Captain Dan and first-mate Ann are your gracious and entertaining guides for a spirited voyage from western to eastern shores. Husband and I picked the three-hour lunch package with a stop-over at a local floating pub in Taylor's Island. Endearingly called Palm Beach Willies (ask the waitress about the name origins), the eatery is a throw-back to days gone by. A great place to "dock and dine," the service is leisurely but friendly; the menu (rightfully) emphasizes the fruits of the Bay. My fish sandwich featured an enormous breaded filet ensconced between super-sized slices of white bread. Ms. Ann dined enthusiastically on a local delicacy, soft-shelled crab.
The Crains, who know their way around these parts, navigated us safely home across turbulent waters. A few douses of well-placed spray provided the perfect cool-off from the late August sun. A great way to see the Chesapeake with two of the most colorful and fun hosts in the area. The best part was, they didn't make us fish.
