Ilkley Playhouse

Formed by the hard work of the Ilkley Players, the Ilkley Playhouse is an intimate theatre based…read morejust a wee way from the Ilkley train station, and near to local parking, for the purpose of presenting excellent quality amateur theatre productions to the people of Ilkley and all the rest of us theatre loving folk who are interested in attending a venue steeped in such history. Owned and run by the Ilkley Players, the Playhouse emerged from humble beginnings, struggled through the war years, and after years of renting the Playhouse space, was eventually bought by the Ilkley Players themselves. Most of the staff are volunteers, and it is a testament to their hard work and determination that a venue like this continues to run. The Playhouse itself is an intimate setting, with two main theatre spaces, the Wharfeside and the Wildman. There are about ten productions on here every year, and some of the productions are written by local talent. Fabulous. Tickets are also very reasonable at on average £8 a ticket. No excuse to indulge in a bit of theatre with prices like that. In addition to theatre, the venue provides opportunity for local dance classes, participation in the Ilkley Literature Festival, tours and workshops, and even costume hire. Lovely.

I went to this well heeled venue the other day on a spa day package for 2. It was amazing. A great…read moreJacuzzi and pool with sauna and steam room. The showers were great with a whole host of body products, soft towels and hair dryers galore. the down side to the facilities was the steam room smelled of ming and left a bad taste in ones throat that water couldnt shift, it left me begging for a toothbrush and toothpaste. with minor trauma we had afternoon tea with a extra side order of extremely chunky crisp chips. my friend and i were fit to burst with this divine banquest of tea, scones pastries and cakes with tidy little finger sanwiches, this feast was heaven sent after our day of lounging. we left full to the brim and very content with our lavish adventure. I would recommend this place but smell the steam room before you dive in xx The staff were friendly and were lovely when it came to ensuring a fish and nut free banquest for my friend (thumbs up)
We stayed at this hotel as we were going to party at nearby Salts Mill and also it was my brithday…read moreit was a bit of a treat. Whilst we were only there for one night we were made to feel very welcome and staff wanted to help us at every opportunity. The room we were given was at the reat of the hotel so a bit of a trail from the lifts but that wasn't too much of a problem for us. It was clean, and the bathroom was well stocked with towels, etc. The breakfast was just what we needed before a day wandering around nearby Leeds, they offered frully cooked items and cold selections. Only minor point was having to wait a bit too long for a pot of tea. All in all I would go back but make sure you get a good deal on the price!

A really beautiful scenic golf course with views over the moors. Been here for a couple of weddings…read moreand the food was really good with a great atmosphere. Really nice place and is in a lovely countryside setting. If you are a golfer (I'm not) I imagine this is a lovely setting for a relaxing round!
A wonderfully scenic Golf Club which has just had a new bar area built. Great Venue for Weddings…read moreand functions, they do special themed nights which are a hoot. Great golfing, although there are a few tees up a hill! So will keep you fit. Lots of friendly people, good food and well kept beers. A seated area outside for barcecues and drinks in the summer, with panoramic views across the valley. The golfing is friendly, yet still competitive, so you can play for fun or deadly earnest (he plays off scratch!!!) Loads of competitions if you want to join in, or just listen to the if onlys in the bar afterwards.
The Crescent Inn
Excellent hotel, excellent breakfast…read more Stayed here one night and had breakfast the next day. The stay: The room was really nice, spacious, clean, full bath and there were biscuits waiting for us. This is extremely important to me. The checkin was smooth, checkout was smooth, everything went well (which you would think was a given but surprisingly at many places it isnt). The breakfast: The breakfast was excellent. I had the pancakes and they were amazing. The Yorkshire breakfast was also very good I hear. The coffee was actually good! Very rare for a hotel. If all their food is this good, you're onto a winner! The only slight downside was that when I went for a pint in the bar the guy serving me was a little bit useless, but that's ok! I would thoroughly recommend staying here if you're staying in the area.
