This review is for the Hotel's restaurant inside. I came…read morehere for both breakfast and dinner. Neither of which let me down! BREAKFAST: You can either choose continental or full. The continental breakfast serves cereals, fruits, yogurts, muffins, croissants, crumpets, and other cold foods. The full breakfast includes eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns, mushrooms, beans, and grilled tomato. The full breakfast costs 8.75 GBP, which is 1.25 GBP cheaper than the Courtyard Marriot's breakfast next door. Good alternative if you are staying at the Marriot and want something different or slightly cheaper. If you want even cheaper, the continental breakfast is just 6.25 GBP! If you want even cheaper than that, there is a Shell station two minute walk away that sell sandwiches and milk. DINNER: The dinner menu is quite impressive. They serve pizzas, hamburgers, curries, Asian food, steaks, and more. I ordered the chicken Makhani curry for 11.55 GBP (about $19.60 USD). It's served with basmati rice, naan, and a side of butternut squash and lentil curry. Portion was just right and the plate came out hot, but not steaming hot. I'm pretty critical when it comes to Indian food, and I must say, the dish was surprisingly good (but not the best). The meat was good, the gravy was flavorful, and the butternut squash went well with the dish. The naan was pre-made, but still good. If I was to improve the dish, I would add more chicken, cook the chicken on a skewer, serve it with freshly baked naan, and serve it steaming hot. I also tried the "Asian Feast" which is the same thing as the chicken makhani meal (except half the portion) and includes red thai curry (small portion), Indian chips, and two extra sauces (which is just "yogurt" [actually taste like sour cream] and this jam sauce). I don't recommend the Asian Feast. It's expensive and although the portion looks big, its really not. The red thai curry has a strong resemblance of thai food but too sweet and thick for authentic. The "yogurt" was very disapointing and tasted like sour cream straight out of the box. Portion is small for both curries.

The hotel is easily walkable from the…read moreairport and close by a bus stop to Union Street (Touristy Area with shops, bars, restaurants). If you book a room here you are given a free bus ticket to Union Street and back (30 min bus ride). The price for this hotel varies based on the day of the week. Weekends are cheap and weekdays are expensive. This is because this Hotel caters mostly to the working class who arrives here during workdays and goes home during weekends. Expect to pay less than 100 GBP during weekends and up to 200 during weekdays. Book early because there will not be any vacancies during certain week days. If there are no more rooms, then most likely the hotels around the area are full as well. There was a time when I came here with no more vacancies and the only close by hotel available was the Marriot in Dyce, located on the opposite side of the airport (45 minute walk or a short taxi ride). WIFI connection here is fast and stable. I had no issues with it, and it's free. Breakfast is not free and costs 10 GBP. Although it may seem a bit pricey for some, the quality is very good. They have a buffet of scrambled eggs, haggis, "bacon", beans, fruits, yogurt, breads, croissants, muffins, juices, good coffee and tea. Dinner is good here too but also around the same price of 10 GBP (depending on what you order). There aren't that many other restaurants around the area. I went to the airport to eat lunch before at one point. I do believe there are other restaurants in other hotels next door, but nothing really peaked my interest. There is a Shell station about a 5 minute walk away. They sell coffee, candies, sandwiches, milk, and other items you might see at a typical gas station. The sandwiches they sell there aren't half bad either. Half the price for food at the Hotel and it puts food in your stomach. Update: The hotel next door called Premier Inn has a restaurant inside that serves food slightly cheaper. A full breakfast is 8.75 GBP versus 10 GBP here. The dinner menu is even bigger too!

Where my company squeezes all their employes traveling abroad. So naturally, this is a place we hit up pretty often for a meal and drinks. The building is gorgeous, an old church turned historical hotel and excellent restaurant. There is a granite bar, well I guess that is not that impressive considering the whole city is made of the stuff. Anyway, still an awesome place for a drink. A small dinning area behind the bar, and another dinning area/lounge as well. Two cask ales. This place is on the CAMRA beer guide. Usually Ossian and Tim Taylor. Both in immaculate condition. The service is always friendly and knowledgeable. Some good whiskeys as well. The food is very good, traditional Scottish fare. If you want to know what good Aberdeen beef is, come here. One of the best steaks, and prime rib I have had. The curry is also excellent. Like most places around they will do special dinners for Mothers Day, Christmas, ext. I have not been, but those always sound amazing. All freshly prepared and locally sourced. There are about 30 rooms, and very nice ones at that. Certainly as good of a place to stay as any. Lets see, historical building with lots of character, Real Ale, good food, yep this is a place for me.

It's a short…read morewalk to Union Street and all the shopping, restaurants, coffee shops, and bars you could want. The rooms are modern and clean. The only real gripe I can come up with for the room was it was hard to find electrical outlets. There's not one in the bathroom, there's a couple in the hall that are a tight fit because of the shelf, and the rest are along the floor. To get to the one under the desk I had to crawl under the desk. A power outlet or two on the desk would be nice. There's not any room service, but there's a restaurant on site with limited hours. Even during these hours it seemed sometimes hard to find someone in the restaurant. There's so many great restaurants in the area. Check out Nargile and Paldino. Next time I'm in Aberdeen, I'll gladly stat here again.

Regardless, Hilton Garden Inn at Aberdeen City Centre was an excellent place to stay for my trip to the Granite City. Clean, nice staff, comfy bed. My room had a rain shower which was awesome and a HUGE bathtub which came in handy when escaping the mid-50 degree weather of July (who knew those words would ever leave my mouth, err, fingers...). The restaurant on site has a buffet breakfast every morning which is very fresh and tasty. The location is also close to the hustle of Union Street and not too terribly far from Union Square, which seems to be the transpo hub for northeast Scotland. For the money, there is not a better place to stay in Aberdeen City Centre.
