The Owner of Craftsman came out to our home to look at the job and ensure that there were no issues requiring more attention. He was pleased with the end result and as I stated earlier, we do have a pretty bathroom now. We discussed the project and all that happened along the way. He told me that several changes were now in place to make sure some of the mistakes don't happen again. He apologized profusely for all the problems, assuring us that should anything arise in the future, it would be taken care of within our five year warranty. He stated that the General Manager must have been having a bad day and this was an isolated incident. PLEASE everyone, give this a read before you do business with this company. Here is what happened. We had water issues behind our shower & decided we needed to fix it & it might be a good time to renovate our bathroom. We met Paul, a nice man. I want to stress that I do not hold Paul responsible for this company's practices, but the owner Kevin McCloskey, who sets the prices for these jobs. Paul said we needed to get a restoration team involved who could deal with any potential water damage. The restoration company agreed that they would remove the shower tile and fix anything we needed fixed. The gentleman who owns the restoration co. asked if if he should go ahead and clean out all existing tile in the bathroom and do the drywall repairs to prepare for Craftsmen to come in and lay tile and put in the new tub and vanity. ALL OF THIS was to be ON OUR OWN OUTSIDE THE CRAFTSMEN CONTRACT. This was at the direction of Paul our salesman. Essentially, Craftsmen would replace a 2 sink vanity, a quartz top, tile the floor which is exactly 130 (I counted them) 12 x 12 tiles, and tile a shower that is 6 X 7 x 9 feet tall, one side of which was to have decorative tile. They were to provide a new shower head and controls and another one by a bench in the rear of the shower. They were to put down a freestanding tub. They would hang a mirror, put a glass door on the shower (31" by 66") and a glass window (57 " by 57") on a ledge that lets you look out of the shower. They then gave me an initial estimate of AT LEAST 60,000 dollars. Paul said some of these can go as high as 75,000 dollars. I asked why and they would give me nothing specific at all. I stated that all the drywall and demo was to be done by a restoration team and all they needed to do was tile the floor and shower, put in the vanity and position a freestanding tub & do the light fixtures and the mirror ALL WHERE THEY ARE NOW. I spoke with Kevin, the owner, said they have been in business a long time and have many satisfied customers and they are competitive with their pricing. I again stated that it didn't make sense. Paul got back to me and stated if we bought our own tub, our own mirror, our own light fixtures & our own glass door & window they would come down to 61,000 dollars. With a cash discount they would come down to 56,000 dollars. So, essentially, they were stating that they would tile 130 square feet of floor, and the aforementioned shower, put in the vanity and quartz top, two sinks and faucets. The Kohler retail pricing of two faucets, sinks, shower faucets, vanity, quartz top, tub faucet is 13,087.76. That is not the Craftsmen discounted pricing they get. They said by us buying our own freestanding tub, mirror, light fixtures, glass door and window, which they would install for us, would pass some savings on to us. I asked Paul, "where is the difference of 43,000 dollars coming from?" He wouldn't say other than that it was competitive pricing. I asked if he would bring the owner Kevin out to the house so I could show him first hand Craftsmen would not be doing demo or water repairs, no tub, no mirrors, no doors or glass, no light fixtures, and essentially, just doing the vanity, top sinks & 130 sq.ft. of floor tile and tiling a shower and putting in new fixtures. Kevin said, that they had been doing this for a long time. I asked how 56,000 for a project with 13,087 dollars of items is coming from, and how can they justify 43,000 of labor and I didn't want to be ripped off. At that point, after nearly 3 months of working with Paul over 7 weekends, getting the restoration company involved, etc, Kevin stated that they didn't want to work with anyone "that felt ripped off" and that he was "pulling the plug on this project". I had put down money to buy the vanity and quartz before all the items were picked out because that had to be done to get on their schedule. Now I have a vanity....and nothing else. Thanks for nothing Craftsmen. You are seriously trying to steal money from people. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. read more

We reached out to this place a few years back about a kitchen update and someone came out measured, talked design concept etc. and we never heard back. No phone call or email. After several months we decided to move forward with landscaping and other projects - always mystified why we never heard back. Flash Forward to the present. We're ready to move on the kitchen again and reach out to Craftsmen based on Reach Magazine Ad. I emailed request and details via their website for consultation 2 weeks ago. Never heard anything - no call or email. I decided to call today and was told I was already in their system - Turns out they were the ones that ghosted us a few years ago - and now again. 'Pete' was adversarial and argumentative on the phone and insisted the owner ' Kevin' had been out that time and did follow up with us ( He didn't) and that he left me a voice mail from my recent website submission. (He didn't). I can only assume 1 of 3 things is true: 1) They run a terrible business. 2) Our project wasn't big enough for them or 3) They only service certain types of customers or families. I considered using craftsmen home improvement for a project in 2011--finish my basement. That was a big mistake!!!! I had looked at several companies to possibly do my project. I was going to decide on the bases of years of experience, their cost (including bill of materials if provided), what alternative ideas they might have. Every contractor other than craftsmen inspected my basement, left, came back in one to two weeks with rough drawings of what the basement would look like, a price, some form of breakdown of the cost into categories, and a few ideas on how alternative materials could reduce cost. When the craftsmen rep showed up, he took some measurements of the basement. Then he typed information into a computer. He then provided a dollar figure on a piece of paper and gave that to me. No drawing, no details on what they were going to do order than put up walls in the basement. No details on price breakdown. And he expected a contract to be signed then. What an ass! The walls (drywall) was all going to be the same material as what would go in the bathroom--very expensive. He told me I was in a flood area. I explained how that wasn't true. He also began to talk as if craftsmen was the only true, qualified, group to do work of this type! I don't know what he was smoking before he got here, but he seemed full of himself. And here's the big thing---this was to put up walls, ceiling, and some recesses lights--but not tape, spackle, or paint anything--they didn't do that. I'd have to find someone else. The rep never addressed the other things I talked about dealing with electrical and plumbing. I had to yell in order to get this guy to leave. All the other contractors, as I previously said, took at least a week to think about what they were going to do. They provided alternative ideas to mine that could save some money. They also explained how many people would be working, schedule, materials, etc. Suffice it to say I did not go with craftsmen. The other contractors varied in price, but all came in with a lower price to finish my basement, including putting in a shower, wet bar, and creating a separate circuit breaker box for the basement. THE PRICE WAS LESS FOR ALL THAT IN EVERY CASE COMPARED TO CRAFTSMEN JUST PUTTING UP EXPENSIVE DRYWALL AND A FEW LIGHTS. Bottom lines: Craftsmen will gouge you. They will offer only one solution--their way of the highway--no alternatives or other ways to get a job done within your budget. And no time to think--THEY ENGAGE IN VERY HIGH PRESSURE SALES TACTICS. I would not recommend them to even be considered. AND THERE'S MORE!!!! Any time the craftsmen people were in this area doing anything, they'd send salespeople door to door handing out flyers and trying to get you let them look at your house. In one case a craftsmen guy asked me if I had my siding inspected. I said I wasn't interested in using his company. Then he said "that's not what I asked!, Have you had it inspected". What a jerk!!! He acted like I answered to him as an authority figure. I said I've had many things inspected and fixed from time to time but what I didn't need was his mouth or opinion on anything. On another occasion someone from craftsmen was going door to door and I simply didn't open the door. I just went about my business. That moron then pounded on the door before he left. These people are just a few steps up from thugs!!! read more

Jim and Kim were tasked with designing and installing a bar in our basement. They took our concept and applied their experience to provide great suggestions that made the entire design far more useful and pleasing. They kept to the schedule and to the budget. We had wanted a stone back wall and Craftsmen contracted a very good artisan for that purpose. He ripped out a portion of the wall that was not to his liking and redid the lighting till he got it right. Overall, a great experience, we will certainly be working with them on future remodeling projects. read more

Had an appointment for a kitchen consultation. When their representative showed up, he had another person with him that he did not tell us was going to be present at our appointment. Upon reviewing our kitchen, he basically said he couldn't do a job for us for the budget we stated - despite their brochure that claims they have options for different budgets. Basically, if we "wanted to do it right" we'd be looking at $15,000 - $20,000. He did not propose any other options and didn't want to listen as we explained different options we had in mind that may be more economical. Then he proceeded to ask us if we had talked to anyone else. I said yes, and replied with the name of the other vendor. He then replied, "Well, they have good products, but their installers aren't any good!" So he tried to insult the competition, which was VERY unprofessional. Overall, my husband and I felt extremely insulted like they didn't even want to help us find a solution to make some updates to our kitchen unless we spent BIG $$$. Don't waste your time calling them if you have a budget or a modest house you'd like to improve. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!! read more
