The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that they have the bride get ready in the women's restroom. The same restroom that many of my guests wished to use upon arriving at the venue. Not everyone saw me before I walked down the aisle but the wow-factor was taken away a tiny bit as many of my female friends and family members had already seen me in my dress. The chips were stale, I'm almost 100% convinced that they come from one of those tex max chip bags from Walmart. When we get to ordering, I make sure to use the awesome option they have where you can "donate your sides" and turn them into meals for those in need. I was disappointed to see that when my meal was brought out, both of the sides were still there and our server had to check to see if it was still counted for the donation which makes me super skeptical that the program is even real in the first place...no one liked the food, the rice tastes like it's microwaved, the mexican rice tasted like a can on spaghetti o's, the refried beans tasted like canned slop, my chimichanga was soggy, the shrimp was definitely defrosted from the bag and cooked, and the salsa was bland at best. I wish Kitchen Nightmares was still airing, this place would probably be on an episode. Gordan Ramsay would have an absolute field day with this place. Believe it or not, I'm not one to be disappointed with food so easily but this place really takes the cake...you're better off going to the "fancy Mcdonald's" across the street. The bride and groom were able to select menu items in advance during a tasting and the items served at the event did not disappoint. Everything exceeded expectations! The servers were very safety conscious and were masked and careful about serving and presentation. The venue was beautiful. It accurately describedon the website, "The Laurel Room at High Vista offers a stunning panoramic view of the Blue Ridge mountains in all directions through a room wrapped in windows and balconies. The interior has a timeless A-frame wood beam construction, vaulted ceilings, and expansive stone fireplace." For our son's wedding, he and his bride selected the rain or shine option of an outdoor wedding under a tent - an elegant solution that was perfect for wedding guests to stay safe and enjoy the ceremony. We moved downstairs to the Robinson Pub for the cocktail hour and again, guests could enjoy the pub or remain outdoors at tables. We moved to the Laurel Room for the toasts, food, music and dancing. Once again, with open doors and windows and access to the wrap-around balcony and patio, guests were able to safely mask indoors as needed and enjoy dining in the fresh air as chosen. The servers were professional considerate and responsive. It is hard to say enough about the wonderful wedding experience at the Laurel Room!
