I'm not sure why that is, but it didn't win any brownie points with me. My drink was barely cold, and on this warm day, didn't stay cold for long. The redeeming feature of the restaurant for me today was the service by the two people who were "on duty". They were patient, friendly, and helpful. I have never seen this place more than half full. Today I understand why.

I'd normally order the same thing - one piece of fish, minimum chips and two potato scollops - because once you find something that works, you stick with it. I went to visit Wagga this year, and it was everything I remembered. Certainly the best chips on the market, great crispy batter on the scollops and fish (and a huge apology to those that like their batter soft or squishy - this is not for you). Always the place to stop on the highway between Sydney and Melbourne.

The food and service here are spectacular, and have really good prices. Even in the middle of winter, they have a courtyard area full of heaters to warm you up. It's absolutely a hidden gem, as it doesn't look like a typical cafe from the front. I ate here at least twice in a row, and loved it both times.
